Chapter 14: Ricin
Aurora's POV
Days have passed and I've been doing the same routine as if I'm having deja vu only things got worse each day.
When I look in the mirror, I see the same disheveled girl with dry tears staining her pale face. Her eyebags got darker, only masked with concealer to bring back her once innocent look yet it doesn't look like it. Puffy, red eyes staring back as she tries to put on a smile, only appeared to be fake.
She's trying to fool everybody around her that she's okay on the outside by just looking at the fake smile on her face but deep down she's not, cause her world is shattered and she is on a grey lifeboat that's been floating on a black and gloomy river, trying to survive the nightmare all by herself when she lost the chance asking for help when she needed it.
I thought dad's death would haunt me forever but this is much worse than that. It's worse than school. This is living hell.
I just sat there in my own slightly crooked seat while my chin on my left palm, listening to the clock ticking as a minute passes by, pretend to listen to the teacher and waiting for the class to be over.
Tick, tock.
Tick, tock.
Tick, tock.
Tick, tock.
'RIIING!'
Finally, the bell rang and class is over. Everyone grabs their belongings, leaving their seats and heads out of the classroom. I felt a hand on my shoulder which made me flinch and I look up.
"Ro, class is over. Are you okay?" Heather asked.
I've been asked the same question over and over and over which makes me want to cry and breakdown but at the same time... I can't.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired. " I said, giving a faint fake smile as always.
I weakly pack all of my stuff, get up and we walk towards the door together however a voice called out to me from behind.
"Aurora, can I talk to you for a bit?" said the voice of Mr. Davies.
Heather slightly glared at him for a second and motioned me to get it over with as she whispered to my ear that we'll meet each other outside of the school campus. I nodded and she left.
"What is it, Mr. Davies?" I asked.
"Sit." He said calmly and I followed though I have a bad feeling about this.
I walk over to the seat, which is right in front of his desk and sit down. He then walks over to the door, looking left and right before closing it. And I could've sworn I heard a click sound, meaning he locked the door.
I furrowed my eyebrows as he took a seat next to me.
"I've noticed that you don't seem to pay attention in class like you used to. You seem to be dozing off and something tells me that you might be having some issues. Is everything okay?" He said while looking at me in the eyes in a different way.
"Um... yeah. It's just that I have trouble sleeping these past days and um... got into fights with my stepbrother and all that. But I'm okay. " I said in a casual tone and hopefully he will dismiss me early. I don't want to deal with this kind of shit at the moment.
"Are you sure? Do you need help or anything at all?" He asked with a hint of concern in his tone. Despite his concerns, I can't trust him that easily.
"No thank you. I can manage." I reassure him.
"Hmm... " He hummed before he stands up from his seat and walks over to stand behind my seat. My fingers start fidgeting while my eyes focused on them then he places his hands on both sides of my shoulders and I tense up. Then he starts rubbing them, more like... massaging them, and I clear my throat. This feels so uncomfortable, especially when a teacher is doing this to a student.
Then all of a sudden, I can feel his breathing against my neck. I really need to get out of here before another teacher sees us. My situation would become worse. Oh, wait... It already has.
"If you need any help with anything, don't be shy to approach me. I hate to see my students, especially a special student such as yourself, in distress." He said close to my ear before licking it and continue massaging my shoulders.
That's it. I'm out of here. I get up and quickly grab my things, walk towards the door, unlock it and run out of the room as fast as I could to get away from that creep.
Steven's POV
I clench my fist as I can feel anger boiling up inside of me while watching Aurora run out of the classroom all because of that bastard teacher of hers. I look out from the small glass panel and he's just packing his stuff and I notice his water tumbler on the table. And an idea popped up in my head. I pull out a big vial from the pocket of my jacket, filled with ricin that I've been keeping for a while. I waited for the right time for him to open the door as I take a few steps further.
I listen carefully to the tapping of his shoes, assuming that he's walking towards the door. I make my move by walking forward as slow as possible and the door opens which is my cue to bump into Mr. Davies and he drops his things, including the water tumbler, and papers have been scattered on the cold marble floor.
"Geez, sorry for that Mr. Davies," I said as casual as I can. "I didn't notice you there."
He just let out a sigh, shaking his head before picking up all of the papers on the floor. I got on one knee, blocking his sight of where the water tumbler is laying around. I picked it up, quietly open the flip top and pour in the ricin. I look back and Mr. Davies is almost done picking up a few papers and I quickly close the flip top and lightly shake the water tumbler. I snatched the other papers and stand up.
"Here you go, Mr. Davies. It won't happen again." I innocently handed his water tumbler and a few papers to him and he just takes it from me without saying a word which I just simply ignore. He walked away while I waited for the right time to follow him. Once he's far enough, I started following him as he took a right turn then walk towards a grey door which leads him to the parking lot.
He heads out and I silently followed. I hid behind the tree as I watched him place his stuff on the hood of his car so he can drink his 'water.' It looks like he finishes drinking in one gulp and then he grabs his stuff and gets inside the car. I made sure that I pour a sufficient amount of ricin in order for the symptoms to kick in. A few moments later, he started to gag and he quickly gets off the car. He crawls away from the car and I can clearly see the look on his face. After multiple attempts of forcing himself to throw up, disgusting liquid just comes out of his mouth and I watch him in such delight.
He continues throwing up however this time... blood also starts to come out and he stops for a while, trying to gasp for air but to no avail. To finish the job, I walk towards him while he's busy suffering. I stood right behind him before pulling out a knife then I grab a chunk of his hair, yanking it up and I slit his throat in one swing. Crimson liquid starts to pour down from his throat and I let go as his face flat on his own blood and puke.
I walk towards his car and grab the water tumbler so that I can hide the evidence since I touched it and it might have some of my fingerprints on it. I look back at Mr. Davies' dead body before walking away and enter the school building once again.
I made my way to the security room and I head inside since I double checked that it's empty earlier, meaning the guards have left and do their rounds starting from the elementary school. I then hack the school's security system and look in today's security footage. I found footage of me following Mr. Davies up to the footage of me killing him at the parking lot. I immediately erase those footages and head out of the room as I made my way to the exit.
'One down, a few more to go.'

Aurora's POV
Everything is so fucking messed up. I have a psychotic stepbrother who raped me and a creepy teacher who is a pedophile and the rumors seem to be true alright. I then receive a call from Heather and I pick up.
"Hello? Heather?"
"Aurora! Have you heard the news from school?!"
"What news?" I asked.
"Mr. Davies died a few hours earlier in school at the parking lot! Can you believe it?!"
"Wait, what? How?"
"I'm not exactly sure but the police said that there's a lot of puke and blood all over where he died. And also, they found his throat slit open and they tried to look for any evidence and some security footage however they're all gone. They said that it seems like someone's poisoned and murdered him, as in a way of taking revenge. I'm guessing it's one of his victims that he sexually harassed back in college however it's so fucked up!"
"Oh my god, so this means... we're getting a new English teacher."
"Obviously. Anyways, I gotta go. My brother is acting crazier than usual. Talk to ya later, Ro!"
"Um yeah, bye."
I hang up and place my phone on the bed. First, I got creeped out of his sexual intentions towards me and then he's dead after that. However, it doesn't make any sense if it's really one of the victims that he sexually harassed in college a few years ago not unless they really spend a lot of time to track him down and decided to kill him yet it still doesn't make any sense.
And why do I have the feeling that it's... Steven who is behind all of this?
