Chapter 108 Sally & Kael

Chapter 108 Sally & Kael
Kael did not cry at first but when he read the letters that Sally’s mother gave him, he got bedridden for a week as he kept reading the letters all over again. He could not accept the fact that Sally had a feeling that she was going to leave but he did not tell him. He could not accept that all those times she spent with him were actually memories for the two of them.

Sally’s death is a major backlash in Kael’s life. He had become aloof and cold. He gave all his time studying to become a doctor but he would go to Sally’s grave every death anniversary. Until then, he had finally become a doctor but still… unhappy.

“Sally…” Kael put the flowers to Sally’s grave. He squatted on the ground and looked at her name that is engraved on it.

“I finally became a doctor but I want to hear you congratulate me so badly.” He tried not to shed tears. “Do you know why I decided to be a doctor?” He had a painful smile. He reached his hand to touch her name.

“When I saw you suffering in the hospital, I could not bear to look at it. I hate the doctors who are assigned to you at that time. They did not do anything to prevent you from sickness. They just made you feel a sense of relief for a short period of time. They did not help you at all.” He paused and looked down.

“If only… your sickness did not come earlier…” Tears fell from his eyes. “I could have done everything and given you my life.”

After 5 years, the “wall” that protected them for years had been invaded by the “monsters''. And Kael is one of the doctors who developed an antibody that can be used as a self-defence from the monsters.

Twenty years of excelling in the medical field, Kael was pressed to save many lives. After saving mankind, he was pressured to get married as he is getting older. He had never gotten a girlfriend, even a girl friend. Young and single ladies would make a move on him but he was never tempted. Until then, he announced to the whole world that his heart had already been locked and reserved for the person who inspired him to be what he had become.

Strangely, when Kael was on his deathbed, a bright light came out from nowhere in his hospital room. It was so bright but it was not blinding. It is also warm and he feels extremely light and comfortable.

“I am Huno. I came to announce that you have been chosen as the messenger of gods.”

The voice was melting his heart. He could not describe how that being looks and sounds. All he can say is … it was an ineffable being. Is he dreaming?

“Are you a god?”

“Yes.”

His eyes went wide. Sally immediately came to mind. Is this an opportunity?

“I will agree to become a messenger of gods but I have one wish.”

“I will do whatever it takes to grant this wish for you.”

“I… I want to meet Sally…”

“Sally, the one in your heart?”

“Yes.”

“Sally has a strange fate like you. You will become the messenger of the gods but she is an apostle of a higher god.”

“Apostle?”

“The other gods have apostles. In the case of Sally, she was the most special among all the apostles. She can remember all her life.”

His eyes expanded. “What do you mean…”

“Sally might have already experienced many deaths as of now. When she dies, she gets reincarnated or transmigrated to another body or another universe.”

His mind twirled around. He could not process his discovery. “Is there a possibility that Sally got transmigrated to another body in this world?”

“I have to say no. She probably has been reincarnated a few times now.”

There was a strange feeling he had just now. It was like excitement for a possibility that they could meet again. “C-Can I meet her in another world? Can I be reincarnated as well?”

“Of course. You will be reincarnated in any world but you might not cross paths with Sally every time.”

“But we can meet a few times?”

“Yes but maybe after a few reincarnation. Sally’s fate is unpredictable so I cannot tell the exact world where she could be reincarnated again.”

“Can I meet her? Can I be with her?”

“Is that your wish?”

“Yes.”

“I will look for a way for you to meet her again. From now on, you are a messenger of the gods. You are no longer an ordinary human.”

And just after meeting that god, his eyes are no longer normal. He can now see all beings in the universe including the gods, ghosts, spirits, fairies, and more. He can also communicate with them as he learns more things about the vastness of the universe. Because of this ability, he had unified the world with the monsters. He was able to control them and ease their hunger with the humans.

Kael died while being surrounded by all the monsters. As soon as his body disappeared, the king of the monsters decided to follow along with his disappearance. That world has finally become free from the monsters.

Kael was reincarnated to a barren world and after two years of living, Huno came to him and announced the good news that he can possibly meet Sally again. Since a god has interrupted Sally's fate, she got stuck in a repeated timeline and they can use that opportunity to be involved as well. When Kael woke up, he was born in a noble’s family in Hwangyen Empire without any remembrance of Sally.

Diamond tears suddenly fell from Zale’s eyes. Like a boat floating above the ocean, his heart sank so deep in the abyss as he felt suffocated.

“Mister, why are you crying?” There were kids attentively waiting for his next story but their teacher, Zale, suddenly cried.

“Are you okay, teacher?” Some of the kids stood up from their seats and looked after him.

“I, I’m alright. I am sorry for making you worry.” Zale immediately wiped his tears and stood up as well. “I will be ending our class today. See you tomorrow!” He faked a smile and said goodbye to each of the children, waited for them to leave until he was finally alone in his little inn.

There he poured all his tears, asking why…

“Why now?”

Why did he have to remember everything now? Why did he have to… feel this after she’s gone? It’s already been 5 years…

It has already been five years since the former Emperor, Darya, rested in peace. Why does he have to be this late?

“In the end…” He whined between his sniffles, “I could not tell you about my feelings, Sally…”

Some feelings… are just meant to not be expressed. Those who have the strongest feelings were usually the subject of secrecy and inability to be expressed. It’s like a burden that could not be extracted from the heart. Like a guilt that keeps tailing the soul. If these feelings won’t be freed, it will become a dark magic that will succumb to one's person and will not be able to be free from the darkness.

Will Zale be able to feel alive after expressing his feelings or would it just be alright to keep his feelings unattached to the vastness of the universe?
