Jess’s POV
Amber moved her hands again and the image faded.
“They are just sitting there. Why?” Amber looked me while she spoke
“I think that they are waiting for the other aliens to deliver the women and maybe to take them all home”
“But they are telepathic. Would they not have figured out that the others are dead?” Hayley also looked at me as she spoke, I felt like the leader, and I didn’t like it
“I have no idea I didn’t think of that. I think either way the best action is to act fast”
“Agreed there” John had come over while we had been talking “We are going to go and attack now. I need you all in your places please” As he walked away, we got up and gave each other a hug.
“Make sure you watch their backs, Jess. Shoot any prick that gets too close to our friends”
“Don’t worry all of us are going to come out fine. I promise to kill anything that gets too close”
Christina smiled at me, and she went back to her water. “I am going to come and sit near you and watch the battle through this. Do you mind if I borrow your mum? I just need her to say some words over and over”
“Sure, but don’t you have to be a witch for that?”
“Yeah, I think she is one. I get a strong vibe from her. If not, then I might be able to do it on my own, but I would need her to watch the water”
“Ok if you believe you saw something in her then go for it. I think she was freaking out too much to be much help with been a sniper anyway” I walked over to mum. She was fumbling with the gun trying to load it. Her hands were shaking so bad that she could not even open the ammo box. “Mum” I called out.
“What is it honey?” She tried to put on a brave face, but I knew that she was shitting herself.
“Can you please go and see Christina. It looks like you get out of shooting after all”
“What? Really” The smile she gave me was of genuine relieved.
“Yes, really she seems to have got it into her head that you are a witch”
“Well then, she would be right. How do you think you ended up been telepathic?”
“What? Really? Why did you not tell me sooner? I had no idea. How the hell did you hide that from me?”
“I have my ways my darling. Now if you will excuse me, I am going to go and see Christina. Can you please do me a favour though?”
“Sure what?”
“Don’t let your father know that I am a witch”
“What? You have not told him either? You have been married what 30 years now? You need to tell him, and you need to tell him now” I grabbed hold of her arm and dragged her over to where my father was sitting talking to Justin. “Good you’re both together. Mum has some news to tell us. Something she has been keeping a secret from all of us. Mum, go ahead. They have a right to know”
“I don’t know how to tell them. What if they hate me?”
“We could never hate you my love tell us what’s going on” Dad walked over and put his arm around mum’s shoulders.
“I can’t I’m sorry” She ran off back towards Christina.
“Fine” I muttered “I guess that leaves me to tell you then. Mum is a witch”
“A what now?” dad looked at me like I had started to speak Chinese, and he could not understand what I was saying”
“She said that mum is a witch and now that I think about it, it does make sense”
“Great can you please now go and tell her that you do still love her”
“Yeah, no worries. Come on dad let’s go and tell your wife that we love her even if she is a witch”
Dad looked at me for a long time and then finally spoke “What does it mean her being a witch?”
“What do you mean? She is still the same lady she just has magic running in her blood”
“So, she is still human so to speak?”
“Yes, dad don’t worry she is not going to start growing a tail or anything. She is like Christina and Amber. But I think by the way Christina has been talking that she is more like her. A healer a mean”
“So that’s how as kids you never seemed to break any bones like the other kids”
“Yes. I think that she had a protection spell on us”
“Wow that is so cool. Our mum the witch”
“Justin sometimes I really worry about you” I grabbed hold of his and dads’ hand and walked them towards mum and Amber. “Mum” I called “Come here and stop acting like a child”
“I am not acting like a child. I just don’t know why you had to tell them about what I am. We all got along fine before they knew”
“So, you feel that your husband does not have the right to know that his wife is a witch?”
“I didn’t say that”
“Look I love you no matter what. I will always love you. The fact that you are a witch well that is just an added bonus”
“Really? You don’t mind?”
“Why? Your still you. As long as you do not turn me into a frog when you get mad then I am fine”
“I promise that I will never turn you into a frog. Any way I am not that kind of witch. I am a healing and protection witch. That is the part that I am going to play in this war. Christina and I are going to place a protection spell on the humans and vampires. That way we will not get hurt and have a better chance of getting rid of the aliens for good. We hope”
