Chapter 77 Aria Went Crazy
Draco's POV
Seeing those thorny vines coming at me, I tried my utmost to summon my magic. But no matter how hard I tried, the power in my hands was just a weak flicker.
As the vines got closer, a wave of despair washed over me.
"Am I, the mighty Dragon King, really gonna be taken down by some damn vines? No way, that's not how my story ends! And if these vines get me, they'll go after Aria next. She's carrying my child—I can't let her be in danger too!" With that thought, I gritted my teeth and slashed my chest, quickly drawing energy from the blood flowing out.
As a warrior race, dragons usually kept their deadliest strike in the blood of their chests. When their lives were on the line, they tapped into that hidden magic for one last stand. It was their ace in the hole, but also their final gamble.
I stared hard at the vines. When they were just three feet away, I hurled the ball of magical energy in my hand. Yet those vines, with a single spin, deftly evaded!
"No! How could they dodge my attack! This strike would be fatal even to the strongest warrior of other races, let alone a small vine. These vines are more terrifying than I thought!" With that in mind, I didn't know how to fend off this deadly attack, so I could only shout in Aria's direction, "Aria! Run!"
But then, an angry wolf howl echoed through the room. "Damn it! All of you should die!"
I was stunned to see Aria transform into a wolf, her eyes turning blood red in an instant.
Aria kept muttering, "All of you die!" Every hair on her body bristled like blazing flames. Her already sharp claws now glinted with a chilling light, as if capable of tearing through anything.
Aria pounced on the vines entangling me with astonishing speed, her figure tracing a blurred shadow in the air!
With her jaws wide open, she fiercely sank her fangs into the vine's main stem. Her razor-sharp teeth punctured the tough surface, sending a spray of green sap everywhere.
The vines seemed to sense a great threat, struggling and writhing desperately, trying to shake off Aria, but her claws gripped the vines tightly, each toe deeply embedded, carving deep grooves.
Aria shook her head wildly, her neck muscles taut, each shake accompanied by the sound of vines breaking.
The vines entwined around me loosened one by one under Aria's assault. Seizing the moment, I broke free, gasping for air, and watched the fierce battle unfold before me.
Aria had now descended into a state of sheer fury, her eyes burning with hatred for the vines. She relentlessly lunged, bit, and tore at them .
Soon, Aria had bitten the vines into countless pieces.
The remnants of the vines wriggled on the ground, as if trying to make a final resistance. But Aria granted them no reprieve; with her sharp claws, she crushed each fragment one by one until the entire room was covered with the remains of the vines. "Pathetic dying throes!" she scoffed.
After the battle, I finally breathed a sigh of relief, pulling off the scattered vines on me. "Aria, you were amazing."
But I didn't get a response from Aria. When I looked up at her, I was shocked to find that Aria hadn't calmed down! She still had that frenzied, bloodthirsty look as she growled lowly, pacing back and forth in the room, "Die! All of you die! None of you will live!" Her eyes revealed a wildness that sent chills down my spine.
How could this be? Just now, watching Aria go nuts on those vines, I thought she was just super pissed. But nope, she had totally lost it! This was bad news because to someone who's lost their mind, everything around them, including me, was a threat that needed to be taken out! What should I do?
Ignoring my exhaustion and pain, I tried to get closer to her. I opened my arms, hoping to hold her and calm her down.
"Aria, my dear, calm down. It's all over," I said softly.
But Aria didn't even notice me, still frantically searching for something to attack in the room. When I got close, she turned and bared her fangs at me, growling, "Die! All of you die!"
I couldn't let her stay in that state of frenzy, or she might lose her mind forever.
After resting for a few minutes, my magical energy wasn't fully back, but I could manage some simple spells. Mustering the last bit of magic in me, I chanted a soothing spell, a gentle blue light rising slowly from my palm.
I gently pushed the blue light towards Aria. It gracefully circled around her, slowly seeping into her very being.
Aria tried to guard against the blue light, but she couldn't stop it from entering her body. She struggled helplessly, trying to shake off it. But the blue light's power gradually took effect; her movements slowed down, and the red in her eyes began to fade.
Finally, she swayed a few times before collapsing to the ground, reverting to her human form.
I rushed over, holding her in my arms, checking for injuries. Fortunately, she only had some scrapes and bruises.
I breathed a sigh of relief, but my worry didn't lessen. I had no idea why she suddenly went berserk, which filled me with deep unease.
Aria's POV
I slowly opened my eyes; my head felt heavy and foggy, like a bad hangover.
I looked around, seeing Draco watching me with concern. The room was a mess, with the floor covered in vine fragments.
"What happened?" I asked weakly. All I remembered was that a mass of vines had attacked Draco and me, and I had watched in horror as those damned vines were about to pierce his chest!
Draco looked at me, a complex expression flashing in his eyes, but he didn't answer my question right away. Instead, he stood up and handed me a cup of hot milk.
He gently explained, "It's over now; the vines have been dealt with. I heated some milk for you. Drink it and rest. I need to check next door."
I struggled to stand up, but found my body still weak. "What's wrong next door?"
"When we were battling the vines in this room, the chaos was overwhelming, yet Serena remained unresponsive. Plus, when I went out to heat the milk, I passed her room, knocked, but she still didn't respond. I need to check." Draco briefly explained and then left the room.
I shook my head, my mind still blank. I couldn't remember how Draco dodged the vines' deadly strike, or how we defeated the vines.
At that moment, Draco let out a cry from the next room.
Startled, I forced myself to get up and head to the next room. Yet, my legs gave out, and I collapsed onto the floor once more.
