Chapter 39 Boundaries.

Chapter 39 Boundaries.
NANCY'S POV

By the time I reached my room, my thoughts were already spiraling.

What did he have to discuss in five minutes? What was he going to tell me that we hadn't already discussed?

I barely had time to process any of it before a knock sounded at my door.

It was him, I didn't even have to ask.

For about a quarter of a second, I didn't move. I sighed heavily, then walked over to the door to pull it open.

He stood there, and the second the door opened, he looked past my shoulder into my room, as if he was seeing it for the first time.

I'd made no changes to the room and left it exactly how he had decorated it for me. It wasn't mine to redecorate after all, considering I would only be staying here for a particular period of time.

Without speaking, I stepped aside and let him in, and he walked in without saying a word to me either.

For a short time that felt like ages, I stood by the door, debating whether I should lock it or not. Eventually, I just closed it behind me with a soft click, then turned around to face him.

Tension resurfaced between us in an instant, and the air grew thick in a way that I quickly found discomforting.

"You said five minutes," I said finally, breaking the silence.

"I know what I said." That undid the ease I felt in a second.

He kept on staring at me without speaking, and gradually, my face began to contort into a frown the longer he delayed.

"The time's ticking," I reminded him when he still didn't say anything.

Finally, after what felt like forever, he exhaled. "It's about what we discussed earlier."

My stomach tightened immediately.

Was he here to break it off? So soon?

Wait, shouldn't that make me happy and relieved? Unless I was actually looking forward to our arrangement.

Countless thoughts ran through my head in a minute, but I kept my face composed.

"What about it?"

"We stick to what we said, no emotion, and we have to make sure we don't complicate things."

"Was that what you came here to tell me?" I raised a brow.

“Yes.” He replied with an unchanging look.

I let out a light scoff, and my face grew firmer, "You can rest assured, I won't fall for you. It's just sex."

He let out a quiet exhale, and I felt a stab in my chest.

Was he so worried that he had to come here to confirm that I had no feelings for him?

Internally, a bitter smile crossed my lips, but I kept my expression neutral.

"Don't worry, I'll only do things within the bounds of what we agreed on, nothing more."

Unlike what I expected, relief didn't cross his face, and it made my brows pull together in confusion.

Wasn't that what he wanted?

Another bout of silence stretched between us, but this time, it was filled with certainty.

Six months was a long time, but at the same time, it was short too.

We had both decided to cross over the line of morality, and in place of that, we had created new lines that couldn't be crossed.

And suddenly, when that thought settled inside of me, the knots of overthinking that had been interwoven inside of me for days snapped.

It felt like a restraint that had been holding me back broke, too.

Because what was the point of holding back now?

We had already decided.

If I were going to play the part of a horny whore who was infatuated with her best friend's father, then I might as well play it well.

I took a small step forward, and he didn't avoid me or move, but I saw the way his eyes sharpened warily and the way his shoulders stiffened.

I smirked, then lifted my hand, pointing a finger outward.

It jabbed against his chest first, and then I began to trail it around slowly.

“No emotions,” I said softly, repeating his rule, while my finger traced over his tight muscles hidden beneath his throat.

His Adam's apple bobbed slightly. “Yes.”

I nodded slowly, then took another step forward, circling him, "But I can ask you to fuck me, right?"

His body stiffened. I was close enough to him to feel it.

Even when his lips were after, no words came out, and my smile widened.

Before I could overthink it, I reached for him and smashed my lips against his.

My fingers curled slightly into his shirt as I pulled him down, slipping my tongue past his lips.

For a split second, he didn't react, as though my action had caught him off guard, and then, he responded.

He took control, and his hands came up behind me, curving my waist firmly.

The kiss was far from gentle; it was filled with all that we had been holding back. His other hand came down to grab the other side of my waist, and he kneaded it while our tongues wrestled.

I kissed him with everything I had, almost like I wanted to punish him, and he matched me, grabbing my ass to pull me into him.

We kissed until we were both breathless, and then, reality snapped back.

This was a risk.

Diana was right downstairs. What if she decided to come into my room?

How the fuck would I explain it if she caught me kissing her Dad?

I pulled back from him fast, and at the same time, he stepped back from me, creating distance as if I'd burned him.

We both stood there, breathing hard and fast while desire thrummed between us.

I knew that if it weren't because of where we were, he would have taken me right then and there."

My lips curved, knowing I had him where I wanted him.

"I should leave," He muttered, but he didn't move an inch even as he said that.

My smile widened, and I pulled both of my hands behind my back, twisting them together, "Yes, you should."

I waited until he got to the door, and as soon as he grabbed the handle, I spoke.

"Midnight."

He froze, then turned around, "What?"

I held his gaze, no longer restraining myself. Even alcohol couldn't have made me so bold.

"I'll come to your room at midnight."

He stiffened again, and then he said, "You shouldn't."

I heard something different.

That wasn't a refusal.

Crossing my arms into each other, I said, "I'll be there at midnight."

His jaw flexed hard, and then he turned and walked out.
