Chapter 7

I looked at Jackson. Was I ready? The thought of meeting them and them disapproving was terrifying, but on the other hand they could like me. The pack currently has a deaf Luna so I could only hope they could accept a mute Luna as well. I was going to drive myself crazy with all the what if’s that were running through my mind at rapid speeds, so taking a deep breath and rounding up all the courage I could I nodded and exited the car. Only to have all courage leave me as soon as I tried to take a step towards the building. Sensing my panic once more, Jackson was soon next to me and started guiding me inside and to where I assume his dad’s office was. The inside of the pack house was just as beautiful on the inside as it was on the outside. However, unlike the outside I did not get a chance to stop and appreciate it. All too soon we were standing in front of a big intimidating door with muffled voices behind it. Raising a hand Jackson knocked on the door causing all voices on the other side to cease.

“Who is it?” a strong deep voice called out.

“It’s me, Dad.”

“Come in.”

Giving me a reassuring smile he opened the door and led us inside. Inside there were three people. A man sitting behind the desk, a woman standing beside him and another man standing opposite them. All three of them turned and looked at us as we made our way closer.

“Mind telling me the reason you aren’t at school?” the man behind the desk asked.

“Because I need to talk to you and mom about something.” Jackson answered.

As I thought, they were the Alpha and Luna. You could feel the power they exerted. Almost as if it was radiating off of them in waves.

“And who is the girl?” his father asked as he studied me.

“Part of what we need to talk about.”

Under different circumstances I would be confused as to why he was being so vague, but with who I assume is the pack’s Beta, in the room I understood. With my ‘condition’ as Christian put it, Jackson was trying to be respectful and make me feel as comfortable as I could.

“I’ll excuse myself Alpha, Luna.” The Beta said, taking the hint. He bowed respectfully before leaving and closing the door.

“What is this about son?” his mother signed.

Seeing this a little wave of relief washed over me. It made me feel more comfortable about signing in front of them. But nonetheless they were still very intimidating.

“Well first I would like to introduce you to Leana. Leana, these are my parents.” he starts signing. “Mom, dad, this is Leana. My mate.”

“Mate!? Congratulations sweet!” his mother signed in excitement.

Seeing how happy she was caused a small shy smile to make its way to my face. However the smile slowly went away as I noticed that his father was making his way to me. His face was emotionless and honesty kind of terrifying. He was tall and muscular and had the aura of ’I can rip you head off one handed without breaking a sweat. Once he got to me I had to look up in order to look him in his eyes. Well as close to looking him in the eyes as I could. With him towering over me I wanted nothing more than to shrink and curl myself into a ball and hide.

“So you’re my son’s mate?” he asked leaning close to my face.

“Dad stop you’re scaring her.” Jackson said, pulling me closer to him.

“If she’s scared of me, how can she be the Luna to our pack?” his father responded, getting slightly angry.

“If you stop and take the time to even remotely get to know her you would understand.” Jackson said, squaring up to his father.

I pulled his arm to try and get some space between him and his father. The last thing I wanted was for him and his father to get into a fight because of me. Reluctantly Jackson backed down allowing me to step in front of him. Looking at the Alpha I took a deep breath and decided to introduce myself.

“Hello Alpha, my name is Leana Woods of the Blood Moon Pack. I am sorry that I got scared, and I am sorry if that disappointed you.” I signed with shaking hands. Jackson’s mother walked up to her husband, looking at me with wide eyes. Whereas his father looked shocked and confused.

Giving Jackson a quick glance I continued.

“I can’t speak. When I was younger my mom passed away and my father went mad because of it. He became so abusive that in order to make sure I couldn’t tell anyone what he was doing he forced a human surgeon to remove my vocal cords. I understand if because of that you disapprove of me being with Jackson and being by his side as Luna.”

Jackson’s mother stepped towards me smiling.

“Hello Leana, my name is Caroline, Jackson’s mother. I think that you being my son’s mate is fantastic, and you have my full support.”

“Thank you Ma’am. That means a lot.” I replied smiling in return.

Jackson looked at the exchange smiling before turning his attention back to his father.

“Dad, what do you think?” he asked.

His father just stared at me, I could tell that he was taking all the information on me that was given during the brief meeting we were having, and using it to try and judge whether or not he deemed me fit to take the spot of Luna. The longer the silence went, the more uncomfortable I felt. I felt so small and weak under his gaze, the more he stared the more insignificant I felt I became.

“Dad.” Jackson called out once more.

Impatience and frustration were clear in his voice, and it was understandable. The silence was going on a lot longer than what would usually be deemed normal and comfortable.

“Okay...” the Alpha started.
