Chapter 12

As we made our way back to Miss Mary’s I just couldn’t stop thinking about what Aaron had said. Had I made the right decision in believing him so easily? If I had, why do I have this sinking feeling in my stomach like something bad was going to happen? All of a sudden a car came barreling towards us from the left causing Jackson to swerve to avoid being hit.

Once the car came to a stop he turned to me wide eyed.

“Are you okay? Did you get hurt?” he asked me, almost frantic.

I nodded as he told me to wait in the car while he went to see what was up with that car and if something was wrong. As I watched him walk away I suddenly heard a knock on my window. I jumped and turned only to see Christian with a crazed look in his eye.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him while stepping out of the car.

“That doesn’t matter right now, all that matters is that you come with me.” He replies looking over his shoulder watching Jackson with the other car.

“What happened?” I asked, tapping his shoulder to get his attention.

I glanced over at Jackson only to see him being forced into the car. My eyes go wide as I try to run to help him, but can’t because I’m stopped by Christian putting a rag over my mouth. Automatically I hold my breath. I’ve seen enough Law and Order, and Criminal Minds to know what was on the rag.

“Why are you making this so difficult Leana? Why couldn’t you have just come willingly?” He asked with hurt seeping through.

If it weren’t for the current circumstances I would have felt bad for him and comforted him, however the burning on my lungs reminded me of the situation at hand and I knew I would have to breath soon. I knew that once I did I would be completely at his mercy. As if sensing my distress he tightened his hold on me, like he was trying to calm and comfort me.

Unable to resist anymore, I gasped for air and sleep came to me soon after.

The next thing I knew, I was waking up on the couch in Christians living room.

“Oh good you’re awake!” I heard a voice call from the kitchen once I completely sat up.

Confused, I turned around to see Christian walking to me with a tray of my favorite foods. I looked up at him scared because of what was happening?

“Where is Jackson?” I asked with shaking hands.

“Don’t worry about him and eat.” He said as he tensed at my question.

“What’s going on Christian? What happened to Jackson?” I asked again.

“ENOUGH ABOUT JACKSON!” He shouted slamming him fist on his coffee table, causing me to jump. “FORGET ABOUT JACKSON, OKAY! HE’S GONE!”

“Christian what did you do?”

“I did what I had to do for us to be together. Jackson was keeping us apart, you two aren’t supposed to be mates. WE were. You and I are supposed to be together, and now we can. With Jackson gone we can finally be together like we were meant to be.” As he ended his rant he gently placed both his hands on the sides of my face.

“What are you talking about?” I asked. “Why are you doing this?”

“Because I love you Leana, and I know you love me too. I found my fake mate months ago but I rejected her on the spot because I knew you were my real mate.”

“If you and I are mates, then why have we never felt the bond?" I asked, completely dumbfounded.

As I looked into his eyes, he didn’t look like Christian. Not the Christian I know and love, not like my best friend.

“Because of the fakes. With them out there our bond couldn’t form like it was supposed to.”

“No Christian, I’m sorry but you are not my mate. My mate is Jackson, we already announced it to his pack.” I replied as stray tears began to roll down my cheeks.

“NO! YOU ARE MINE!” Christian all but screamed as he grabbed a hold of my wrists. “Who has been there for you all these years? ME! Who calmed you down after your nightmares? ME! Who has loved you no matter what? ME! YOU. BELONG. TO. ME!”

As I shook my head and cried his grip began getting tighter and tighter.

“Why won’t you love me?” he asked with tears in his eyes threatening to fall.

All I could do was shake my head in response.

“I’ll make you mine.” he said as his eyes went black and his canines sharpened.

He was gonna mark me. My eyes widened as I began to fight back with everything I had. All of a sudden the front door flew open causing Christian’s grip to loosen, allowing me to free my hands and run. My instincts told me to run to the newcomer, so I decided to listen to them and hope for the best.

“What do you think you’re doing with my mate Christian?” The newcomer asked when I was close enough to grab and bring behind him.
