Chapter 81 Eighty-one

Chapter 81 Eighty-one
“Ladies and gentlemen,”

The kids turned to me, raising their brows curiously.

“You look so happy, Mum Lizzy, what's the big news?”

Matt asked, giving Emma her medication.

“Well, the vacation has been called off,”

“Unn?”

“I've just got an interesting case to solve, so vacation is until further notice. Sophia, spend the day here, I will send for Nala to keep an eye on you guys.”

I spun towards the door, a surge of excitement gushing inside my heart. That was the kind of thing I just needed. Vacation? Pfft, not my thing.

It's time to fight ghosts, maybe it is a real ghost, or maybe a fake one. How I wish it could be a real ghost. I've heard countless stories of Detectives solving cases that involve ghosts.

Could this also be my sign of encountering one? Yipeee.

I jumped inside the car, turned the keys, and sped out of the hospital. As soon as the car stopped in the parking lot, the people from a few days ago hurried towards me.

Seeing them, my blood rage, especially when my eyes fell on the old, rude man.

They tried engaging me in a conversation, the Sask request they'd come with a few days ago, but I ignored them and went my way.

Those people are only wasting their time, their kids are already dead. And instead of putting up a search in the whole city, they didn't.

They want me, who is their servant, to accomplish it for them. Nevertheless, it is their kids, and by now, their bodies would have decayed in that house.

Sitting on a waiting chair at the reception inside the headquarters was a bizarre-looking woman. The officer didn't lie when he said she was weird-looking.

Her eyes were deep in their sockets and she had a dark circle very dark like a coal. Her hair was so messy like a thorn in the bush, and even she looked so pale. Not to even talk of her flaky lips.

She herself looks like a ghost so, how was a ghost following her around?

Oh, wait, is she a ghost and I am the only one seeing her right now? I noticed none of the officers had even lifted their heads to look at her.

To be sure I wasn't seeing her alone, I ambled towards the desk and placed my arms on it.

“Are you guys seeing her?”

I whispered, my voice mild and firm.

“Yes, she is the woman who has been waiting for you,”

I can see. I nodded my head and stepped away from them.

“Hi,”

I waved my hand on her face, but she didn't blink, nor make a movement. Her gaze was fixated on only one place, the wall.

“Ms?” I waved my hand again, but she didn't move. Is she dead? I felt for her pulse, but her heart was beating normally.

Wait a second, is the ghost present? Why can't I see him? Gosh! It would have been so great.

I steadied my hands so close to her ear, and clapped them loudly, the sound breaking out like a crash in the waiting area.

She broke out of whatever nonsense she was in, eyes widened, and hands trembling.

“Detective Lizzy?” The moment my name slipped off her tongue, she broke down in tears. Then she went down on her knees, gripping onto my leg like I owe her something.

“Please help me, he is after my life, he wants to take me with him.”

She cried, her voice shrill and cracky. Even her entire body was quivering.

This woman is in a mess and she seriously needs help. I squatted in front of her, placed my hand on her shoulder, and; Geeze! Her body was so cold.

“Come with me and tell me all that is happening.”

I helped her get on her feet, but had to support her because her legs were numb, and she couldn't move a step appropriately.

“I am listening.”

She looked around, scanning the whole office, hands locked together and pressed between her thighs.

“He was my husband, and he died two months after our marriage. It has been three years now, yet he doesn't want to leave me alone.”

She broke down in tears again, her eyes bawling in their socket in fear.

“Why? Was there anything you did to him which must have triggered him to haunt you after his death?”

She waved her hand, shaking her head vigorously.

“No, I did nothing to him. Besides, we loved each other so much, and it was I who suggested we get married.”

She was speaking so fast that I had to process her words quickly to understand what on earth she was talking about. I wondered if that was the way she normally spoke, or the ghost thing had turned her this way.

She is so young and pretty, yet, she looked like an old woman from frustration, sleepless nights, and fears that had consumed her.

“He said he doesn't want me to fall in love again, he wants me to die and meet him in the other world, but I don't want to, I want to marry again, have kids, and see my kids giving me grandkids too.

Adrian doesn't want me to go through all those happy moments, and he always appears to pester any man who is ready to marry me.

When they see him, they run away and never return, and for those who don't run from him, he kills them. Detective Lizzy, please help me. No matter where I move to, he must make my closet his dwelling place.”

That's creepy. So how do I deal with a ghost now?

I would have turned this case down, but it sounded like fun. And I don't want to miss any part of it.

“What’s your na…”

“Asher!”

Whoa! She was so fast.

“Asher, can you speak slowly so I can understand the things you are saying correctly?”

She nodded her head in understanding, but she kept talking that way. Maybe that is how she speaks, or maybe her brain has been affected.

“Everyone thinks I have gone insane, but nothing is wrong with me, I just need help.”

Sighs. And help she will get. If this woman is left this way, I am afraid her life will be ruined, and she will eventually lose her mind.

“Asher? Take me to your house, I'd like to see the ghost too.”
