Chapter 78 seventy- eight

Chapter 78 seventy- eight
“Thank you, Lizzy, you've succeeded in brainwashing our daughter!”

What da!

Is he serious right now?

Mr. Calloway must be out of his mind.

“You should be grateful that I dug out your daughter, old man. You would have killed this girl for real, I swear. Don't be an ingrate!”

I turned to Emma and Matt.

“Goodbye, kids,”

“Uhn? You aren't leaving, are you?”

“Of course, Matt, but I'll be back tomorrow.”

“Do not leave me with these people, Detective Lizzy, they are going to bury me alive, again!”

Emma cried out.

Well, I understand her predicament, however, I can't stay with her, I have a little girl to go meet at home.

“They won't bury you again, okay? I will leave two officers to guard you. Do not worry, I will come back tomorrow to check up on you. And guess what? Sophia will come too.”

Emma sighed deeply, stealing a glance at her parents. She scoffed at them and looked at me.

“That's fine, but you should come back on time, please. I don't trust them. Can you tell them to leave, please, Detective Lizzy?”

She pointed at her parents, and their gasp broke out.

“Of course, baby girl.”

Sending them out wasn't easy at all, I had to involve the officers before Mr. and Mrs. Calloway left the room.

Emma did well this time, but I will soon talk to her to forgive them.

Back home, as we were watching the TV, a blanket covering our legs, popcorn in one hand, and a remote control in my other hand, the news flashed on.

Five kids were missing; the same kids I killed early today. And no one had seen them, knew where they went, or who the lady who picked them earlier on was.

I'd wanted to laugh out loud, but Noah was beside me, one hand crossed over my shoulder, and the other hand holding a piece of popcorn.

He shook his head at the news, sighing deeply as if he were an old man.

“Can you imagine?”

His words made me turn to him,

“Why would teenagers follow a lady they didn't know? Only God knows what situation they are in now.”

“Perhaps, they must be enjoying themselves now,”

He shifted his gaze towards me, eyebrow lifted in disgust.

The laugh I was holding was beginning to make me choke on the popcorn so I excused myself from the living room.

Inside the kitchen, I let out a laugh, supporting myself with the kitchen counter. Gosh, how I wish I could see the faces of their parents now.

They must have a sleepless night today, and tomorrow, the search continues.

But who cares? I am happy I wiped them off from earth because they would grow up and become a nuisance, disturbing the peace of the city.

They would form a gang, luring innocent kids into their nests, then take advantage of them and dump them somewhere.

“What are you doing?”

My heart nearly jumped out of my mouth hearing Noah’s voice. I was so startled that I choked on the popcorn and started coughing so hard.

He hurriedly reached for the glass cup from the rack, poured room temperature water into it, and sauntered towards me.

“Be careful while you eat, Lizzy,”

He sighed worriedly, returned the cup to the rack, and folded his arms.

“What?”

I asked, throwing the last popcorn in my hand inside my mouth.

“Why were you laughing so hard?” What was funny?”

Pfft.

Why should I tell him? Matt already knows, and Emma was told too. Informing another person would only make the word go out fast.

It's not like I am afraid people would judge me for killing minors, I don't give a damn. I just want to have a little fun with this case before breaking the parents’ hearts.

Since they couldn't train their kids to become reasonable people, I have helped them erase them so they wouldn't grow up and become their headaches.

Noah followed me out of the kitchen, repeating the same question over and over again. But I wouldn't tell him why I was laughing, lest he use it against me later on.

As soon as we were seated, he spread the blanket on my thigh so I wouldn't catch a cold. Then he wrapped his arm across my shoulders and fixed his eyes on mine.

“Were you the one who went to the school and abducted those kids?”

What da!

Noah was trying to catch me red-handed by staring deep into my eyes, but that wasn't going to work, not with me.

That kind of thing has become like a game to me because I started doing it when I was a kid. Now that I have mastered it, he will be disappointed.

“Are you kidding me?”

I scoffed, steadying my gaze without blinking, or moving my eyeballs.

“You love Emma so much, and you can do that just to seek justice for her. Tell me, Lizzy, you didn't do that, right?”

My eyes moistened, and my eyelids became so heavy. But as I was trying to blink and allow him to find out I was the one behind it, I locked my lips with his.

After blinking to my satisfaction, I broke free from the kiss, sneered at him, and balled my eyes.

“Are you calling me a liar?”

He chuckled softly, sipped the wine, and placed the cup on the table beside him.

Then he held my chin, turned my face towards him, and kissed my lips.

However, I wasn't in the mood, I was exhausted from running around the whole day.

“You should get going, Noah, it's getting late.”

He puckered his lips like Sophia always does when I tell her to go to sleep.

“I don't want to go home,”

“You must go. This isn't your house, and I don't want any annoyance.”

I got up, held his hand, and helped him stand on his feet.

“Do not come here tomorrow, okay? You've been visiting too often, and it's…”

He placed his finger on my lips, shushing me.

“You love it this way, babe. Stop complaining.”

Pfft.

Love what?

Okay yes, I love having him around.
