Chapter 30 Thirty
Neck broken, knees bent, and face disfigured too.
I went to the rooftop after Lana’s body was taken away, and for the first time since yesterday, I found an important thing.
My face brightened up, knowing fully well that this case is almost coming to an end.
I found a brown wallet on the ground where the murder took place.
When I picked it up and opened it, an ID card belonging to one of the students in the school was there.
And oh,
Behind his ID card, there is a thunderbolt sign, heavily embroidered on it.
Wonderful!
“This person is the murderer.”
I smiled, returning the ID card to the wallet.
That sign was on the necks of all four girls, which means he drafted it there after he must have killed them.
“The results are here, Detective Lizzy,”
Another officer handed over the autopsy results of Alicia and her roommate, Pamela.
Just as I had thought,
“He first of all gave them each a bottle of fruit juice which he had poisoned.”
I pointed towards three bottles of fruit juice dumped behind the trash can.
“And after the poison started working on them, he used the rod over there to hit their knees, then he went ahead to make the thunderbolt sign on their necks.”
“Geez! What a maniac.”
A maniac indeed.
The poison was enough to destroy the ladies’ organs in a few minutes, but he went ahead to brutally injure them.
Phhh.
“Guys, we've come to the end of this case. Now, let’s go arrest that fool.”
I tossed the wallet to an officer and he shook his head after looking at the ID card.
“Who is Ryan Ralph?”
The chancellor lifted a brow curiously,
“Ryan Ralph? What has he done?”
His eyes widened.
“Is he also dead?”
“No,”
He sighed in relief.
“Ryan is one of our best students from the boys’ section. Why do you want to see him?”
I took the ID card from the officer and waved it in the chancellor’s face.
“He is the murderer,”
He staggered back, mouth agape, and would have fallen if not for the officer who supported him.
“Ryan?”
He exclaimed, covering his mouth.
“Take me to him right now.”
I brought out the pistol from its holder, trying as much as I could to control my anger.
That boy has just gotten himself into a huge problem and I swear, he must pass through the pain those girls went through before they died.
I will make sure I disfigured his face too, and I must design his body with impairments.
“Where is Ryan?”
The chancellor asked when we approached a group of boys gathered under a big dig tree.
They paved the way, revealing a boy who was stirring on a bench, holding a book.
His face is so innocent that no one would believe he is the murderer of four girls.
“Mr. Chancellor?”
When he smiled, his face shone like the moon.
“Ryan, why would you do this?”
The chancellor cried out.
“Do what?”
He is still pretending?
Whack!
I slapped him across the face,
Grabbed his collar and dragged him out of the bench.
“You murderer!”
The boys gasped, exchanging glances.
“What do you mean, lady?”
He tried to break free, but I wouldn't let him go.
I kept kicking, punching, and slapping him until his face had swollen.
“What is happening here?”
The vice chancellor asked as soon as she arrived.
“Ryan is the murderer!”
Other students who had gathered around all exclaimed in shock.
“Ryan? How? This boy doesn't look like he could sin. Are you sure he is…”
I raised my hand, cutting her short.
“Confess in front of everyone, you fool!”
I commanded, wiping off the sweat on my face, but he kept on playing innocent.
“I don't know what you are talking about,”
He cried.
“I am not the murderer!”
Still playing innocent?
I pointed the gun at him,
“Speak or I release it!”
He looked around, lowered his head, and broke down in tears.
“I killed them!”
He shouted,
“What!”
The students, including the chancellors and the staff all exclaimed at once.
“Why did you kill them? And raise your voice!”
I slapped him so hard on the head that he fell again.
“They refused to date me.”
“Ahhhh!”
The students exclaimed again.
“When I sent Alicia a message that I wanted to be her boyfriend, she told me she wasn't interested in that.
She said she was only after what brought her to the school, and won't date anyone until she is out of the university.”
Gosh!
“Why didn't you respect her decision? Why did you kill her?”
“Because no girl has ever turned me down before. All the girls in this school want me as their boyfriends, but she insulted me, that was why I sent her a note to meet me at the rooftop,
Unknown to her, I was going to kill her if she rejected me again.
And when she did, I forced her to drink the juice, broke her knees, inflicted injuries on her, and pushed her down the rooftop after designing that sign on her neck.”
Hmmm
“Why did you kill Pamela?”
“Because she knew I was the killer, and she fought a lot with Alicia.”
“And Hannah?”
“She was Alicia’s best friend so, I assumed she was the one poisoning Alicia’s mind not to love me.”
“And Lana?”
The students’ choruses.
“She hated Alicia, and could have killed her if she had the chance.”
“Murderer!”
They screamed, and others burst into tears.
“Take him away,”
I shoved him to the officers and they handcuffed him and took him away.
“Mr. Chancellor, I will be back for more investigation after this case. A lot of students in this school are waiting for this kind of opportunity to reveal their true identity.”
He didn't understand what I said.
“Many of them are serial killers, but they will show their true selves very soon. Just wait and see.”
Beads of sweat gathered on his forehead.
“Can you elaborate, please?”
