Chapter 146 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 146 Untitled Chapter
My heart leapt, and the phone nearly slipped out of my hand. But that can't be true, right? Noah called earlier and said he was dropping Sophia off at home.

There is no way anyone would be able to kidnap my daughter when she is with Noah. And there is no way they would do that when she is at home.

I have a security guy at the gate who only opens the door for me and Noah alone. He will never let anyone go inside that house to even take my daughter away.

“I am not ready for any stupid games, dude. My daughter is at home, probably taking a nap now, so get off my phone and look for whom to scam!”

I snapped, pulled the phone away from my ear, and hissed loudly. The audacity of some people is beyond my imagination.

Like seriously?

Even though I didn't believe the person who called, my mind wasn't at rest. I thought that what he said was true. But could it even be true? I must find out.

I picked up my phone and dialed Noah’s number, but he didn't answer. I thought Noah was ignoring my calls, then it dawned on me that he might still be in the meeting.

I got up to go home and check up on Sophia because my heart couldn't stop palpitating. And as soon as I got to the door, Noah’s call came in.

“Sorry, I was in a meeting,” he apologized, sighing. “Where is Sophia?”

“Sophia is at home. Is anything the problem?”

See? She is at home. There is nothing wrong with my daughter. That jerk just wanted me to believe him so I would be distracted.

Who knows? He must have done that in order to distract me out of the headquarters so they would attack and take these people away.

“Nothing,” I scoffed and disconnected the call.

However, Noah called again, but I refused to answer him because I wasn't interested in speaking with him.

“I am going home. I want this place to be secure because there is danger lurking around.” I ordered before leaving the headquarters.

On the way home, different thoughts ran through my head, and I couldn't take them out even though I wanted to.

At a point, I had to relax my mind, telling myself that nothing was wrong and everything was fine, but I couldn't relax; the fear grew.

At the gate, I honked and honked continuously for three minutes, but the security guy didn't open the gate. It was so surprising because something like that had never happened before.

I got out of the car, headed towards the gate, and, surprisingly, the foot gate wasn't locked as it had always been.

I pushed it back, stepped inside the house, and the moment my eyes fell on him, my heart dropped. Fears covered my entire body, making my legs wobble and my eyes widen in fright.

“Mr. John!” I screamed, running towards the security guy who had his hands tied behind him and his mouth taped. He was struggling to untie the rope from his hand and, at the same time, shedding tears.

“What happened? Where is Sophia?” I screamed, untying him with trembling hands. I yanked the tape off his mouth, ignoring the fact that he would feel pain. All I wanted was just to hear from him where my daughter was.

“Two men knocked on the door as soon as Sophia was brought home earlier on. Their faces were covered, and they were each holding a gun. When I opened the door to check who was knocking, I was hit on the forehead and…”

The rest of the things he said, I didn't hear again as the thudding sound from my heart blocked my ears. My sight became blurry, tension overtook me, and within a second, I passed out.

When my eyelids parted later, I was lying in a hospital bed, saline running through my veins. I sprang up, yanked off the cannula from my hand, and ran out of the room because that wasn't where I should be.

I need to go out to find my daughter. I cannot lose her just like that. When I got on my feet, they were so numb that I fell on my knees.

“Lizzy!” Noah screamed as soon as the door opened and ran towards me.

“My daughter!” I wailed, clutching my chest. “Where is Sophia? Where is my baby!”

Hearing Noah sigh deeply made me look at his face, and when it was obvious that Sophia had gone missing, I grabbed his collar, holding him tight.

“Where is Sophia, Noah? Where did you take my daughter?”

He was the one who took her home because he said he had an urgent meeting. Noah has never done that before. Even if he had meetings weeks ago, and he was out with Sophia, he would take her with him and bring her home when the meeting was over.

Why now? Why did he choose to take her home if he didn't plan anything?

“What are you talking about, Lizzy? Are you implying I know where Sophia is?”

He heard me right! So why the stupid question?

“I don't know why you chose to suspect me this way, Lizzy. You know I can never do anything like this. Sophia is like a child to me. Can I hurt my own child?”

“Cut the crap, Noah, just cut it! You must be pained that I broke up with you, and because you want to take out your anger on me, you decided to come into our lives again after you planned Sophia’s kidnapping!”

I don't believe Noah. I know he must have a hand in this. There is no way he would have come back to our lives just so we could continue living the way we were days ago.

This is all my fault! I shouldn't have allowed him to take Sophia out; I could have just ditched the court invitation and gone out with my daughter instead.

What kind of mother am I if I can't even sacrifice anything for my daughter? I hate my life!

“Lizzy, listen to me. I have no hand in that. I cannot betray the trust that you and the little girl have in me. Sophia feels so safe around me, and even if I want to kidnap anyone, I cannot kidnap Sophia.”
