Chapter 123 Untitled Chapter
As soon as the commissioner left, the citizens who were making a nuisance in the headquarters were sent away. I didn't know what he told them, but they looked shocked as they left.
“Bosca is in the interrogation room, Detective Lizzy, and the officers who you've left in his mansion to carry out the investigation are called. They said they saw a group of ladies tied in a room inside the room.”
What! Wow!
“Is Nala part of the ladies? What about Alissa? And the lady who went missing a few days ago?” My heart kept beating fast, and my eyes were wide as I asked him the question. I prayed and hoped he would say yes to me.
“I don't know, Ma’am, but they are bringing the ladies over here.”
Omg! I hope Nala is among them.
I wanted to go to the interrogation room, but then, I heard the patrol cars honking outside. I turned towards the exit door, heart pounding in anticipation as I quickened outside. The patrol cars parked in front of the building, and the officers jumped out.
“Where are the ladies you retrieved from the house?” I asked eagerly, peeking at the first car.
“In that car, Detective Lizzy, those girls are a mess,” he sighed deeply, shaking his head in concern.
I stepped away from him and went to the car, and when I peeked through the window, a group of ladies were sitting straight, but none of them looked like Nala. When I didn't see her, I was disappointed.
“There are still a lot of them, Detective Lizzy. They will soon be here.”
I sighed in relief, eyes fixed on the gate, and a few minutes later, two more cars drove in.
“Is Nala among the ladies, officer?” I asked when they came out, but the look on their faces showed Nala might not be among them. “No, Detective Lizzy.” My heart skipped a beat, and I felt so disappointed.
“We found drugs in the house too, and all the ladies, it looks like they are not in their right minds.”
I looked at them, and truthfully, they were a mess.
“Take them to the hospital, and announce it so their parents will know they are in safe hands.”
Gosh! Why didn't I get any report about these ladies? There are almost thirty of them, but not a single one of them was reported missing.
“Tomorrow, I will interrogate Bosca. Make sure you don't open that door until I give the other.”
When I returned home, Noah was pacing anxiously in the living room. He looked like something was disturbing him, and when he saw me, he hurried towards me and grabbed my hand.
“We need to talk, Lizzy.” His tone was sharp and urgent.
“What is it?”
Had Sophia not been sitting there, I would have thought something was wrong with Sophia.
“Let’s go to the room; we can't talk about it here.”
He didn't allow me to talk to Sophia; he grabbed my hand and dragged me away like a criminal.
“What is it, Noah? What is happening? You are acting weird, and you are scaring me.”
He sighed deeply, looked at his phone for a few seconds, and tossed it on the bed. “There is a huge problem, Lizzy.”
“Then spit it out already and stop acting this way. Is it about your company? Has something terrible happened there?”
“No, not my company, but you.”
Me? I am fine. What does he mean to me?
“The man you arrested, Bosca Booster, I want you to release him and remove your hands from his case.”
Uhn? Is he serious right now? “What are you saying, Noah? Release a notorious criminal? Why?” Must he even have a tangible reason?
“Bosca isn't a criminal; he is someone whom you have mistaken for a criminal.”
“What nonsense are you talking about, Noah? Are you saying I don't know what I am doing, or what? This isn't the first time I've been investigating a case; I have been doing it for years now. And you know the kind of person I am; I just don't get involved in cases without first knowing what it is. Also, didn't you see the videos and pictures going around on the internet right now? More than thirty ladies were found locked in a room in that house, drugs were retrieved, and other illegal things were found. Is that also a lie?”
I don't know why Noah is trying to talk me out of his case; he isn't usually like this. He is always supporting me when it comes to cases like this. He is the type who loves to see that justice is served.
“But you weren't in the mansion with them when they found all those things. Don't you think they are lying? Maybe Mr. Bosca’s rival bribed your officers to frame him?”
Jeez! Noah is provoking me right now. What on earth is he talking about?
“Why are you defending him, dude? Are you in business with him? Or you are a part of his dirty game?” I asked, eyes fixed on him in suspicion. There is no way he would be defending the man this way when the evidence is clear.
Even the citizens who were rallying around earlier on are all over the internet, resharing the posts and leaving angry comments about the man who had fooled them all these years.
“Absolutely not, Lizzy, you know I can never be a part of that. I am just worried that Mr. Bosca has been framed and that is going to ruin your reputation.”
Pfft. Just that?
“It is not, dude. I am doing the right thing.” I scoffed and stepped away from him. “And stop acting this way, dude. You look like you are scared to be caught, too.”
“No way, I was just looking out for you. But since you insisted on doing this, then good luck to you. After all, you are strong-headed when it comes to things like this; you never listen.” He mumbled something under his breath when I turned my back on him.
“What was that?” I asked, turning towards him. I heard something like ‘keep doing what you want until you get us all into trouble,’ but I am not sure if that is what he said.
However, before he could answer me, my phone rang.
“When I am done with this call, you must repeat what you said, Noah,” he chuckled softly, walking out of the room.
“Detective Lizzy? I just saw the videos trending on the internet right now. Is it true you found all those things in Mr. Bosca’s house?” the commissioner asked over the phone, sounding shocked. “Yes, commissioner. Now you see who he really is?”
