An Escape

\[Nadia’s POV\]

I sit and wait, staring at my door, until the one responsible for bringing my dinner appears. When they do, I put on my most pathetic face and watch as they lower my tray and then proceed to unlock my wrists so that I can actually pick up food.

Once I’m free, I take advantage and attack, pulling the weapon I was given and slashing it across the guard's throat. As she falls, I reach out and grab her head, then twist it, snapping it cleanly before she gets the chance to alert her friends.

Smirking, I start to search her until I find her keys so I can unlock my ankles, and once I’m free, I quickly pull off her clothes and put them on.

“Thanks, sweetie." I giggle, blowing a kiss, before grabbing her hat and pulling it on my head so that my face is covered. “Your service is greatly appreciated.”

Giving the woman one last look, I begin to move, closing the cell door behind me so that no one will realize what happened too quickly.

Shoving my knife back in my pocket, I begin to move, making my way through the halls of the prison until I reach the main holding tank. Inside, there are many women dressed in jumpsuits laughing and talking amongst themselves while they enjoy their dinner.

Stopping, I take them all in as a plan begins to build, and when I’m sure it is exactly the distraction I need to get out of here unnoticed, I head toward the wall where a single red button sits underneath glass that says break in case of emergency.

Lifting an elbow, I do just that, breaking the glass and pressing the button so that alarms begin to blare, and when chaos erupts, I move, making my way toward the cell's main door and unlocking it. However, as I walk out, I don’t close it, allowing all those women to escape and run rampant around the jail while all the other guards and officers head toward the main exit.

“Too easy,” I giggle to myself as I step outside, only to find my accomplice standing on the stairs, waiting. “Why are you here?”

“Did you think that I was just going to let you skip away?” She asks, lifting herself from the stairs and giving a stretch. “We’re friends, aren’t we?” She continues, pouting her bottom lip. “Don’t friends stick together?”

“I don’t recall ever considering you a friend,” I point out, narrowing my gaze. “So why don’t you cut the bullshit and tell me why you’re here?"

“It’s gone,” she sighs, looking annoyed. “And I’m pretty sure my little sister has it.”

“The watch?” I ask, remembering that she had me send some people to destroy the beach house to destroy that thing. “What’s so important about it?”

“That’s for me to know,” she responds. “But if I want to accomplish my goal, I have to find it, and I can only assume it is with my sister.”

“Then go and get it from her." I sigh. “Anyway, could we go somewhere else before I’m spotted? I created a diversion, but I don’t know how long it will last.”

“Sure,” she giggles, motioning for me to follow. “I know just the place.”

Frowning, I consider whether or not I can actually trust going anywhere with this bitch since she is much more scheming and crazy than me.

“Don’t worry,” she adds when I remain in place. “I still need you, so I won’t hurt you.”

Need me. She was talking as if I were an item to be used, and that pissed me off, but I wasn’t in any place to try to cause trouble, and that pissed me off even more.

“Lead the way,” I sigh, deciding for now that I would play along.

Twenty minutes later, I find myself in a posh apartment with vaulted ceilings and pristine white furniture and walls. It screams extravagance, even though the one who lives in it is nowhere near being able to fit the part that she is desperately trying to pretend to be.

“Now,” she sighs, kicking up her feet and bringing a glass of red wine to her feet. “Shall we discuss our next move?”

“Sure,” I respond, leaning back in my seat while enjoying the feel of the soft robe I wear brushing against my skin. “What are you planning?”

“My dear sister and your man have escaped the country,” she begins, sending a wave of anger through me. “But,” she continues, lifting a finger as I prepare to demand to know where they are. “Intel has revealed that they’ve gone to Italy, and they are staying at one of the properties of a big business mogel over there.”

“Intel,” I repeat. “And how trustworthy is this provider of intel?”

If she thought I was just going to go along with her when I didn’t know a damn thing, she was wrong.

“Very,” she confirms. “He’s my closest ally, and he would never steer me wrong.”

“If that’s the case, why did you need me to help you until now? Couldn’t he have simply located that watch you’re desperately trying to get your hands on, and then you could go about your day?”

“But then your man would still be with my sister,” she points out. “I don’t care one way or another if they’re together; I simply want what was rightfully mine.”

Rightfully hers. If the shit was meant to be hers, then it would have been hers. If she had to go through this much trouble in order to claim it, then clearly it wasn’t meant for her. But I wasn’t going to say that out loud. She and I had a similar enemy, and if she took that bitch down, then Rosco would be all mine.

“When are we leaving?” I ask, guessing her next move. “Since you know where they are located, then there is no point in continuing to hang around here. The best move would be to go to them so that you can get that watch.”

“Bingo,” she grins, leaning forward. “I’ve already booked a flight for early tomorrow morning. Be sure to get a good night's rest because when we land, our plan will go into full effect.”

“And what plan is that?” I ask, curious despite knowing that I shouldn’t trust a psycho. “It seems you’ve already got everything figured out.”

“My sister can’t possibly turn her back on her poor, long-lost sister,” she responds, giving me the look of someone who has been through it and was treated unjustly. “Once she figures out that I exist, she will most certainly want to help me, as we were both wronged by our father.”

“And what if she doesn’t?” I counter. “What is your plan, then?”

“Denali will,” she giggles. “I have been following my sister for years, and I know her character. Because she has been the victim for so long, she won’t turn her back on someone who has been hurt just like her.”

Rolling my eyes, I don’t bother arguing. If she wanted to live in her world of delusion, then so be it, but I wasn’t going to join her. Once we reached our location, I fully intended to just off the bitch and be done with it. It would kill two birds with one stone, and I loved a double kill.
