Experimentation

\[Serenity’s POV\]

The next morning, I wake up with a pleasant tingle between my thighs. It makes me smile as memories of what happened the night before come rushing back. Each. And. Every. Detail from the new expressions I got to see on Maverick’s face to the sensations, everything.

Goddess, it was amazing and exhausting all at the same time, but despite all this, the urge to do it again hits me.

Sighing, I roll over, expecting the man in question to be beside me still sleeping, but I’m only met by a cold and empty space that makes me roll my eyes.

“Of course,” I murmur, sitting up so that the blanket around me falls around my waist, revealing my still-bare chest, making the nights events that much more real. “We had sex.” I whisper, feeling a goofy smile coming to my face. “Maverick and I had sex, and it was amazing.”

Honestly, I didn’t think amazing was a strong enough word to describe the way I felt during the whole experience. Mind-blowing. Euphoric. Those were closer, but even then that wasn’t enough. It was just so... perfect.

The whole thing was perfect, and even now I feel that much closer to Maverick because I got to see and hear things come from him that no one else ever would.

Giggling, I grab my pillow and pull it against me, feeling like a damn kid who just discovered a really good secret, but before I can become too much of one, a knock sounds at my door.

“Coming!” I call, jumping up and grabbing a robe. “One…”

“Serenity!” My father calls, causing my heart to skip a beat as I realize that I still smell like Maverick. “Are you awake?”

“Just woke up!” I call back, knowing that I needed a shower before I faced anyone. “I’m going to get a shower and then head down, okay?”

Growing quiet, I wait as my father considers what I’ve said.

“Okay,” he responds after a long pause. “But don’t take too long. Tristan should be arriving soon.”

“Got it!”

At his words, I remember what would be happening today and can’t help but feel a bit of hope flaring over whether or not Maverick could be changed back into a wolf.

Later, I take the stairs two at a time, arriving just as the doors to New Moon’s packhouse open and Tristan strolls in with that experimental glimmer in his eyes.

“Serenity!” He calls, moving forward to hug me but stopping as a growl escapes Maverick. “Whoops,” he chuckles unphased. “I guess he has gotten even more protective since the last time that I saw the two of you.”

“Yeah,” I laugh, blushing. “I guess he would be since we are...”

“That isn’t important,” my father announces, coming to join us. “You didn’t come here to catch up. You came here to help us investigate something.”

“Right,” Tristan grins, lifting the bag in his hand. “I’ve brought everything that I will need, so please lead the way to my la... I mean the infirmary.”

Shaking his head, my father turns and motions for him to follow. And when he does, Maverick and I fall into step behind. As we move, I can feel Maverick’s fingers just barely brushing against mine, and it makes the memories of the night before appear. And by the time we reach our destination, I’m more than relieved for the distraction that comes from what is about to happen.

“Welcome!” Uncle Jose calls, motioning for us to come in. “Is this the lad that you told me about?”

“It is,” my father confirms. “But who is this with you?”

As he speaks, my gaze shifts to a woman who stands to the side. She’s dressed in a long lab coat and has her long blonde hair pulled up on top of her head. Just from the looks of her, you can tell that she’s a doctor, and if I look closely, I can almost see the same insanity behind her blue eyes, which are hidden by large, thick-rimmed glasses.

Well, this is interesting. I giggle inwardly, wondering whether or not this woman and Tristan would hit it off. Wouldn’t it be nice if they were each other’s fated.

“Hello,” the woman announces, snapping me out of my head. “I’m Jolene, and I’m New Moon’s doctor. I’ll be helping your…” For a moment, she stops, eyeing Tristan as if he were something disgusting before tearing her gaze away. “Well, whatever his title is.”

“I’m a doctor,” Tristan huffs, bristling. “Isn’t it obvious?”

Obvious. Did he really think that he looked anything like a doctor with his blonde hair hanging around his face messily and his dark circles? He wasn’t even dressed like a doctor or a healer; how was anyone supposed to recognize him as someone with authority?

“Right,” Jolene giggles, giving Tristan a smug look. “Of course you are.”

“I am,” he huffs, looking like a child. “And I don’t need you to assist me with this experiment. I can handle it myself.”

“Oh?” Jolene aks, quirking a brow. “Then why did my alpha insist that I help?”

“I don’t know,” Tristan admits, turning to look at Uncle Jose, who is watching on in amusement. “I haven’t had the chance to ask.”

“Isn’t two juicy brains better than one?” Uncle Jose asks with a laugh.

“Not when it comes to this.” Tristan explains. “This experiment is a fairly simple one. It would be different if we were trying to find a cure to some disease, but a bit of blood testing isn’t that big of a deal and can easily be done by…”

“Testing blood?” Jolene chirps, her eyes sparking with excitement and her cheeks flushing. “Did you say that we get to play with blood?”

Eyes widening, I watch Jolene as she becomes almost orgasmic over the mention of messing with blood, and I’m certain that she and Tristan are the exact same creature.

“Can I draw the blood?” She pushes, grabbing a needle and holding it up. “Please?”

At her words, all eyes come to me, and I see many different expressions in them, each telling me to say one thing or the other, but it is Maverick’s gaze that speaks to me the most, and that’s why, after taking his hand, I nod my head and shift my attention to Jolene, who waits for an answer.

“Alright,” I say, going and hopping up on the single bed that sits in the room. “I’ll let you do it.”

“Great!” Jolene claps, rushing toward me with a look of excitement and impatience in her eyes. “Then let’s begin!”
