I put one of my earphones in and started working. I started with the travel files as instructed. All of the documents need to be sorted, scanned, and then filed electronically, and physically. First, I sorted them by date, then place, then hotel, then airline. I was jamming to my playlist when I felt someone grab my shoulder.
“Karma”, I said as someone touched my shoulder.
“Shit, oh I am sorry Mr. Logi you scared me”, I said, holding my chest. How the hell did I not hear him come in?
“My apologies, Karma. I did not mean to scare you. I just came to tell you it is lunchtime”, Mr. Logi said, smiling at me.
“Oh, time went by so fast I did not even realize it was already noon”, I said, looking at my watch.
“My cousin is indisposed and I usually eat lunch with him. Would you like to join me for lunch?”, he asked me.
“Sure”, I said with a shrug.
We made small talk before we went downstairs to the restaurant. I noticed once we walked in Mr. Logi was looking around. His eyes are on a group of women who are sitting at a table eating salads. I couldn't help but laugh. It seemed like the room got quiet the moment we walked in. I followed Mr. Logi to a table and looked at the menu. The food here looks good. I looked over to the next table and saw a plate of food that was beautiful.
“Hello, Mr. Logi and lady”, a man with beautiful grey eyes.
“Hello, Vincent, this is Karma my new personal assistant”, Mr. Logi introduced us.
“Hello Vincent it is nice to meet you”, I said with a smile. His eyes just draw me in. Mr. Logi cleared his throat and gave Vincent a look. I am not sure what is about.
“Nice to meet you as well. Now what can I get cha”, he said, smiling, showing his pearly whites.
“I will have a grilled chicken sandwich with no tomatoes, with cranberry juice”, Mr. Logi said, giving Vincent an emotionless look, then handed him the menu.
He drinks cranberry juice, most men drink soda or other justice. Aunt Jackie told me that a man who drinks a lot of cranberry juice sperm tastes like no other. She said cranberry juice does to the male tract system what it does to us women.
“I will have a protein bowl with lamb, no tomatoes, extra onions, with extra sauce on the side. And water with a lemon slice”, I said, smiling at Vincent and handing him the menu.
“I hope you will like the food here. And what an odd choice”, he said, giggling a little.
“Odd choice?”, I asked.
“Yeah, I just added the protein bowls to the menu because the guys that work here said the menu has too much rabbit food on it”, he said with a slight laugh. His laugh is like a great song, soft in the beginning and hard at the end.
“What is rabbit food?”, I asked. I never heard of such a thing.
“Salad and other green-based food items”, he said as Vincent came and handed us our drinks.
“Protein is good to have, especially organic. Besides, protein keeps the body energized. Also, lamb is my favorite type of protein other than beef liver”, I said, smiling.
Mr. Logi and I made small talk until our food arrived. He told me in a month we would be going to Italy for a business party for one of his companies. I dug into my protein bowl and I must say it was good. My phone alerted me of a message. I opened it and it and I had a message from Aunt Jackie.
Aunt Jackie: For your information, your package has been here since this morning. And a legal envelope with it.
Aunt Jackie: Also, I made up the contract for you and your Sir. Read it and have him sign it when you see him.
Me: Okay, thanks I am coming there after work.
I looked up and saw Mr. Logi typing on his phone as well. He does not look happy.
“There is an emergency board meeting at one. It is your first day. I just want you to take notes and watch. When we get back upstairs, we just grab a notepad and pen. In the conference room, there will be a chair behind the one I will be sitting on. That chair is yours”, he said as we got up to leave the restaurant.
Mr. Logi and I went back to the office. I grabbed a pen and notepad. When we walked into the conference room, it seemed all eyes were on me. The room has men in it that are looking at me with hunger in their eyes.
“Gentlemen, this is my new personal assistant, Karma. Karma, these are the board members of all my companies, Mr. Logi said introducing me.
“Well, damn, she is hot. Did she sign the non-fraternizing contract yet?”, a man sitting on the far left said. Just by looking at him, I can tell he is a perve.
“Yes, she did, Scott”, Mr. Logi said annoyed.
“Damn, that is too bad. You know sweet cheeks, if fraternizing begins before you sign the contract you are home free”, Scott said, and when he called me, sweet cheeks, I knew he was not talking about the cheeks on my face.
“There goes that big ass sexual harassment lawsuit”, another man said, laughing.
“Please do not pay any mind to Scott or my cousin Jake. They are used to this being an all-boys club”, Mr. Logi said, shaking his head.
“Not that we do not mind looking at a beautiful woman like you”, a man sitting next to Scott said.
“Dex give the woman a break. It's her first day. We do not want to scare her away”, Jake said.
“Hello Karma, my name is Jake. These are Scott, Dex, Roland, Dell, and Toner”, Jake said, introducing the men to me.
“Hello, Jake, gentlemen nice to meet you all”, I said with a smile, which seemed to make them stare hard at me. First, now these men. I have had more men look at me in the last three days than I did in four years after my ex and I broke up.
“We should get this meeting started”, Mr. Logi said as he walked to his seat.
I sat and took notes of people, dates, places, and money. I noted as I was taking notes that all of the men, excluding Mr. Logi were staring at me. If they were not talking about company issues, they were staring at me. I noticed Jake staring at me, but not in a sexual way but in a way that said he had seen me before and he was trying to place it. I looked at him the same way when he started talking.
I would not be surprised if all of these men visited Aunt Jackie's place one or more times. Their stares do not bother me at all, only because I am fully dressed. The meeting lasted three hours. Like what the hell are all of their meetings this long? As the men left, they all said their byes to me. The only people left in the room are me, Mr. Logi, and Jake.
“Karma, I am sorry for this old fart's behavior. They come from a different time when being inappropriate at work is acceptable. I hope they did not scare you off”, Jake said with a smile.
“Gosh no they are just being men”, I said with a smile.
“And what does that mean”, Mr. Logi said with a raised eyebrow.
“Well, Mr. Logi, what I mean is that men think about their wallets and something else”, I said, looking down at his crotch, then back at him.
“She does have a point, cousin. She will do just fine here. And why the hell do you have this woman calling you Mister?”, Jake asked.
“You are right, Jake, and so is Karma. Karma, from now on please call me Lance”, Mr. Logi said.
“Okay, Mr.....Lance”, I said, smiling at the two men.
“That settles it. Karma, please have a summary of your notes e-mailed to me before you leave”, Lance said.
I left to go to work on the meeting summary meeting. The meeting ended at four. I have one hour to get this summary done to be able to leave at five. This day cannot end soon enough. All I want to do is leave here and go to Aunt Jackie's house to get the package that is waiting for me.
