Chapter 65: I’m Ready
Miranda
The wedding hall was bustling with activity, with florists adjusting each petal, planners running back and forth, and musicians tuning their instruments. I was at the center of it all, adjusting every detail to make our wedding perfect.
Magnus had promised a relaxed and worry-free day, and I was determined to make that promise come true.
“Miranda, do you need anything else before tomorrow’s ceremony?” asked Joana, the planner, with a notepad in her hand.
“I think we’ve got it covered, Joana. Thank you for taking care of everything,” I replied, smiling at her professionalism.
As I walked around the venue, I ran into the florist, who showed me a new flower arrangement he had prepared.
“What do you think, Miranda? Is this what you were looking for?” I observed the arrangement carefully and nodded in approval.
“It’s perfect. Magnificent job.” As I moved on, I saw the waiters organizing the tables and testing the cutlery arrangement.
Everything seemed to be in order, but the tension in my shoulders didn’t lessen. Patrick approached with his usual calm expression.
“How’s everything going, Miranda?”
“Good, but I feel like I’m forgetting something important. Is everything secured?” Patrick smiled, trying to dispel my worries.
“Everything is under control. Magnus and I have reviewed every detail. You have my word that everything will go perfectly.” I relaxed a bit at his reassuring words.
Then, I headed towards the area where the ceremony would take place. The decoration was exquisite, with floral arches and a white carpet leading to the altar. I looked up at the sky, crossing my fingers for favorable weather.
Magnus came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders.
“How’s everything going, my love?”
“Good, but I can’t help feeling like I’m forgetting something important.” Magnus looked at me tenderly.
“Everything will be perfect, I promise. And remember, this is just the beginning of our life together.”
I nodded, feeling a warm thrill of excitement. As we continued adjusting the final details, I felt grateful for the team we had around us and excited for the day ahead. The wedding was taking shape, and tomorrow would be the start of a new chapter in our lives.
With those thoughts in mind, I decided to put aside my worries and immerse myself in the joy of this special day. We arrived home, where the hustle and bustle of the wedding was left behind, but not for long.
Magnus, with the elegance that characterizes him, said goodbye with a soft kiss before immersing himself in business matters. Even though the wedding was just hours away, work wouldn’t wait.
“I’m sorry, love. It seems there are some matters I need to attend to before the ceremony,” he apologized, adjusting his tie as he headed towards his study.
“Don’t worry, Magnus. I understand that work is important. I’ll be fine with Melany and Silvia, who will be arriving soon,” I assured him, although deep down I wished he could enjoy these moments before the wedding as much as I did.
Melany was on the floor, playing with her blocks while Silvia checked her to-do list for the day. The little one seemed to be enchanted with the colors and shapes, completely oblivious to the chaos of the outside world.
“Well, it looks like the bridesmaids have some things to sort out, don’t they, Melany?” I said, smiling as I played with her on the floor.
Silvia joined in the fun, laughing and helping me with some details that still needed attention. Although Magnus was busy, feeling the relaxed and positive energy at home filled me with a sense of bliss. I couldn’t wait to see Magnus again and for this new stage of our lives to begin.
The sun began to set, and Silvia suggested that Melany might enjoy a walk in the garden before the wedding. We headed outside, enjoying the gentle evening breeze. Melany excitedly pointed out the flowers as we walked.
“Do you think everything’s ready for the wedding, Melany?” I asked in a playful tone.
Melany’s musical laughter was my answer, and I felt the stress of the day dissipate. As we enjoyed our little outdoor getaway, I realized how fortunate I was.
Although the preparations had been hectic, these moments with my daughter and Silvia were precious. I knew that at the end of the day, what mattered was not the perfection of the wedding, but the love and union we were celebrating. Upon returning home, Magnus finally joined us, with a radiant smile on his face.
The tension of business faded, at least for the moment.
“I’m ready for our wedding, Miranda. How about you?” Magnus asked, looking at me fondly.
“More than ready. I can’t wait to walk down the aisle with you,” I replied, feeling the emotion take hold of me. I never imagined that I could truly get married, be happy, and start a family.
With so much work before meeting Magnus, I suppose I had lost sight of what’s important. Now things are different. The afternoon continued in harmony as we prepared for one of the most important days of our lives. With Melany playing cheerfully, Silvia taking care of the last details, and Magnus by my side, I felt complete and full of anticipation for the future that awaited us.
With the house in relative silence and the afternoon light filtering through the curtains, I realized that this was my last moment before the big day. Magnus and Melany had gone out to do some final shopping, and Silvia had to go home, giving me valuable space to relax before everything changed.
I opted for a bath, letting the warm water soothe my nerves. The candles flickered softly, creating a tranquil atmosphere in the bathroom. As I submerged myself in the tub, my mind filled with thoughts about the marriage I was about to begin.
The calm was interrupted when the phone rang. It was Silvia, calling to make sure I was okay and to share some words of encouragement before the big day.
“Miranda, how are you feeling?” Silvia asked, her voice full of affection.
“A bit nervous, I must admit. But I’m excited. I’m about to marry Magnus, and I couldn’t ask for anything better,” I confessed, feeling a lump in my throat. Silvia responded with words of encouragement, reminding me of the strength I had shown throughout the challenges we faced.
We talked about life, love, and expectations for the future. It was as if each of her words resonated in my heart, giving me the certainty that I was making the right decision.
“Remember, Miranda, this is your day. You’re about to join Magnus and build a life together. Trust that everything will turn out wonderfully.” I felt a sense of calm that I needed.
The conversation continued for a while, and when I finally hung up the phone, I felt ready to embrace what was to come. I left the bathroom with a renewed sense of confidence. The house was filled again with Melany’s laughter and Magnus’s footsteps, who were returning from their shopping.
The anticipation in the air was palpable, and I joined them with a smile. The night advanced in final preparations and family laughter. With each passing moment, I felt more secure in the choice I was about to make.
Tomorrow would be the start of a new stage, and I couldn’t wait to see what the future would hold for us as a family.
