Chapter 71 Out For Her Blood
Chapter Seventy Two
“Oh please,” Aria brushed off his remark, “It’s my first time here. How would they make the dresses fit me?”
“It’s because the young madam is so lovely. That’s why all the outfits were a perfect fit!” One of the employees cooed in praise.
“Yes ma’am, at this point it’s not about the dresses. You’re the one giving these outfits value!”
“Yes, that’s right! I’m sure Mr Graves also agree.”
Aria felt her cheeks warm up at the sweet talking of the employees, “Alright, enough flattering.”
Aria was about to walk into the changing room once more, when a high pitched female voice came floating towards them.
“Where are you all running off to? Is no one going to attend to me? Is this how you serve customers here?! Or do you all have a death wish?!”
Aria froze, her blood running cold.
That voice.
It sounded just like…
The next second, the door to the private area was pushed open and two figures appeared.
It was Kurt Eugene And Vera Hale.
When Vera had walked into the shopping mall earlier, she had expected the employees to fawn all over her.
Like they always did whenever she came to shop at the Graves shopping complex.
But today, it was a different case.
Only one measly employee had greeted her at the lobby, and Vera had immediately became offended.
She had been livid when the employees quickly bowed and asked her to have a lovely shopping experience, like she was expected to just go around by herself, without an entourage of employees trailing after her.
What nonsense!
“How dare they treat me like this despite the amount of money I spend here every single time?”
Kurt, who had accompanied her that day, was also furious.
“How dare you treat us this way?” He asked through gritted teeth, “Don’t you know who we are?”
The employees quickly bowed and was flabbergasted but she decided to keep her cool, giving the audacious couple a calm smile.
“Of course I know who you are, sir.” She uttered cautiously.
Who on earth would not recognize the fiancé of the dead Elara Vaughn, as well as her best friend, Vera Hale?
There were rumors that Kurt would be taking over the Vaughn empire, and that would catapult him into wealth so immense and unlike anything he’d ever expected.
The employee knew better than to offend someone like this.
Vera was the one who had been patronizing the mall alone most times and she was always treated fairly.
But today, perhaps it was because Kurt Eugene was accompanying her, she feels like she should be treated like royalty.
But now, the actual royalty was in the building. Of course she would not expect that the employees would be at her beck and call when the owners was right there, right?
The employee explained this in simple terms to the couple, telling them that the private area was occupied at the moment and Vera could only shop at the stalls.
She also assured them that they would receive the best service and also the best shopping experience that day, as she would be personally attending to them.
Vera listened with growing anger.
She had been in a very bad mood all week, ever since Elara’s funeral was held.
This was not because she was in anyway missing her friend, or regretful of the actions she had meted out to her.
She was pissed off because it seemed like all their plans would not be easily achieved in the coming days.
The board of directors at Vaughn Empire were adamantly against Kurt taking over the Empire. They did not care if he was Elara’s fiancé when she had been alive.
They viewed him as a stranger, an incompetent one that.
Vera had almost gone ill with frustration. She had thought that once Elara was out of the picture it would be so easy to take over everything that she had ever had.
When they had held Elara captive in that warehouse, they had forced her to sign over everything in her name to Kurt Eugene.
She had been the top figure in Vaughn Empire and Kurt believed she had the highest shares.
But to his surprise, that was not so at all.
He had not taken into account the shares of her parents as well, and that of the other top directors at the board.
Elara had been quite smart with her assets that way.
Vera wanted to come into everything so badly. She nagged Kurt for days, cried and thrashed their apartments.
Kurt then promised to take her shopping to soothe her nerves and Vera had allowed herself to be convinced.
She had come to the shopping mall to lighten her already sour mood because she knew how the employees always fawned over their VIPS here.
She had always been treated like regular but she knew with Kurt’s presence, they would not dare to look down on her today.
But here was this bitch now telling her that she would be treated like all the regular customers?
Outrageous.
Without warning, she drew back her hand and gave the employee a deafening slap, to the shock of both Kirt and some of the onlookers standing around.
“Vera, what the hell are you doing?” Kurt hissed at her, grabbing her hand to caution her.
Vera shook him off, then walked off towards the direction of the private area, ignoring the calls of the aggrieved employee.
She was just about to step into the private area, determined not to give a fuck about whoever was in there. It could be the president or a member of the royal family in Crestmont… she did not give an actual fuck.
She was about to push open the door, when it was pulled open from the inside and she came face to face with several of the employees, some of whom were even hurrying past her!
“Where are you all running off to? Is no one going to attend to me?!” She uttered in her sharp, high pitched voice, “Is this how you serve customers here?! Or do you all have a death wish?!”
Without waiting for an answer, she pushed open the door to the private room and sauntered in, Kurt following closely behind her and shaking his head in bewilderment.
They both stopped in their tracks when they came face to face with the occupants of the private area.
Vera let out a small gasp and stumbled backwards in shock, as her eyes met that of Lucian’s. Even Kurt’s mouth dropped open in shock.
“Lucian Graves…” Vera muttered in a daze, then glanced at his side, freezing completely.
No, she didn’t recognize the woman standing beside him.
But…
Why was the woman giving her such look of pure hatred?
Vera swallowed hard, feeling her body trembling slightly, unable to tear her gaze from the eerie green ones of the woman in front of her.
Who the hell was she?
And why did Vera feel as though this woman was out for her blood?
