Chapter 47 They Lied To Us!
Chapter Forty-Seven
“It was no mistake when you threw it at her.” Lucian uttered, his blue gray gaze looking very icy indeed, “Isn’t that right, Jane Lee?”
The entire hall had gone silent once more as they watched the scene.
The Beaumont Family had gone pale with shock at Lucian’s appearance, and Selena could not take her eyes off Lucian.
She had never seen him this up close before except in pictures but she’d never expected the sick invalid to be this gobsmacking!
She exchanged looks with her mother, her fists clenched by her side, barely unable to keep her emotions in check.
Jane and her father could only tremble with fear before Lucian. They could not even meet his gaze as they shook in fear.
“L…Lucian…” the Minister stammered but Lucian had his icy gaze fixed on Jane Lee.
“How dare you try to hit my wife?” He uttered through gritted teeth.
The minister immediately fell to his knees in front of Lucian.
“Forgive me! Lucian! Please, I never knew she was your wife!” He turned to the Chairman and Madam Graves, “Chairman, please forgive me! I had no idea…”
“Dad! Why are you begging?!” Jane Lee uttered, stomping her foot on the floors. She glared at Lucian and Aria, her lips trembling, “She started it! She dared to lay her hands on me, and I was only teaching her a lesson!”
“A lesson?!” Lucian scoffed, tucking his hands in his pockets, and glaring down at the Minister, “Minister Lee, it seemed you’ve forgotten how you got your funding for your political career. Do you want to lose everything you have?”
The Minister’s eyes widened in surprise, “No…no…L…Lucian…”
He was breathing hard now and there were furious tears in his eyes. He glared at his daughter and swiftly rose to his feet, slapping her hard.
“You unfilial child!” He screamed at her, as the girl went rigid with shock, “Don’t you know who you’ve offended?! Kneel and apologize to the young Madam at once!”
He dragged her down to her knees beside him before she could even react from the slap.
Jane was trembling, anger and fear pouring forth from her body, “The y…young madam…”
“Apologize at once!” The Minister yelled at her once more, and at once, Jane bowed her head in apology.
“I’m sorry!” She uttered as she bowed low, her head almost touching the ground, “I’m sorry, young madam! I never should have said such about you or your husband! I’m so sorry!”
The Graves family watched them, their gazes cold, their aura intimidating.
Aria held her head high as she watched Jane bow before her.
She caught sight of the Beaumont Family watching her, their mouths open in disbelief while their faces were pale.
Selena herself, looked like she was going to burst open. Her chest rose up and down as she was breathing heavily. She swallowed hard, her throat working but no words seemed to escape her.
She was utterly dumbfounded with what was going on.
A tiny smirk played around Aria’s lips as she nodded satisfactorily, then turned to her husband.
She hooked her arm in his and laid her head on his shoulder in a petulant manner.
“I’m tired of seeing them,” she uttered softly, “I want them out of here!”
Lucian looked at her, then nodded softly, “Who’s there?!” He called sharply, and soon suited guards surrounded them.
Lucian glared at the minister and his daughter, “Get them out of here!”
“Yes sir!” The men chorused as they bowed, then they advanced towards the Minister and Jane who looked frightened out of their wits.
“Lucian! Please forgive us! Please!” The Minister yelled as he was being led out. He desperately tried to get the Chairman and Madam Graves to help him too, “Chairman! Please talk to Lucian! Don’t let this jeopardize our relationship! If I lose that funding, my career is over!”
The Chairman turned his face away, “You should have thought of that before you insulted our daughter in law!”
The Minister’s eyes widened in dismay, “Please…please…” he pleaded as he was finally dragged out of the hall
Jane Lee was quieter, refusing to plead and instead resorted to barking at the guards who held her, “Let go of me! Do you know who I am?!” She yelled, slapping a guard hard.
In return, the guard held her down, almost twisting her arm. She squealed in pain, but not a word escaped her mouth.
As she was taken out of the hall, Aria caught her look of hatred and she raised her chin back at her, letting Jane see her triumphant smile.
“How dare you think you can come to my home and treat me anyhow?” She muttered , flipping her long black hair behind her.
Now that the Minister and his daughter had been taken out, Madam Graves faced her guests once more.
“We are so sorry for the disturbance,”
She uttered with a polite but tight smile, “We can all go back to our celebrating…”
“But what nonsense is this?!” A shrill voice uttered, and everyone turned to look at Selena, who was trembling with fury.
She glared at the Graves family and marched right up to them, before her mother could stop her.
Madam Graves frowned, her brows furrowing in an intimidating manner, “I beg your pardon?” She asked in a scathing tone.
Selena looked at her, her gaze screaming betrayal.
“You said he was paralyzed!” She uttered pointing directly at Lucian, “You said he was in a coma, and that he’d been that way for three years. That’s why I had to give up the engagement! But what’s this? He is perfectly well!”
“You impudent child!” George Beaumont thundered as he dragged Selena back away from the Graves, “How dare you say that to the Chairman and his family?!”
Selena stumbled backwards with a yelp and her mother rushed to steady her.
“But they lied to us , Dad!” She yelled, stamping her foot and looking very much like Jane the spoilt brat, “If not for that lie, I would have been the one to marry Lucian Graves!”
