CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVEN
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVEN
ISABELLA
"You're up early, where are you going to?" Melo asks.
I tried not to wake him up but I forgot how much of a light sleeper he is.
"The restaurant."
"What do you mean the restaurant? You started work at the restaurant?"
I knew this would be a problem. Before he left, we agreed that I wouldn't resume work at the restaurant untill Carina was at least 6 months old.
"Yeah, I had to. I was going crazy being at home doing nothing but waiting."
"But you weren't doing nothing. You had Carina." He says, sitting up on the bed.
His voice has taken that tone again. The one he had before we fell in love. Now it's reserved for when I'm pissing him off.
"Yes. I had Carina but there were times where she would sleep for hours and I would be alone with my thoughts."
He nods in understanding and I relax. It's not a big of a fight as I thought it would be.
"Well, I'm back now. You don't have to go anymore. Come back to bed."
I celebrated too soon. I stay silent for seconds, wondering the best way to go about this. I don't want to get into a fight with him just a day after he came back.
"I can't come back to bed, Melo. I have work to do in the restaurant."
His jaw clenches and he releases slow, controlled breaths. He's also being careful, trying not to make this a fight.
"You didn't go yesterday." He says.
"Yesterday, you came back. Nothing could have dragged me to the restaurant."
"I'm still back. I've not gone anywhere."
I slowly walk back to the bed and sit close to him.
"Melo, I can't stay at home all day."
"Why can't you? It's for our child. She's just three months old "
"And she has been fine. I'm not neglecting my daughter. I'm with her when she's awake. The only time I go into the kitchen is when she's sleeping."
"So you leave her alone in your office? Does that sound safe to you?"
I stand up from the bed, needing to move far away from him. He's saying things that are royally pissing me off and if I spend one more second near him, I might lose it.
"She's not alone. Her baby monitor is there and Rocco stays with her too."
"So that's it? Rocco now takes care of our daughter? What does he know about babies?" He says getting off the bed.
"He knew enough yesterday when you let him have her for two hours while we were having sex."
He wants to say something but clamps his jaw shut. He takes a deep breath before he finally speaks.
"I'm not comfortable with you leaving my daughter in your office all day."
"We could employ a nanny so I don't have to take her to the restaurant."
"Don't even fucking play like that, Bella."
I sigh and walk up to him. I kiss his chest and hug him.
"Baby, it's fine. Carina is safe. I would never let anything happen to her. You know that."
"I do, I'm sorry. It's just, we had a plan. We won't take her out until she's at least 6 months. We talked about it and you agreed."
"But plans change right?"
He sighs and folds his arms around me.
"I'm having a hard time accepting this, Bella. I'm trying to but it's not working."
"Babe, I promise you our daughter is safe. She's happy and she's well protected. You have nothing to worry about. You can come around today if you get the chance. So you'll see for yourself."
"I just might."
He kisses my forehead and I know that the situation is settled. At least untill he visits and finds a reason why this is a bad idea.
"You really turned Rocco to a baby sitter, Huh?"
"He loves it. He's winning points as the favourite uncle. Besides, you don't want a nanny in her life so I'm making do with what I have." I say, laughing.
He ignores the comment about a nanny and continues patting my hair.
"CeCe is coming this morning to properly apologise."
"Well, it's a good thing I'm leaving early, then. I don't want to see her."
He laughs. "Okay, then. She'll keep coming untill she catches you at home."
I shake my head and pull away from him. "I'm going to get ready." I say, turning.
He spanks me and I yelp in surprise. "Come back, I wanna tell you something else." He says, smirking.
Sarah's call comes in the second I open my office door and I answer immediately.
"Great, you're alive. I've been calling since yesterday morning."
"I'm sorry. I put my phone on DND and didn't look at it until this morning."
"So it's true that Melo is back."
I smile to myself. "Yeah, he is. I'm sorry I didn't call you the second I got a chance."
"It's fine, I understand. I wouldn't want to talk to the world too if my husband came back after three months of being away."
"Thank you. So when am I seeing you next?"
"Soon. I want to see my family in new York, but when I come back, I'm all yours."
"Great. I can't wait, we have a lot to discuss."
"We do. I heard your husband paid a visit to CeCe's house and shot her father."
"What? He didn't tell me that part. He came home and said she wouldn't bother me anymore."
"Don't worry, he'll still have full use of his legs. He just made it known that he doesn't give a shit how important he is to the business, no one messes with you."
"CeCe was supposed to come apologise this morning but I told him I didn't want to see her."
"Why not? You should want to see her on her knees begging for forgiveness."
"I'd have to look at her face though, and I don't want that. He did say she'll come back everyday until she catches me at home."
"Good. Delay it until I return, I want to see her face."
We laugh and talk for a while before the call ends.
There's a knock on my door before it is pushed open. Evan pokes his head in with a big smile.
"Good morning boss."
"Good morning, Evan. How are you?"
"I'm good. How's the little hater?" He asks.
He's referring to Carina. She's shy and doesn't like strangers picking her up but she seems to have extra hate for Evan. He has changed his perfume twice and she still didn't let him hold her.
"Hopefully, no longer hating."
He enters the office and tries to carry my baby, who is living in her own world, babbling to herself. Carina is quiet as he picks her up but once he puts her close to his chest, she starts screaming bloody murder. Evan hands her back with a sad smile.
"I guess I'll try again next week." He says, laughing.
I smile back at him and look at my baby. She's forever going to be on her father's side.
