Chapter 13 Chapter Thirteen

Chapter 13 Chapter Thirteen

Kamari's POV.

I had no idea why he left abruptly but I decided not to think much of it.

He probably had business or something.

Or he had gone to investigate the bathroom incident.

Speaking of that, this was the second time that Luciano came to my rescue and I was starting to feel obligated. If he didn't come in at that time, I had no idea what would have happened to me.

Now it felt like I owed him because of this.

And I didn't know whether to feel good or happy about that. However, saving me twice didn't mean that he'd suddenly morphed into a good person in my mind.

He was still the same brutal Don to me, the only difference now was that I knew he was capable of doing good things.

But I doubted that nothing he did would ever make me see him in a different light.

He'd always remain my captor.

I'd already spent only thirty minutes in bed and I was starting to get tired of it. I didn't feel weak anymore and I wanted to stop bedrotting. So I got up, heading for the wardrobe to get dressed.

I spent the next few minutes wearing a simple black dress and I styled my hair in a high ponytail. By the time I was done with everything, I looked nothing like what happened to me a few minutes ago.

I walked towards the door but then the door swung open with Lady Maris bursting in, her eyes widening and looking moist.

She clasped her hand together in front of me, “Please Madam, please save my daughter!”

My brows furrowed, my pulse quickening, “what are you talking about?”

“Please–my daughter–punishment, please save her,” Lady Maris implored further, her cheast heaving.

This was the first time I was seeing her fidgeting like this, she looked like her heart was about to be ripped from her body.

“Please, show me where she is,” I demanded and Lady Maris turned on her heels immediately, briskly walking to where Celine was held.

When we arrived at the sitting room, the scene I met had my jaws dropping. Two guards held onto Celine’s arms, while she sobbed profusely as Luciano pointed a gun in front of her face.

My breath caught in my throat as I clocked the scene.

If Luciano was holding down Celine in this manner, that meant that she was the one who locked me in the bathroom.

This was why Luciano didn't tell me.

His little mistress was acting on jealousy and being a cold, heartless man, Luciano wasn't going to spare her.

But Christ, isn't death too cruel of a punishment for that kind of mistake?

My eyes alternated between Luciano's hand holding the gun and Celine who was still crying a lot.

“Please Madam, please do something,” Lady Maris begged, her voice cracking like she was about to shed tears.

Without thinking, I quickly intercepted them before Luciano pulled the trigger at Celine.

Luciano glared daggers at me, his face white with rage, “I was just about to put an end to this nusiance. Get out of the way.”

But I didn’t move.

“Not every action must be solved with a bullet. You don't have to kill her when we can actually settle things amicably,” I suggested, my insides growing weak with anxiety.

Lady Maris nodded softly but Luciano wasn't having it.

“Do you realize you could have died in there? Did you forget that your life was in danger? You'd spent hours in the cold because of Celine and you're still defending her? Kamari, move aside.”

“Don't get the wrong idea. I'm actually pissed about it, I don't think what she did was right. I just don't support the idea of killing her because of something this small. Please, just–just put the gun down,” I pleaded, hoping that this time he'd actually listen to me.

Just then Lady Maris joined in, her trembling body standing beside me, “Boss please. Celine has done the worst thing ever and I'm really sorry about it.”

Lady Maris turned to me, “Madam, please forgive Celine for her offense. I promise she'd never do it again.”

Luciano's gaze darted between me and Lady Maris and though rage was still written all over his face, he slowly let the gun down.

“You two may have suceeded with saving Celine's life today, but you won’t be able to save her from my wrath.” He said, his jaws clenching.

I swallowed hard, exchanging glances with Lady Maris, “wha–what are you going to do with her?”

“I'm going to punish her so she never thinks to hurt you ever again. For the next week, Celine will be sent to the safe room with nothing but leftovers for her to feed on.”

Luciano's words made my heart skip a beat, though I hadn't been in the safe room before, I knew it had to be a creepy place because Celine's crying increased behind me.

“No no no, please not the safe room. I'd die before the week is over,” Celine mumbled, crying even harder.

My lips curled downwards, sympathy twisting my chest, “Please, that's too much for her. Keeping one isolated can be very bad for their mental health, and leftovers for a week doesn't sound so healthy so–”

“You pleaded for her the first time, Kamari. Do not test my patience by pleading again,” He cut me off with a warning but I still thought to say something.

It could have even been a mistake from Celine, and yet she was being punished.

“I know but please try and understand me. It could have been a mistake, or maybe not. But regardless of her actions, I think you should just–” My words ended in a loud gasp as Luciano held the gun to my forehead. Was he really thinking of killing me right now?

“Actually, I think I should just finish what Celine started. Since your lips don't know when to shut the fuck up,” He growled.
