Chapter 11 Chapter Eleven
Kamari's POV.
The last thing I remembered was groaning really hard before passing out. And when my eyes opened again, I found myself being examined by a female doctor.
The cramps had increased and the pills weren't working. I'd remember crying so hard because I couldn't move, I had to be careful with breathing or I'd feel the pain even more.
So it surprised me to be in bed, being examined by this lady and feeling no pain at all. I wondered who called for the doctor.
“Does it still hurt?” She asked and I stared blankly at her, almost like I was in a daze.
She snapped her finger in my face, her expression neither rude nor soft.
“Answer my question.”
“Ye–yes, I don't feel any pain,” I finally answered, pressing my lips into a thin line.
She spent the next few minutes scribbling something in a note before tearing it out and handing it to me.
And that was the last I saw of her as she briskly walked out. Just as she left, Lady Maris walked in, her expression tinged with relief.
“You're awake, how are you feeling?” She asked, sitting in the sofa chair beside my bed.
A small smile spread across my dry lips, “I'm fine.”
But I still wondered who helped me get a doctor. Perhaps it was her.
She nodded curtly, her lips parting again, “The don called the doctor last night after you passed out. He'd been in here since yesternight, he left a few hours ago.”
So I wasn't seeing things when I spotted a figure at the door before losing consciousness.
That was quite thoughtful of him. I should probably thank him again, at least so I don't feel like I owe him my life because he helped me.
“Here, let me give you your medication while I go get the other ones the doctor prescribed,” Lady Maris stated, rising from the couch towards me.
She helped me sit myself up, placing a pillow behind my back. I took the glass of water from her, swallowing the pills after filling my mouth with water.
I laid back in bed, watching Lady Maris leave while my eyelids suddenly grew heavy. I didn't know if it was because I was already tired or the medication was making me sleepy but I closed my eyes, embracing slumber.
When my eyes opened again, the first thing my eyes landed on was the tall figure at the door.
He was staring with so much intensity that I didn't need to be told to know he had been standing there for a while.
For a minute, he looked like he'd even been worried but I discarded the idea. I doubt he cared that much about me.
“You,” I muttered, my voice coming out as cracked and soft.
“Glad to see you're awake. I've finally got the right punishment for you since you–”
“Thank you for calling the doctor just in time. I appreciate it,” I cut him off, feeling lighter after appreciating the gesture.
Luciano's gaze flickered with surprise, his brows lifting as he stared at me. He squared his shoulders, his lips pressing into a thin line like he was determined to not respond to me.
He fixed his hands in his pants, his gaze now turning icy and then he turned around, exiting the room.
I'd hoped he'd at least tell me the punishment but he didn't and now, I was curious. Sweat smeared my armpits, making me feel the urge to have a bath.
The pain was almost gone, which meant I could move so I slowly helped myself up, moving towards the bathroom.
I loosened the straps of my gown, letting the cloth drop down from my body, creating a pile. I stepped out of it, shedding out of my underwears as I headed for the bathroom.
The cold drops of water from the shower cooled my heating body and I combed my fingers through my wey hair, enjoying the feel of the water.
I began applying soap on my body, inhaling the floral fragrance of the bar as I rubbed it over my skin. My breath hitched the picture of Luciano came to mind. I didn't know why his face wouldn't leave my mind.
Why was a gorgeous man this wicked?
Why couldn't he have been a good person?
I shook my head as if to clear my thoughts, as the cold water dropped on my body in sheets.
And suddenly, I heard the bathroom door click shut.
My brows furrowed as I finished my bath speedily, heading for the door immediately.
I pulled hard on it but there was no response.
My heart started racing.
What the fuck?
My wet fingers curled around the door knob again but it still wouldn't budge. I pressed a hand over my lips, who the hell locked me in?
I tried pulling on the door a few more times, assuring myself that this was probably a mistake. But the door still didn't open and at this point, panic surged through me.
My heart started pounding heavily in my chest, my eyes watering from utter panic. I looked around me, there was no possible way of getting out of here except through the door.
And even if there was, I couldn't possibly crawl out naked. It was at this point that I regretted not taking a towel or bathrobe with me.
My eyes darted from the small window to the door, and I curled my hands into fists, banging one the bathroom door.
“Is anybody out there?” I asked no in particular as I hit the door a few more times.
“BANG BANG BANG”
“Whoever is out there, please open the door!” I yelled at the top of my voice but there was still no response.
My body trembled, the refreshing feeling from the water now disappearing into heat as I banged the door.
“Someone please answer the door! I'm locked in here!” I cried out but I was still getting no answers.
