Chapter 17

"The only thing I'm holding on to is our marriage. We're married so I have the right to what you don't want and what you want," I firmly answered him.

He gasped at what I said and his face was obviously shocked. He stormed out of the room and I just shook my head.

I took a deep breath to calm myself down. I really don't know where that man's bad conscience is coming from. How did he inherit it if his parents are so kind?

I just focused my attention on other things. I focused more attention on taking care of Baby Yumi.

"Baby, forgive daddy if he's always angry, huh?" I said gently.

"Let him be kind too. I guess he's always stressed at work," I added with a smile.

I tried to smile in front of my child even though deep inside I was hurt. I was hurt by what was happening between me and Ransom. I was hurt by what he was showing me.

"If it wasn't really because of you. I wouldn't put up with that man!" I said to myself while facing our daughter, Yumi.

After a while, someone knocked on my bedroom door.

"That's tomorrow," I said.

The door to my room slowly opened. Beth came up to me with food on a food tray.

She came in smiling and approached me. I smiled at him and accepted the food he was holding.

"Thank you so much, Beth. I wish you wouldn't have bothered," I said with a smile.

"That's not possible, Ma'am. You can't go hungry," she answered.

I really appreciate her concern for me. She does her job really well and I am very grateful for her service.

"Thank you again, Beth. You are really good," I smiled thanking her.

"You’re welcome,Ma'am”she said smiling.

I only responded with a smile.

She volunteered to take care of the baby so I could eat.

While eating, I was still waiting for Ransom to return. I couldn't help but think about the misunderstanding between the two of us.

"You must be thinking deeply, Ma'am. Is there a problem?" Beth asked me.

I know she has been noticing my stupidity while thinking.

"Nothing, Beth. I'm just wondering if I can be a good mother to Baby Yumi," I lied.

"Why not?" she asked with a smile.

"Just now I saw how lucky Yumi is to have you as her mother. You take care of her so much," she added.

"Really?" I smiled at what she said.

"Of course," she answered with a smile.

"Are you still not okay with Sir Ransom, Ma'am?" she asked curiously.

"We don't have a problem, Beth. What are you talking about?" I lied.

I don't know why this girl is curious. All I know is that I can't tell her the truth. I'd rather just keep quiet. I don't want Beth to think badly of Ransom.

"Why do you always ask me that thing, Beth?" I asked.

"Do you know that you are also interfering in our relationship?" I asked seriously.

She was obviously embarrassed by what I said. But she still dared to explain.

“Oh! I don't intend to interfere in your relationship, Ma'am. I'm sorry if that's what you think, but I just realized that you really have a problem. I'm sorry," she apologized.

I just sighed at what she said. I felt guilty because of what I said and calmly begged her to leave me alone.

"Can you leave me first?" I asked gently.

"Okay, Ma'am," I answered.

But when she couldn't altogether leave the room and  I called her.

"Beth," I called her.

"Whatever you saw, don't tell Ransom's parents. Whatever our problem is, it's normal for a couple so please understand" I told her.

"Alright, Ma'am. You can count," she replied with a smile and went out the door.

I sighed and looked at my daughter Yumi. She was sleeping soundly and I just smiled when I saw the beauty of her eyelashes.

"You really inherited it from your stuck-up Father," I said with a smile.

I couldn't help but glance at our wedding picture frame that was placed on the wall. It was huge, set in a golden frame. Its size was 11x14 and it was obvious that it would be loved because the fabric and not faded paper.

"If you look at him, he's really good at pretending," I just shook my head and smiled.

"I hope you will accept me as your wife. I know you are too rich for me  but we have a child. We need to be a whole family." I said while looking at the picture frame.

"If only you knew that I love you, Ransom. If only you knew," I added.

I was surprised when someone suddenly spoke near the door. I didn't realize that he had entered because I was stunned for a moment.

"Sign it!" he ordered as he dropped an envelope on the table.

"What is that?" I asked curiously.

"Don't ask. I said sign it now!" he answered firmly.

"Calm down, Ransom. Why are you always angry?!" I asked annoyed.

"How can I calm down if almost all my transactions with the company require your signature?!" he asked with a frown.

"Of course, I'm your wife," I answered.

I heard his sigh and the anger on his face was obvious as he looked at me.

"I really hate dad for doing this to me!" he shouted.

"You shouldn't be angry with your father. It's our fault," I insisted.

"It's your fault!" he countered.

"Wait, the child won't develop if you don't do anything, Ransom. We are your responsibility because Yumi is your daughter," I insisted.

"You're the woman so you should be the one to be careful.Of course! I'm a man and I can have sex with any woman whenever I want!" he said to me angrily.

I was really hurt by what he said and my heart was broken. I could hardly breathe at that time.

“You are really exaggerating!" I said to him crying.

"Don't make any kind of drama. Sign it or your mother will find out

the truth," he threatened me.

Are you scaring me?" I asked bravely.

I was surprised when he suddenly brought his face closer to me.He looked at me with a serious face and I was so hurt by what he said that I couldn't control my anger. Even I was surprised by what I had done.
