Chapter 14
Hello?" I uttered.
I received a call from the Hospital to inform me that Ransom had an accident and suffered an arm injury and is still unconscious.
I was very depressed by what I found out and my chest was pounding too hard. My hands were shaking as I held the phone to my ear.I couldn't speak immediately and they were surprised to see me dumb.
"Bess, are you okay?"Cheska asked worriedly but I didn't answer him.
"Who called,Mila?" mom asked me.
It took a few seconds for me to calm down and speak. They were obviously surprised by what I said.
"Called from the hospital, mom. They said Ransom had an accident and got injured. He hasn't woken up yet," I answered.
I was weak while telling them that. I want to go to my husband but I can't leave our son and leave myself alone.
"What?!" mother asked in surprise.
"Do his parents know this?"she asked.
"Looks like not yet, mom. I was the one who called the doctor so I should let them know," I answered.
I can't explain the mixture of nervousness and worry I feel.
I immediately called his parents about what happened and there was a trace of surprise and confusion in their voices.
"Calm down,Camilla. I'm sure Ransom will be okay too. Calm down!" my mom preached to me.
"What if not? What if the injury he suffered is serious?" he asked.
"Don't think like that, Camilla. Think about your baby and yourself first," said mom.
After our conversation with his parents, they immediately hung up on me. I can't wait for their call. I can't help but worry about my billionaire husband.
"Bess, calm down. Why are you so worried about that man? He is your husband but you don't love him, right?" Cheska asked firmly.
"Cheska!"I uttered emphatically and took a deep breath.
"I'm his wife, Bess. He's the father of my child so I should be worried," I answered seriously.
"Material Wife," he said teasingly.
"You're just being silly!" I replied annoyed.
"Seriously, Bess. I think you're in love with that man so much,"she insisted.
I was surprised by what he said and suddenly my heart beat faster when I heard it.
"Cheska your mouth!" I refused.
"Oh sorry,"Cheska replied.
"Yes Ofcourse!"I lied.
I saw my mother stumble while looking at me. She sat on the edge of my bed and looked at me seriously. She simply smiled while holding my hand.
"Is there anything I should know?" he asked seriously.
"Nothing, mom," I lied.
"It's normal to love your husband because that's where everything really comes from. You fell in love, that's why Yumi was born. But I hope you calm down first,Camilla," she said calmly.
"I'm fine, mom," I insisted.
"I'm your mother, I know you,"she said to me with a smile.
They both looked at each other and smiled at each other.
I just shook my head and held my breath at what they told me. I guess I can't admit to myself that Ransom does have a place in my heart. I'm not even sure but I only know one thing and that is I'm very worried to him. I'm also annoyed with my best friend, Cheska, because mom and I almost broke up because of her chatter. Honestly, I don't want mom to know that I was forced into everything. I don't want Ransom and I to break up and her to be angry with me too.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door and the nurse came in. She greeted us with a smile and happily informed us that later I could hold my baby again.
"We will bring your baby here later, ma'am" the nurse said with a smile.
“Really? Does that mean my baby is okay, Nurse?" I asked with a smile.
"Yes, Ma'am. You have nothing to worry about. Just wait for the medications that doctor Willis will give you," the Nurse replied with a smile.
I was very happy because my baby was finally okay. The burden I felt was relieved but I still couldn't get rid of my worry about Ransom.
"Thanks God!" Mother said happily.
"Look, Tita. The concern for her husband is still evident on her face," teased Cheska.
"Cheska!" I said annoyed.
"He should be worried about his wife, Cheska. But think about the baby and yourself first. His parents won't abandon him," he responded calmly.
He only responded with a smile and shook his head. After a while, my baby arrived, carried by the Nurse.
My son is really beautiful. I can't describe the joy I feel when I see him. I can't get rid of the smile on my lips and somehow the pain I feel is relieved.
"My grandson is very beautiful. He really inherited from you because you had the same face when you were young," said mother smiling at me.
"But he took his daddy's nose," I replied.
Cheska smiled at me as if teasing.
Mother agreed with what I said and we smiled at each other.
A few seconds later, my phone suddenly rang and I saw my mother in law calling. I immediately answered it.
Hello, mom," I said.
"Are you sure the hospital called you?" he asked.
"Yes, the nurse called me. Why?" I asked.
"They say there is no confined Patient under his name so I am asking you now if you are sure someone called you from hospital St. Paul," he replied seriously.
"They really called me, mom" I insisted.
"Okay, I'll call you back later," he said calmly before hanging up.
I just sighed and looked at my mother. I thought about what Ransom's mother said.
I can't help but doubt that it might all be a lie.
"Why do you look like that?" asked mother.
"What did your good mother in law say?" he asked.
I know that their blood is really hot for each other. But this is not my problem now, but my husband's lying to me. Isn't it enough for him that I gave him a beautiful child?
"They said Ransom wasn't there at the hospital. But the hospital actually called me," I said confused.
"Couldn't your husband just be lying?" asked his mother.
"Maybe not, mother. Why would he dream of an accident for no reason?" I asked.
My mother thought about what I said and recommended that I call my husband's number. But I hesitated because I knew she would be angry.
"Call me so you can find out where your husband really is. Is he lying or telling the truth," said his mother.
I felt scared that it was true that he was just lying to me. I looked at my cellphone for a moment and looked at Ransom's number. I counted to three in my mind and thought carefully about whether I should call him or not.
Cheska was obviously waiting for what I would do. I saw her eyes shake at me.
I knew he didn't agree with what I was going to call. But I was still stubborn and dialed Ransom's number.
I was just looking at mother at that time while waiting for Ransom to answer. But he didn't even answer it.
"He's not answering, mother," I said.
"Call again," mother ordered.
"Don't force it if you don't want to," said Cheska.
Suddenly my phone rang and I saw her mother calling again. I immediately answered the call from her mother.
"Hello, mom" I said.
But I was surprised when I heard his father's voice. His voice was obviously very angry while speaking.
"Ransom is just lying. He didn't really have an accident. But don't understand that thing anymore and put your son first. I'll take care of him," his father said as if he was about to be attacked at any moment. in the heart to speak.
When I hung up, I just shrugged my shoulders. I don't expect him to be loyal to me but I hope he didn't lie. It's okay with me if he doesn't want to visit me but he made me a fool. He made me believe in what I thought was true.
"What did you say?" asked mother curiously.
I had to keep it a secret from him first, so I was forced to lie. I didn't want to complicate everything because I know my mother. I texted Ransom's parents to beg them not to let the lie that Ransom made get to her. I'm sure she will curse me my billionaire husband by chance.
But I know that Cheska knows that I'm hiding something. I think my best friend knows me better than my own mother.
This is not the first time I have lied to my mother. To be honest, I feel bad but I have to do it for the good of both of us.
A few moments later, Cheska said goodbye and left. I was waiting for my mother to speak again because she was still looking at me seriously.
Mom, why can you look at me like that?" I asked.
"Look at your granddaughter, Yumi. She knows how to smile, mom," I said with a smile.
Mother immediately came and looked at baby yumi. I saw a smile on her lips. Fortunately, I found a diversion in her attention.
"I never thought I would have such a beautiful grandson. I thought I would die without a grandson," he said with a smile.
I smiled at what he said and I could see how happy he was as he carried his only grandchild.
But I still can't get over Ransom's lie. I wonder why he did that? Why does he have to lie to me?
A few moments later, I took baby Yumi from her mother. His mother begged him to take a nap for a while because he suddenly felt worse. I was worried but he insisted that he was just tired.
As the days passed, we got out of the hospital. Even once, Ransom didn't show up. I didn't know where he was and even when I called him, he didn't want to answer my calls.
I don't know what else I can reason with my mother. But I have to cover Ransom for his sin against me.
When we arrived at the mansion, I was greeted by the servants. They helped me up the stairs and carried the things up the stairs to my room with Ransom.
"Thank you, Beth," I smiled.
"There's nothing, ma'am," Beth replied with a smile.
"You can always be counted on, Beth. Where's Lydia?" I asked.
I didn't see Lydia so I immediately looked for her. I found out that her husband died so she went back to their province. I felt sad and felt sorry for what happened to her family.
"I feel sorry for him because he loves his wife so much. The sudden loss of her husband is very painful for her," Beth said sadly.
It was as if my heart was crushed by what I heard from him. Suddenly I thought of Ransom and I couldn't help but call him.
I dialed his number but I was surprised by what I heard on the other line.
