Train her
Train her
I didn’t dream the moment I walked into the room to sleep. I didn’t even drift, just collapsed into unconsciousness, desperate to forget, but my mind stayed cruelly blank. No dreams. No escape.
When I woke, it was with a pounding head, an aching emptiness in my stomach, and a fire raging between my legs.
I groaned, curling into myself, clutching the sheets that smelled nothing like safety. I tossed, I turned, sweat beading on my skin as memories from last night came crashing down the way the ruthless Alpha had ordered my body to be chained, touched, marked with dominance.
I was too weak to stop it. Too broken to even reject what was happening.
Wake up.
I forced myself to sit up and staggered to the window. I pulled the curtains aside, hoping for a distraction, and the breathtaking view struck me silent. The sky glowed with the deep blush of dusk warm reds and oranges melting behind the distant mountains. It was still and silent, and for a moment, I imagined it could calm me.
But it didn’t.
The fire was still there. Burning.
Even standing didn’t help. My thighs trembled with need, and I hated myself for it.
"What is wrong with me?" I muttered, trying to smother the growing heat that pulsed low in my stomach, that throbbed mercilessly between my legs. My hands trembled, and my body ached with something primal.
Then it hit me.
The craving. The ache. The restlessness. The need for touch, for heat, for a release so deep it would leave me shaking and satisfied.
It was heat.
Not just any heat my first true heat. The real one. The one my body had saved for the day it realized its mate was near.
I had felt this before in milder forms surges of need, fleeting desire but this was different. This was raw. Unforgiving. Unrelenting. And it made sense now.
My wolf had recognized our mate.
Even if I hadn’t wanted to. Even if I had fought it with every breath.
She didn’t care. She had waited for him. The moment she caught his scent, even just the essence of it, her instincts had flared awake and this heat had come crashing in, fast and ruthless.
Usually, heats didn’t strike so suddenly. Usually, you had time. But not when your wolf sensed your mate. Not when the bond stirred just beneath your skin, demanding, begging to be completed.
I gritted my teeth as my canines began to lengthen. I hated this.
As an omega, I’d always feared the day this would happen. I’d stayed away from intimacy knowing that one slip, one touch, could trigger this madness. And yet, here I was. Just one night under his roof. One graze of his skin, one inhale of his scent, and my wolf had surrendered completely.
I could only remember the last time I'd had anything close to this years ago, with Joseph. A sweet, clueless omega boy who thought he could love me through my “cycles” without ever touching me.
It worked until it didn’t.
Until the heat grew worse, and I grew desperate.
Until he called me a sex-crazed demon and walked away like I was poison.
After that, I locked this part of myself away. Hid it. Controlled it. My only secret relief tucked beneath my mattress in my mother’s house a toy gifted by a brave omega friend who knew what I was going through.
But now... now I had nothing but this fire. And I was heading to the main pack house soon. To be surrounded by males. To be surrounded by him.
The thought made my stomach twist. What if someone sensed it? What if I lost control? What if I—?
No.
I tore myself away from the window and ducked under the covers again just as I heard the door handle click.
My body stilled. Eyes shut. Breath held.
"She's still sleeping," said an unfamiliar voice.
Then came his voice. The Beta. Cold and sharp.
"She should be awake by now."
I flinched when a finger touched the side of my neck, checking for a pulse, but unknowingly sending a wave of tingles across my overly sensitive skin.
"She's still alive," the other voice confirmed probably the doctor. "Maybe the medicine was strong."
"She has to wake up right now."
"Wake up."
My eyes snapped open at the command, and immediately I met his unfeeling stare. His gaze drilled into mine. Mine trembled with the fear I couldn’t mask.
"You’ve healed. No one’s going to bring you food in bed. Go and pick it yourself," he snapped.
I said nothing. I couldn’t.
The doctor gave me a pitiful glance before they left, but pity was no cure for heat.
Once alone, I finally dragged myself out of bed and into the bathroom. Everything was new. Clothes. Shoes. All laid out for me, like some twisted welcome gift.
After cleaning up, I made my way to the kitchen, needing coffee more than air. But as soon as I stepped inside, they looked at me.
Chloe. Rose. The omegas I used to work beside before I was dragged away.
Chloe handled the dishes. I moved to pour coffee, but the tension in the air was thick enough to choke on.
"Do you want me to help you?" I offered, trying to hold on to some shred of normalcy.
Chloe stopped. She looked up, and her voice was sharp like glass.
"No, Amby. Everything’s good over here. Why don’t you sit with the Alpha and wait while we serve you?"
"You don’t have to be rude—"
"I’m tired," she cut me off. "We work our asses off while you escape everything by sleeping with someone. So yes. I get to be rude."
I froze. The cup in my hand trembled.
"You don’t know anything," I whispered, my voice shaking.
She glared.
"You’re right. I don’t. But don’t forget you’re still an omega. And you belong right here. With us."
The words stung worse than anything.
Because I didn’t belong anymore.
They didn’t know I was his mate.
They didn’t know my wolf had betrayed me the moment she caught his scent.
The silent stares pushed me out of the room. I didn’t argue. I didn’t defend myself. I just walked away.
Back in the hallway, I heard my name.
"Oh, Amby, right?"
I turned, spotting a girl I recognized immediately Amara. One of the high-ranking wolves. Not an omega. Not like me.
She was radiant red hair kissed by firelight, flawless skin, athletic curves. Everything about her screamed privilege. But her voice was warm.
"I’m right next door," she said, smiling. "It’s beautiful here, isn’t it?"
I forced a nod. "It is," I mumbled.
"I’ll come over later, and we can head to training together, right?"
"Okay," I replied, faking a smile. The moment she turned, I shut my door firmly.
The smile vanished.
Because she didn’t know either.
