Chapter 43 - Little Mate?
Chapter 43 - Little Mate?
Axel
Axel made his way over to the bar where he saw Sigmund lazily lounging on one of the bar stools nursing a glass of something crimson red. He had pretty good idea of what the contents of the glass held.
As he walked over Axel noticed the staff strongly encouraging the patrons to drink up and leave as soon as possible; just as Pixie had said.
As Axel approached Sigmund, the vampire looked up and smiled at him.
"Would you like a drink?" He asked, raising his own up in the air for Axel to better see.
Axel wrinkled his nose at the contents and politely declined.
He nervously glanced behind him, afraid he would miss his opportunity to see his mate and she would once again slip through his fingers.
"Don't worry; I'm sure they won't be out for a while." Sigmund chuckled at him.
Axel looked back at the smirking Vampire and was starting to get quite annoyed.
"Why have you called me over?" Axel demanded.
The smile on Sigmund’s lips twitched as he lowered his glass back to the bar and sighed.
“I wished to talk to you, not as Vampire and Werewolf but as men.” He started, causing Axel to raise an annoyed eyebrow in confusion.
Sigmund looked him directly in the eye, which in the Werewolf community would have been taken as a challenge to the Alpha but before he overreacted, Axel considered his words and decided it was not meant as a challenge or slight. Sigmund had stated that he was talking to him as a man, not a powerful Alpha.
“I have known Raine for quite a few years now and I have known Joe for even longer.” Sigmund continued and his smile seemed more genuine. “I have watched them grow and flourish, they are my family.” He took a sip from his glass, placing it back down. “I do not wish to see them hurt any further than they already have been; I want them to be happy.”
Axel took a moment to consider his words.
“Sir, I promise you that my Delta and I’s intentions are pure.” He addressed Sigmund with the respect he deserved, as a man. He had taken care of two very important people to both Axel and Ray and from what Axel could tell from their interactions so far, he did it because he loved them as family and not for any nefarious reasons. “We want to make up for everything and if it takes forever then I will keep trying forever! I want her in my life!” Axel declared, unwavering.
There was a moment of silence between them before Sigmund spoke again, but he was smiling still.
“I believe you.” He told Axel. “And I want to help you, as I believe that you and your Delta are true to your words. The way you watch them on stage, your eyes never falter and they sparkle as though every move they make takes your breathes away.”
“That’s because they do.” Axel chuckled.
‘Damn right it does!' Leon helpfully added.
“In the spirit of helping you both reunite, I will do everything in my power to create moments for you to meet one another.” Sigmund added cheerfully, his eyes sliding past Axel’s grateful expression to look at something over his shoulder. His smile suddenly becoming more mischievous. “I will start right now, I wish you both luck!” He bid the Alpha goodbye before sliding from his seat and gliding away, leaving the rest of his drink untouched.
At first Axel was confused, but then her scent hit him. The mouth-watering combination of winter berries and blossoms that had him wildly search for the source. He found her immediately; she was standing near the stage door gazing over towards the seats the wolves had previously occupied. A quick glance and Axel saw she was staring after Ray and her singing partner Lunarr, who had already started their long overdue reunion.
He couldn’t help but admire her as he watched her anxiously looking at her friend. She was so loyal and caring, more amazing Luna qualities.
Axel was so mesmerised by her that he almost didn’t notice has she turned to towards the stage door to leave.
'She’s leaving! Stop her! Stop her!' Leon practically screamed in his head.
“Raine!” Axel called out to her without thinking; terrified he’d miss another chance with her and let her vanish.
She heard him and he cautiously watched as she turned to look at him. For a second she stared at him with her dazzling blue eyes looking confused and then recognition clouded them and they widened in pure panic.
She recognised him. She stood frozen staring him down and looking absolutely terrified; which was breaking his heart. She shouldn’t fear him, she should feel just as much love as he did for her; but he knew this reaction was his own fault. He was the reason she feared him, but he was going to change that very, very soon.
“Alpha…” He heard her utter almost inaudibly under her breath.
He couldn’t stop the deep, unsatisfied growl which rumbled from his chest. He didn’t want her calling him Alpha; he was no Alpha to her. They were equals! No! They weren’t equals, she far outranked him, she was his sunshine, is whole reason for existing. She shouldn’t refer to him as Alpha!
Unfortunately the growl that slipped from him seemed to pull her from her frozen fear and back to her senses, her eyes manically scanned the entire room looking for someone else but Axel somehow knew that the Vampire had taken care of that already. She looked to her friend who was still sitting with Ray but he was far too absorbed with his Mate to realise what was going on anywhere else.
Raine stumbled backwards, putting more distance between them.
This time the growl that emerged from Axel was Leon’s doing. He didn’t want more distance; in fact he wanted to close the distance between them right now! And Axel agreed, taking purposeful long strides towards her as she backed away from him.
Her back hit the wall and he could almost read what she was thinking and about to do. He was quick, he used his wolf speed as she turned about to make a mad dash towards the door and trapped her between his arms before she could escape him again.
His sly princess glanced over to his other arm, checking to see if she could escape. Her heart rate increased and her breathing became rapid as she finally realised that she could no longer escape him.
He noticed tears forming in her eyes as she tilted her head down to avoid his gaze. Leon howled sadly inside him, they didn’t want her to ever cry! He wanted to bring her joy and happiness! He wanted her to smile and laugh, not cry!
Another growl rumbled through him as he saw her tears slide down her cheeks. She began to tremble and it was making both his and Leon’s heart break. He couldn’t stand the sight of her crying, he had to make it stop. He moved his body closer and reached a hand up, cupping her face and used the pad of his thumb to wipe away her tears. She kept her beautiful eyes tightly shut the entire time, probably scared he would do something bad if she were to look him in the eye again.
He thought this would help her, show her that he meant her no harm. But a terrified whimper escaped her lips and tore through his heart. He growled again, but this one was the growl of a heart broken wolf who couldn’t take his Mate’s pain anymore.
It was time to calm her down the Werewolf way.
He pushed his body closer to her so that they were pressed against each other. He felt the sparks dance along his skin the moment their bodies touched, her scent surrounded them and made him feel intoxicated. He tilted her head with the hand that still rested on her cheek and moved his face to crook of her neck. He inhaled deeply, taking in as much of her mouth-watering scent as he could in a single breath. It wasn’t enough!
No longer driven by anything but love and instinct he got impossibly closer to her, gently kissing her neck right where his mark would go and then he let his tongue take over and tasted her delicate skin, it was everything he imagined and more. She tasted like forbidden fruit and he could not get enough.
As he continued, he felt her begin to shiver, for a split second he thought this was due to fear but quickly he realised it wasn’t fear, it was her body responding to his treatment. Her body was feeling the effects of the bond and this was a good reaction, causing both him and Leon to growl against her again.
The growl had even more of an effect and Axel was quick to catch his beautiful Mate as her legs gave out from underneath her. He hooked them over his hips and kept her pinned to the wall, never faltering in lapping away at her neck. He liked seeing the effect he had on her and this made him want to ravish her more and more. What other reactions could he get? Would it be different if he were licking somewhere else? What would she taste like in other places? He could feel his member grow and press against her stomach as these thoughts swirled in his mind. Leon howled him on, panting at these very thoughts too.
The most sensual moan escaped her beautiful lips and Axel froze. That one sound made his wolf struggle for control, it was music to their ears and begged them to go further, to give in to the sexy thoughts he had just had dancing around his brain. Leon was very eager for them to follow these thoughts. But Axel noticed the way his Mate stiffened the moment the sound left her lips, it grounded him back to reality.
She was none the wiser as to why he was acting this way and must have been incredibly confused. He had to stop, if he didn’t stop now he might not be able to and he couldn’t risk losing her because of his lack of self-control chasing her away.
With all strength he could muster, he moved away from her neck; but not too far. He pressed his lips to her delicate ear and whispered.
“Where are your shoes…?” He asked her, fighting his primal urge to sensually lick her lobe. Instead he lovingly finished by adding. “...Little Mate.”
