Chapter 35
Chapter 35
|| LUCIUS's POV ||
As I lay on the bed, my body wracked with pain and my mind clouded with confusion, I felt Agatha's gentle touch as she tried to ease my suffering. But even as she tended to my wounds with care and compassion, my thoughts were consumed by one name, one face.
"Monica," I mumbled, my voice barely a whisper as I reached out for her, my fingers grasping at the empty air. "Where are you, Monica?"
Agatha's hands stilled at my words, her expression darkening with anger as she withdrew from my side. "Why do you keep calling for her?" she demanded, her voice laced with bitterness as she glared at me with undisguised resentment. "She's the one who brought you to this state in the first place."
I flinched at her words, the truth of her accusation cutting me to the core. "It wasn't her fault," I protested weakly, my voice hoarse with pain as I struggled to make her understand. "We were attacked. She was only trying to protect me."
But Agatha's anger only seemed to grow, her eyes flashing with fury as she turned her back on me. "I don't want to hear it," she spat, her voice dripping with contempt. "I won't stand by and watch you pine for another woman while I'm here, trying to take care of you."
With a heavy heart, I watched her leave the room, her footsteps echoing in the silence as she disappeared from view. Alone once more, I closed my eyes and let out a weary sigh, the weight of my guilt and remorse pressing down on me like a suffocating blanket.
"Monica," I whispered into the darkness, my voice filled with longing as I clung to the memory of her presence. "I'm sorry. I should have protected you."
But even as I spoke her name, I knew that she was out there somewhere, facing her own trials and tribulations with courage and determination. And as the darkness closed in around me, I vowed to find her, to make things right between us and to prove to her that my love for her was true and unwavering.
With that thought in mind, I let the darkness claim me, my mind drifting into a restless sleep filled with dreams of a future where Monica and I could be together at last, free from the pain and suffering that had torn us apart. And as I slipped into unconsciousness, I clung to the hope that someday, somehow, we would find our way back to each other, united in our love and bound by the strength of our shared destiny.

|| MONICA'S POV||
As I lay in the dimly lit room, my mind consumed with worry and guilt, the maid entered quietly, her footsteps barely audible against the cold stone floor. I watched her approach with wary eyes, my heart pounding with apprehension at the thought of someone discovering my presence.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper as I glanced around nervously, searching for any sign of danger.
The maid's expression softened with concern as she knelt beside me, her hands gentle as she began to tend to my injuries. "I'm here to help you," she replied, her voice kind and soothing. "You're hurt, and you need to be healed."
But even as she spoke, I couldn't shake the nagging sense of worry that gnawed at my heart. "I can't," I whispered, my voice thick with emotion as I struggled to hold back tears. "I need to be with Lucius. He needs me."
The maid's brow furrowed with concern as she glanced towards the door, her eyes filled with understanding. "I know you're worried about him," she said gently, her voice filled with empathy. "But you can't help him if you're not well yourself. Please, let me help you."
With a heavy sigh, I relented, allowing the maid to tend to my injuries with gentle hands and soothing words. As she worked, I felt a sense of calm wash over me, the pain in my body slowly fading away as her healing touch worked its magic.
But even as the physical wounds began to heal, the ache in my heart remained, a constant reminder of the distance that separated me from Lucius. I longed to be by his side, to hold him in my arms and assure him that everything would be alright. But I knew that I couldn't risk revealing myself, not when he was so vulnerable and in need of care.
As the night wore on, I could feel the bond between us growing stronger with each passing moment, a tangible connection that pulsed with energy and warmth. It was as if our souls were intertwined, bound together by an unbreakable thread of love and devotion.
And as the first light of dawn began to filter through the window, I knew that it was time for me to leave, to slip away into the shadows before anyone could see me. With a heavy heart, I rose from the bed, careful not to disturb Lucius as he slept soundly beside me.
With one last glance towards his sleeping form, I whispered a silent prayer for his well-being, vowing to return to him as soon as I could. And then, with a sense of determination coursing through my veins, I slipped out of the room and into the darkness beyond, disappearing into the night before anyone could see me.
As I made my way through the silent corridors of the castle, a sense of peace washed over me, knowing that Lucius was safe and sound, his injuries healed by the power of our bond. And as I stepped out into the cool morning air, I knew that no matter what trials lay ahead, we would face them together, united in our love and bound by the strength of our shared destiny.

As I made my way through the darkened streets, the weight of my mission heavy on my shoulders, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at my gut. But as I approached the meeting spot where Carter awaited me, I pushed aside my doubts and focused on the task at hand.
"Carter," I whispered, my voice barely above a breath as I spotted him lurking in the shadows. "What do you need from me?"
Carter's eyes gleamed with excitement as he stepped forward, his voice low and urgent. "Zion is waiting for your feedback," he said, his words sending a shiver down my spine. "But to give it, you need to steal the key to that old castle."
I felt a surge of apprehension at his words, the thought of breaking into Alpha Gerrat's stronghold filling me with dread. But I knew that I had no choice but to comply if I wanted to fulfill my mission and prove myself to Zion.
"I'll do it," I said firmly, my voice tinged with determination. "But it won't be easy."
Carter nodded in agreement, his expression serious as he outlined the plan. "We'll need to move quickly and quietly," he said, his voice barely a whisper as he glanced around for any sign of danger. "The key is likely heavily guarded, so we'll have to be careful."
With a nod of understanding, I followed Carter into the darkness, my heart pounding in my chest as we made our way towards the castle. Every shadow seemed to hold the threat of discovery, every sound echoing like a warning in the stillness of the night.
But as we reached the imposing gates of the castle, a sense of determination surged within me, driving me forward in spite of my fear. With Carter by my side, I knew that together we could overcome any obstacle that stood in our way.
With practiced skill, we slipped past the guards and made our way into the heart of the castle, our footsteps silent against the cold stone floor. Every creak of a floorboard, every rustle of fabric sent a jolt of adrenaline coursing through me, but I pushed aside my fear and focused on the task at hand.
Finally, we reached the chamber where the key was kept, its heavy wooden door looming before us like a barrier to our success. With trembling hands, I reached out and turned the handle, my heart pounding in my chest as I stepped inside.
The room was dark and musty, the air heavy with the scent of age and neglect. But as my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I spotted the key hanging from a hook on the far wall, its gleaming metal catching the faint light filtering in through the window.
With a silent prayer, I crossed the room and reached out for the key, my fingers closing around it with a sense of triumph. But as I turned to leave, a sudden noise from the hallway outside made my blood run cold.
"Someone's coming," I whispered, my voice barely a breath
as I glanced towards Carter with wide eyes. "We need to go, now."
