Chapter 65 - THE ROGUE ALPHA'S UNEXPECTED MATE

Zanian POV

Functioning on five hours sleep should be easy because I’m a wolf and we have a lot of energy, but let me tell you it is not easy nor is it a nice feeling. I hoped I would feel better after a shower all it did was make me lazy and more tired so here I am ransacking the kitchen in search for anything that would give e energy. Blaze is no help to me because he keeps his energy to himself with the excuse of *I have to be awake and ready for when something happens.* yah, that’s his excuse.

Chrystal and Julian on the other hand looks like they’ve had the best sleep of their lives.

‘found you.’ I said as I took out an energy drink from the fridge. I have no idea who’s it is and I don’t care.

I downed the can waiting for it to start working when Deliah came in. “what are you doing?”

She asked with a raised brow. “I need energy and I found this so I took it.” I said and showed her the can. She looked at me and I could see a ghost of a smile cross her face.

“big day today huh?” she asked

“yes and I can’t go looking like a zombie or worse, feeling like one.” I said and threw the can away.

“well Chrystal is outside she asked for you.” Deliah said and I left the kitchen.

When I got outside everyone was ready to leave. It’s not even ten in the morning yet and everyone looks fresh. I walked up to Chrystal who was having a conversation with Clarissa and sneaked my arms around her.

I felt a little better thanks to the mate bond. “you were looking for me?” I asked and laid my chin on her shoulder.

“yes, where have you been?” she asked.

“getting energy.” I said in a duh tone.

“well we are ready to leave and we got the map so let’s go.” She said and showed me the map.

“everyone memorized it, but they will follow behind us.” Chrystal said.

“okay, are we running?” I asked and I shouldn’t have.

“you can walk if you want to.” She said stepping out of my arms and looking at me.

“okay so how do we do this?” I asked

“Derek said they will run with us.” Chrystal said and tilted her head to the side.

“you sure you’re okay?” she asked me with concern.

“yes, I will be when Blaze gives me some of his energy which he will because i feel like I don’t even have enough to shift.” I said and pouted.

*you are just being dramatic because you can shift.* Blaze said and scoffed at me.

Okay everyone is ready to go so I walked up to the front with Julian and Chrystal beside me. I shifted into my wolf and watched as everyone else did too.

Chrystal was the last one to shift and when she did I gasped. She looks different almost like she is shinier and softer and she now has a golden crown with two swords crossed over each other on her left shoulder where her raven tattoo is in human form.

Her eyes are both green with a purple pupil which means Roxy is giving them some of her power too.

I walked over to her and she had to bend her head down so that I could press my forehead against hers and I felt energy surge through me like never before. This is even better than an adrenalin rush.

We took off running towards the kingdom. according to the map we will be running for about two hours.

I tried keeping up with Chrystal but every time I get close to her she just runs faster and I thing we lost Julian a while back.

“what are you doing?” came Chrystal’s voice in my head.

“I want to run with you not chase you.” I said and heard her laughing. She slowed her pace and I could finally run alongside her.

“is that better?” she asked with sarcasm.

“yes.” Was all I said and looked at her. the council is running just behind us and I must say for wolves as old as them, they sure do have stamina. Derek has a pitch black wolf with a crescent moon on his forehead, Clarissa is a caramel colour wolf with a white crescent moon on her left shoulder, Vivian is a bond wolf with a white crescent moon on her right ear, as for Charles and Cameron they both have black and brown wolves with a white crescent moon on their front left paws.

“we are almost there.” Chrystal said and slowed her pace. Julian caught up and is now behind us. He went to go feed so he took a different root.

About ten minutes later and we could see the Castle walls from behind the trees.

Chrystal slowed down and said, “we will shift here and walk because there is a lot of wolves patrolling.” I was the first one to shift and untied my clothes around my ankle.

When I shifted everyone else followed and I just shook my head at Chrystal, I don’t want any male eyes on her except our eyes.

I got dressed and blocked her from the others and she shifted. She took off her clothes from her ankle and got dressed.

“okay, we will go first, you, Julian and Chrystal are coming with the rest must stay here.” Derek said and started walking towards the castle.

Eliza POV

“he never came back Mario so that means he found them and they are stronger than we thought.” I said repeating myself like a fool over and over and Mario is just no listening to me. “do you know what this means?” I asked waiting for him to just say something.

“no Eliza I do not so please what is it that you know?” Mario shouted jumping up from his seat at the table and throwing his hands in the air.

“we know where they are.” I said and saw the realization sinking in.

He looked at me and smiled then said, “then what are we waiting for? It’s been almost a week.” Mario said pacing up and down.

Before I could answer a guard walked In.

“sorry to disturb but you have guests.” He said and he looked afraid. I raised a brown and asked, “what guests?”

He swallowed and said, “the council is here.”

I jumped to my feet looking at him. ‘what the hell is the council doing here?’ I thought as I looked over at Mario who just shrugged his shoulders.

“thank you we will be right out.” I said and the guard left.

I can feel my anxiety picking up because no one has seen or heard from them in years and now all of a sudden they show up.

As we walk to the main entrance I start feeling nervous which is so unlike me. I have never been nervous a day in my life after I turned 18.

The council came into view and I saw three other people with them. I squinted my eyes for the sun and focused on the other figures.

As we came closer my heart beat picked up and I tried to control it knowing the council can hear it, but it had a brain of its own.

We stopped in front of the council and I saw a satisfied smirk on Chrystal’s lips. I should have known they are behind this.

I bowed my head and formally greeted the council. When I looked up I saw the third figure and jumped back growling.

“you have no right to growl at my guests” one of the males spoke up and judging by his aura he’s the head councilmen. I stopped growling and smelled the air and my eyes landed on Chrystal.

“you mated with a vampire.” I asked in surprise and disgust.

“yes I have, these are my mates, Julian and your grandson Zanian.” Chrystal said and she looks proud of herself for some reason.

The council introduced themselves and the one named Derek spoke up.

“we understand that there is a problem and it has been brought to our attention. You killed an innocent unlawfully and separated a child from her father sending her to a life of abuse and hatred knowing what was going on you turned a blind eye and when she came to see you, you lied to her. am I correct?” Derek said and looked between me and Mario.

I took a deep breath and said, “the one I had killed was a fox, foxes are not allowed on royal grounds and it has been kept from us for years.” I said and looked at the council and Chrystal.

“did she pose any danger? And did you know that she was pregnant?” Derek asked raising a brow at me.

“she attacked one of our guards because he got too close to her mate.” I said knowing that I’m lying and strangely my heart beat didn’t pick up. ‘this is easier than I thought.’

“so you killed a pregnant woman because she was protecting her mate?” and this time the woman Clarissa asked.

I looked at her and said, “she almost killed a royal guard and that is punishable by death.” I said looking at her. she narrowed her eyes at me and said, “where is this guard now?”

“he died in a rogue attack not long ago.” I said and looked at them.

“how convenient.” Clarissa said and looked at Chrystal.

“go do your thing because I am tired of listening to lies.” Clarissa said and Chrystal took a step forward.

I took a step back and received a growl from Zanian. I looked at him and for the first time I could see how much he resembles Odin.

Chrystal took a step forward and was now standing in front of me. “give her your hand.” Derek said and it was not a request but a command. I gave Chrystal my hand and she closed her eyes.

‘everything I have worked so hard to keep secret is about to come out if she is doing what I think she is doing. I tried putting up mind blocked but she is stronger than me how that is possible I don’t know.

When she opened her eyes they were purple and they looked murderous. Without letting go of my hand she looked at me and said, “for a queen to go as far as to kill her own son because he was born with a fox will never be a queen in my eyes. Your hatred for foxes is personal it has nothing to do with the kingdom and kingdom rules. You killed my mother because she shifted and protected my father against a rogue attack that happened because you made a deal with the wrong rogue. I can see everything you tried to hide.

Chrystal said and stepped back dropping my hand and walking over to Mario. She took his hand and I just stood there frozen in place.

When she let go of him she just said, “and a coward for a king will never be tolerated.” And she stepped back.

I looked up and saw that every council member was looking at me.

“I will not give up my place as Queen for a fox and a wolf that knows nothing about being king” I spat and stepped back. I linked my warriors and they were already on their way.

“you don’t have a choice Eliza you either step down or you will be forced down.” Derek said and snarled at me. just then my warriors lined up behind me. I smirked at them and stepped back.

When I looked behind them I could see wolves coming out from the forest standing behind the council. I made a sad face and said, “fight if you will you don’t stand a chance.” I said and saw Chrystal’s expression change.

“you see, you have it all wrong Eliza. We have you surrounded.” Clarissa said and whistled.
