Chapter 217 Fantasies Out of Reach.

Chapter 217 Fantasies Out of Reach.
Hosea’s POV

Laurette Howard was majestic.

I racked my brain for another word to describe her with as I leaned against the bathroom counter, watching her brush her hair and apply several layers of creams and lotions on her face.

She was ethereal.

I was done showering and dressing up almost an hour ago. But Laurette remains wrapped in a towel with her damp hair falling beautifully over her one shoulder and her crystal clear skin shining like the sun.

I picked up the small rectangular tube of the cream she just applied on her face to study it, just as I have been doing for the previous hundred tubes. It all says strange words like ‘serums’, ‘toners’, ‘cleansers’ in different variations and a shit ton of incomprehensible ingredients that made me marvel at how brave she was to still put it all on her face.
The only thing I had recognized was a tube that was labelled ‘sunscreen’, which I was more than happy to be familiar with. Although it confused me as to why she was applying it indoors, and when I asked, I received a warm smile along with an epistle about how it was necessary to apply sunscreen even when indoors.

The entire pep talk ended and resulted in me standing beside her with a ‘sheet mask’ on my face, that honestly felt like I was being soaked in someone’s saliva. But the bright look in her eyes as she helped me put it on and rubbed it around my eyes made the entire thing worth it.
Even I began to love it at some point.

“With a skin as beautiful as yours, one would think you would at least be familiar with a little skincare.” She joked, running her fingers through her hair after applying oil on it, her eyes holding mine in the mirror.

“They couldn’t be more wrong”. I laughed, shaking my head before thinking better of it and standing still the moment the mask began to feel like it might slip off.

“You can move around with that.” Laurette tells me, probably noticing my conscious effort to remain still.

My cheeks heat and I’m glad I have a mask on. “Oh.”

“You’re lucky you’re a guy”. She says, going back to the topic of skincare. “I couldn’t miss a day of my routine or else I’m waking up with several spots on my face and a terrible mood.” She joked, warm eyes meeting mine in the mirror.

My fucked up mind decided that was the perfect moment to bring up the image of her gasping for air and panting my name as she went up and down my wood in the tub only minutes ago. I press my eyes shut and shake my head to push the thought away before I end up ruining what a perfect moment this was with my sick and obsessive thoughts.

God, I really need to calm my ass down.

“I’m sure it can’t be that bad.” I muse, fiddling with tiny circular container of a different cream in front of me. “You’re marvelous to look at anyway.”

Her silence causes me to look up, and her eyes are staring sheepishly at me as her hands tap a white fluid-like liquid into the skin of her face. She presses her hands against her cheeks and looks away, but I already catch the darker shade of pink climbing up her cheeks.

“You’re lovely to look at”. I repeat, shoving my hands into the pockets of my sweats and reveling in the joy of watching her struggle to contain her smile.

“You’re lovely to look at as well”. She chokes out, clearing her throat and rolling her hair up. The sight of her long and freshly bruised neck has me looking away again with yet another pained groan, because what was happening to me because of this girl couldn’t be normal.

I was like this sick, depraved bush animal, who had his sights on one thing. Her.

But this wasn’t ordinary. Laurette wasn’t like other girls I’d been with. She actually means something to me. And wasn’t gonna let what I was used to ruin what I currently have.

Minutes later, Laurette and I descended the stairs to the living room.

“Oh Heavens look how much you’ve grown!” The familiar face of the woman that paid much more attention to me as a child than my own mother comes into my view immediately, her hands covering her mouth in a sharp gasp.

Laurette observes silently as Martha looks me over, her eyes crinkling in joy as she reaches for my hand. I give it to her, simply offering her a sheepish smile as I had no idea what exactly to do in this moment.

Do I twirl to show her how the ass she wiped is now thick and muscular? What exactly do you do in situations like these?

“Oh look at you, how lovely!” She pats my arm, eyeing me with what I can only describe as motherly concern. “I waited ages to hear from you, boy. I’m so happy to see how much you’ve grown. You’re doing good, eh?”

“I am, Mrs Martha”. I nodded, addressing her the same way I did as a child.

She waved the air with a warm smile, her eyes flitting beside me. She lets go of my hand immediately and reaches for Laurette’s. “Oh! And you must be the lady he spoke about. What a stunner!” She throws me a knowing glance, and I read the approval in her eyes.

I dip my chin to hide my blush, my finger coming up to flick my nose. This woman sure knows how to take me back to feeling like a shy little kid.

“Nice to meet you, Mrs Martha. I’m Laurette”. Laurette introduces herself, her tiny voice betraying whatever nerves she must be feeling. But my palms going to smooth over her back seems to do the trick.

“Aww… aren’t you gorgeous, love? Pleasure to meet you too.” Martha pulls on Laurette’s hand, dragging her towards the dining area where the sweet aroma of food loomed. “Let’s not waste any more time I know you two must be famished.”

That we are.

Laurette gives me a shy smile before settling beside me, on the chair I pulled out for her. Her hands snake to feel mine beneath the table until finally, our food is served and it’s the most mouth watering meal I’ve ever had.
I steal glances at Laurette all the while she eats, feeling like I have the world’s most precious jewel in my possession. And for the next couple minutes as we eat, I start to think that I really could get used to living like this.

An Honest life. With the one I love.
Tucked away in the deepest part of the woods where our fears and worries were nonexistent. My mind tries to imagine how happy I would be.

But almost as fast it came, it was gone. And all those fantasies caught flames the moment my phone began to vibrate in my pocket. I pull it out to check the name on the screen.

Don Vitto.
