Chapter 64 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 64 Untitled Chapter
I was absorbed in my sweat, top soaked, and throat parched. My entire body aches from climbing up and down the mountain.

I had decided to use that magic, but unfortunately, it didn't work when I waved my hand. The moon goddess must have taken it away, and I had no choice but to climb.

If my pack members could see me in this state, they would probably look down on me.

“Brace up,” Amy said, her tone between mockery and laughter. “The good thing here is, we have made it into the town. So now, we must bring out our A…”

Thud!

“Watch it!” I snapped at the weird-looking lady, emitting a strong smoke scent, who had bumped into me. Her expression was darkened, evil, and she had a black, huge, black tattoo on the side of her neck, the mark Shadows’ members mark.

“Where do you come from, lunatic?” She scanned me from head to toe with a smirk on her face, the kind that would make you want to run away.

“I am not a lunatic, and you should watch where you are going!” I snapped, stepping closer to her, eyes fixed on her like a sharp blade.

I was so annoyed and wanted to fight with her, but Amy stamped on my mind, and the voice in my head spoke.

“Stop acting recklessly, Amelia. We need to do what brings us here and leave as soon as we can. Engaging in a fight right now will draw the attention of the rest of them, and you know the rest.”

Gosh! Can't I just teach her a lesson? Even for once? She's so annoying, trying to pick a fight when she was the one who intentionally bumped into me.

“You don't look like us.” Her eyes narrowed, and she started sniffing me. “You don't smell like us either.”

What da!

“Get out of here right now!” Amy snapped, and without looking at the lady, I walked past her. “My eyes are on you, lady; you look like a spy.”

Jeez! I increased my pace when she said that, and as I hurried away, I didn't turn to look at her. I hope no one recognizes me in this town, and I must find a way to smell like them.

As I walked down the busy street, soaked in sweat, eyes stared at me, whispers broke out, and fingers pointed towards me.

However, I ignored them, calming my mind and looking away from them. To stop hearing what they were all saying, I busied myself chatting with Amy.

“We need to find a laundry shop. I am soaking wet and have started feeling cold.”

We looked around, turning from left to right, hoping to find out, but couldn't see anything. Then I decided to stop a lady who was passing by.

“Excuse me, please, sorry to interrupt you. Can you please show me where I can find a laundry shop? I also need a change of clothing.”

She looked at me from head to toe in a confused state. “Are you new here?”

I didn't know what to answer her because I don't want them to know I am new here. I might get into trouble and be kicked out or worse, killed.

“I…just…uhm…”

She chuckled softly, reached for my hand, and smiled. “Do not worry, your secret is safe with me.” She winked at me, looked around, and pulled me along.

I was confused, wondering what she meant by my secret is safe with her. What secret? Does she know I don't belong there?

She walked me down the street, past many shops, and then finally arrived at a shop that has a sign of a washing machine and detergents on the glass door.

I sighed in relief when she took me inside and gave me a dry, clean top.

“I work here,” she smiled, placing the bag she came with on the counter. “Oh, that's great.” I smiled back, folding the top in my hand nervously.

When she turned her back on me, she had the Dark Shadows sect’s mark on her neck, but surprisingly, she didn't smell like them. Her aura emits a lavender scent, just like mine, and it makes me wonder if she is in disguise just like me.

“There’s a room over there. Go change, and when you are done, I will show you around.”

This is confusing. Does she know who I am? Why is she being so nice and talking to me with respect?

Something is fishy here, and whatever it is, healer Matt must know. Maybe I should give him a call and ask so I will be sure I have not fallen into the wrong hands.

“Do not worry, Alpha Amelia, I know who you are, and I was sent here to be your guide,” she whispered as soon as I stepped out of the room.

My heart stopped beating for a second, and my eyes widened in shock when she called my name. But as soon as she completed her statement, I sighed in relief.

Thank goodness they decided to send someone to guide me here. But why does she have the tattoo when she doesn't belong with them? I was curious, so I asked her.

“In this town, there are a lot of creatures: werewolves, dragons, vampires, and fairies. And all of them belong to this sect,” she pointed at her neck. “And they all have this mark on their necks.”

Vampires? What! What on earth were they thinking when they formed the sect? Vampires and werewolves are enemies because they feed on the wolf's blood to increase their strength.

Having them mixed in the same town, under the same leader, is the most terrible thing ever.

“Mine isn't real; it is just to disguise myself. I will put one on you later. And while you are here, do not get into a fight with any of them, as they are dangerous.”

I’ll definitely be careful, especially with the vampires. When I see any of them, I must change direction.

A few minutes later, Matilda gave me a bottle of perfume that smells horrible because it has a smoky scent. She said I must spray it on myself every day so I wouldn't be caught as an outsider.

“What about you? You smell like lavender, too.”

“Yes, I forgot to use the perfume this morning; my bad.”

Well, I hope this works. And without wasting much of our time, I must start seeking the leader tomorrow.
