Chapter 34 Untitled Chapter
“Let me at him!” Kael growled, snapping his jaw. This time, I didn't stop him; we both needed to teach Axel a lesson for thinking he could fool us and go scot-free.
Kael shifted, taking him unaware from the back by jumping and pushing him down with a loud thud. Amelia gasped sharply, her eyes widened in shock as she stared at us in bewilderment. However, her stare was ignored as Kael took Axel between his huge paws, pressed his claws on his neck, and growled at him with clenched teeth.
“You think you can fool us?” He thundered, his voice piercing through the walls like a thunderclap.
Axel’s eyes were filled with fear, but that wasn't what I wanted. I want him to shift, to show us the kind of wolf he is. He is a rogue, a rebellious wolf whose only ambition is to kill and drink the blood of his targets.
“Hans!” Amelia snapped, trying to push me away from Axel, who was trembling beneath Kael. But he stood firm, staring at Amelia while pulling his claws into Axel’s skin, injuring him on the shoulder.
When Axel let out a scream, Amelia let Amy shift, and she kicked Kael away from Axel, then shifted back.
I was shocked because, as huge as Kael was, Amy was able to push him down with just a kick, one simple kick! Never has he ever been pushed down by any wolf since the time I let him out.
But I wasn't surprised for long; she now has power, and she could have kicked me away from Axel without letting Amy take over.
“Were you trying to kill him?” She yelled at me, staring with deep red eyes filled with rage.
Yes, I was going to kill him if he didn't do what I'd wanted. But why would she save him? He is a dangerous dude who shouldn't be left dwelling in this Pack.
“Get away from him, Amelia; he is a rogue. He was the one who killed the manager for a reason; he is hiding from all of us.”
Both Amelia and Axel gasped shockingly, their jaws dropped, and their nostrils flared.
She released his hand, stood straight, and glared at me as if I had just spoken a forbidden word. Why is she surprised and upset? Shouldn't she have known by now that Axel isn't who we all thought he was? She literally saw him in the Packhouse that day when I brought her back home, and she, too, was surprised to see him with the omegas.
I thought from that day onward, she wouldn't trust him again and would have pointed accusing fingers at him when we arrived at the manager’s house and saw him there.
“I swear, I don't know what you are talking about, Alpha Hans. It wasn't me who killed the manager. How could I even do that? He did nothing to me,” he cried out, eyes flicking from me to Amelia.
Amelia sighed deeply, told him to leave, and then turned towards me after he was gone.
“Whatever it is you are doing, stop doing it, Hans. Axel is a loser; there is no way that dude would have killed the manager. I don't know what you heard or what you saw from him, but I can assure you that he is innocent. So, please, leave him alone and stay away from him!”
She scoffed at my face and brushed past me, then stormed out of the room.
“Amelia doesn't believe us, Hans. What should we do now?” His voice cracked halfway, then his shoulders slumped, and he went down on his paws.
AMELIA BROOK
I don't know what Hans is thinking to have let Kael bounce on Axel that way. It isn't like I trust that dude; I don't trust him either because he is acting suspiciously. But that wasn't the right time to act against him. I want to catch him in the act when he wouldn't have a chance to deny it.
But he doesn't understand; he thinks I am taking Axel’s side because I don't know what is going on. I definitely know, and I have been suspecting him since the day I saw him in the Packhouse with his clan, the omegas.
I'd wanted to have him arrested and tortured to confess whatever he is hiding, but I'd decided again to watch him, and I've also had people stalking him for me.
“Amelia?” Hans called, hurrying towards the parking lot.
“He caused your accident. I saw him making a call earlier at the manager’s house. And I caught him peeking through the window, commanding someone on the phone.”
Did he cause the accident? How? Well, I need to give more attention to that dude.
“Hans, relax; do not embarrass me, okay? We should go see the healer and discuss the thing I saw inside the wind, okay?”
Hans didn't say a word throughout the ride to the healer’s house, but he was so lost in thought, probably thinking about how to deal with Axel.
When we arrived at the healer’s house, we couldn't meet up with him. The security guy at the gate said he had gone on a journey. So, we returned to the office, and luckily for him, Axel changed direction when he saw Hans and me entering the company.
That was good for him, or else he would have found himself flying in the air.
“Alpha Amelia?” The general bowed his head, placing a file on my desk.
“I am so happy you are okay. But how did you survive the accident when your driver is still in the hospital, fighting for his life and death?”
The audacity. Does he want me to tell him that my magic shielded me from getting hurt?
“What brought you here, General Lykon? Say it and go your way.” Hans said, waving his hand as if he had been forced to say it.
He apologized, opened the file, and handed it over to him.
“It is about the Valtorium Pack, Alphas.”
Oh, that. I didn't forget it. I was going to give the order today, but unfortunately, I got into an accident.
“Send troops into that Pack and have it sealed. Just like I said earlier, I want all the Pack members brought back here as slaves. Do not make any mistakes, General Lykon; I want that Pack gone!”
Rowan messed with the wrong person. Didn't he say the Lunskye Pack would become history? Then whose Pack is becoming history now?
