Chapter 32 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 32 Untitled Chapter
HANS MORGAN

The incident from two days ago still confused me, not the attack, though, but Axel. How on earth was he able to gather all the omegas from his clan inside the Packhouse for safety when the entire Pack's members were in trouble?

There was no way he could have led them from the Pack when it was under attack; all the roads were blocked by the rogues, and Axel wouldn't have gotten his way through them without getting killed.

He is fragile, a loser, and hasn't even let out his wolves at his age. That dude must be up to something dangerous.

I know he said he got the information about the attack, so he gathered his populace for safety, but that doesn't add up. I don't believe that, and I don't trust him.

What if he and Rowan had an agreement that Axel would help them enter the Pack without any obstacles, and then they would repay him by not attacking the Packhouse because the weaklings would be gathered there?

“We must keep an eye on him, Hans. I don't trust him either. Remember Amelia caught him with her hairpin in her office?”

Oh, yes, that is true!

What could he be doing with it? Where did he find it? And why did it slip off his hand when he was caught?

Hmmm, Amelia must be careful with him, and it is time for me to stop leaving them alone in her office.

I just hope I didn't make any mistakes choosing that dude. Well, I hope not because I am going to assign tasks to keep an eye on him.

“The manager has been murdered,” the general announced in a trembling voice. My heart stilled for a breath, trying to process the information we had just received.

He was killed? How? Things are getting out of hand in this Pack. It hasn't even been up to a week since the attack, and now the airport manager has been killed?

“How?” Amelia asked, returning to her seat. “Who did that?” She turned around swiftly. “Are you sure it was a murder? Wasn't it a suicide?”

Wait… that might be true. The manager knows the consequences of what he did, so he must have taken his own life to avoid being disgraced in the Pack.

“No, Alpha Amelia, he was murdered in his house this morning. When I sent warriors to arrest him from his office, they were informed that the manager was at home, so they went to his house and found his corpse there. This is a serious case, Alpha Amelia. Please allow me to dig into it and fish out the murderer.”

Whoa!

“Do that and bring me the murderer today!”

We went to the manager’s house later, and truthfully, he was murdered. There were pawprints all over his room, and the wall was painted in blood. That pawprint wasn't like that of an ordinary wolf; it belonged to a huge wolf, whose woody scent still lingered in the room.

“It was a Rogue,” Kael growled, sniffing the room. “And this scent smells familiar.”

It does smell familiar, but I can't remember where I once perceived that smell. Even Kael couldn't remember either.

“Hans?” Amelia called, exhausted, and sat down on the chair offered to her by Axel.

“Can we go home now? I need to rest.” She turned to Axe, who was standing beside her holding a bottle of water. “Have you sorted out the file I signed yesterday?”

“Y…Yes, Alpha Amelia,” he stuttered, clutching the bottle as if it was going to slip out of his hand.

She waved him off after taking the bottle of water from him. As soon as Axel left and Amelia pulled off the cap from the bottle, I snatched the bottle from her hand, making the water splash on her dress.

She was so upset, but I didn't care. Her safety is the only thing I am after. Who knows? Axel must have poisoned that water, and if she takes it, she will die.

“What was that?” Her brows furrowed into a frown, getting up from the chair.

“Why would you do that, Hans?”

“Sorry, I was tasty.”

She hissed loudly, pushed me out of her way, and stormed out of the room.

“That was thoughtful of you, Hans. I would have done it if you hadn't seized the water from her hand.”

While Amelia wanted to go home, I had other plans, so I told her to go without me so that I would meet her when I was done in that house. Luckily, she didn't suspect anything and told the driver to take her away.

As soon as the car drove out of the house, my eyes drifted to the parking lot a distance away from where I stood. And guess who I saw making a call behind a car? Axel, of course.

He was peeking at Amelia’s car, which was being driven out of the house, and talking on the phone as if he were giving an order.

I knew that guy wasn't to be trusted, and the way he was acting showed he was up to something stupid.

“Can you hear what he is saying?” I asked Kael, looking for a way to go to that parking lot without being seen by Axel.

“Of course not, I don't have that power; only Amy does.”

Oh, yes, that is true. Had it not been for Amelia leaving, she would have heard all he was saying. Should I call her back? But that is going to be a waste of time. Before she gets here, he must be done with whatever he was saying.

“He looks suspicious, Hans. I suggest we go there to…”

I cut off the connection with Kael when my phone beeped. But it wasn't something important; I returned the phone and tried mind-linking Kael again, but he ignored me.

When I returned my gaze to the parking lot, Axel wasn't there any longer, but I caught a glimpse of him heading towards the backyard, so I followed him.

I hide behind a tree, watching him peek inside the manager’s room through the window, still holding the phone to his ear.

“I told you it wasn't there,” he whispered, then his face darkened, and for the first time, I saw him get angry.

“Are you nuts?” he shouted, his lips twitching in rage.

Wow! Who knew this dude wasn't the weakling we all thought he was?

“Why can't you do things right, dude? If you get caught, then you are on your own!”

The moment he said that, his eyes met mine, and the phone slipped out of his hand.
