Chapter 106 Untitled Chapter
I nodded to him slightly, then pulled out my phone from the bag.
A few minutes later, we arrived at the house, and from the outside, you would know that the house belonged to a wolf with rank.
“This is Mr. Ryder’s house. He was one of the elders in the pack,” he explained, shaking his head sadly. “Yesterday, his daughter was getting married, and they were throwing a party in the house when they were attacked.” He said his eyes were still fixed on the floor.
When I veered towards him, I saw tears gathered in his eyes. That was why he lowered his head so they wouldn't see the general shedding tears.
So the demons must be targeting the places where the pack members are gathered. The last attack was in a clubhouse. A lot of the members were at the party when they were attacked. And this too, they were gathered merrily, celebrating the occasion.
I think I am getting the hang of these. These demons aren't attacking my members one after the other. No, they have changed their tactics. They want to wipe them out all at once. So now that I have gotten a hit of it, I shall deal with them.
I quickly turned to the general again, inhaling deeply, “Pass this command! From today henceforth, I have canceled all the gatherings in this pack until I succeed in capturing the demons and getting rid of them.”
“Yes, Alpha Amelia, I shall do that.” He bowed his head and hurried off.
The moment he was gone, I headed towards the building, careful not to march on any of the corpses on the ground. The demons had really caused damage in this house. They didn't only kill those who were partying last night; they also ruined the building, shattering the whole place and turning it into an abandoned place deep inside a forest.
“Careful, Alpha Amelia.” One of the elders who was present there said, offering me his hand for support when I was about to trip.
I lifted my hand to hold him, but something in me kicked my head, and I stepped back. It can be Amy, right? I doubt that. Amy has been keeping a grudge with me since yesterday and has refused to speak a word.
“So why didn't any of you inform me that Elder Ryder’s daughter was getting married?” I asked the elders, and in turn, they lowered their heads, shaking them vigorously.
“We are so sorry, Alpha Amelia. It came urgently, and he insisted we hold the wedding as soon as possible because he wanted his daughter to leave the pack in the middle of the night.”
Leave the pack in the middle of the night? Why? Was he tired of his daughter? Perhaps she had grown so big that he was eager for her to find a mate and send her out of his house.
Also, would it be that there was something he was hiding and wanted his daughter to leave as soon as possible?
“Why would he hold a wedding in the night? Why was he so eager for her to leave?” I ask the elders because my curiosity wouldn't wither away.
The elders exchanged glances, and with the look on their faces, I knew there was something I hadn't been told.
“Since Elder Ryder is no longer alive, we shall tell you the whole truth. But before that, we want you to know that we have no hand in this, Alpha Amelia.”
Ohh, wow! This sounds so interesting. I crossed my arms and tilted my head, my eyes still on them like a predator.
“I am listening.”
One of the elders stepped forward and bowed his head.
“Alpha Amelia, elder Ryder gave out his daughter to Alpha Hams of the Arkonix pack.”
What! Hams?
He gave his daughter to Hams? What kind of betrayal is this? How dare he even think of doing that? Hams is an enemy of this pack. He is the only enemy alpha who didn't die in the dark shadows sect, and I have warned him to stay away from my pack, yet he decided to come and choose a mate here.
I swear, I would have chopped off Ryder’s head and that of his entire family for trying to betray me. But now that the demon had done the job, it was a good thing because he had just been saved from communal embarrassment.
“You guys know about this, yet you didn't care to inform me that Ryder was trying to conspire with our enemy, correct?” I snapped at them, clutching my fingers into a fist.
The elder stepped back, bowing their heads and apologizing, “We tried to talk him out of doing that, but he insisted on giving his daughter to Alpha Hms of the Arkonix pack as a luna. And in exchange, Alpha Hams will make him his right-hand man.”
Cool, this is amazing! So, Hams will have a right-hand man inside my pack. Which means Elder Ryder would be his eyes and ears inside my pack. If that happened, we would no longer have any secrets left in my pack.
I can't believe a thing such as that nearly happened in my pack. Well, all thanks to the demons for dealing with the betrayer for me, and now that I have figured out the sin of the elder and his family, I have no interest in their murders again.
“On my command, I want the corpses inside this mansion to be thrown in the forest!”
The elders were so shocked and confused. One after the other, they started apologizing.
“Please, Alpha Amelia, do not do this. Forgive Elder Ryder for this terrible thing he wanted to do. He had no idea that one day his stupid decision would backfire if he succeeded in giving out his daughter to Alpha Hams.”
Another one chipped it. “For the sake of the good things he had done in this pack, I plead with you to give him a befitting burial.’
And yes, I am giving him the burial he deserved. They all know that whoever tries to backstab an alpha in their pack always ends up in the forest after dying. Even if he were my right-hand man and he committed this grave sin, I would throw him inside the evil forest so the wild animals would feed on him alive.
“I won’t repeat it, elders. If any of the corpses are taken somewhere else and not the forest, and I get to find out, you all are doomed.” I snapped at them and stormed away.
