"Accept the collaboration. It's a huge opportunity for us to go Asia for our business and neglecting or rejecting this opportunity will only make us regret after." I shot a positive look at my assistant who nods happily and struts out the window. My gaze wanders to the floor-to-ceiling glass window. City horizon stretches perfectly, calmly as if nothing has changed in the last hours. But that's not just the truth.
The shrill ringing of my phone pulls me out of my thoughts and I glance at my phone. Cecily's name flash across the screen. I breath in deeply before answering the call.
"You left him for a meeting?" Cecily shrieks from the other side from the phone, the background hums beneath her voice that should have calmed me but it only intensifies my panic.
For a moment I don't speak. I couldn't speak. How could I? What would I answer her? That yes I did. But my hesitation only proves her right.
"When did business came before love for you?" She asked, her voice more quiet and calm. My eyes twitches, burns and face heats up.
"Cecily," I began. My voice wavering and fire catching up in my throat.
"Was it even love?" I ask. The only answer that greets me is silence.
"He was finally noticing you." She reasons after a moment of silence. Her voice firmer, rigid as if she wasn't coaxing but trying to get a better hold of situation.
"At what expanse? I almost lost myself." The admit runs cruel and deep like a slave—bleeding and burning.
"My business is all I have. If it wasn't you and this business who knows if I would be alive right now. It's such a disappointment to make our soul stay with the attachment of materialism. Where did humanity vanished?" Tears dance down cheek like a snowflake and all the feelings that I have always kept to me burst into flame. Humiliation, neglect, love that was no where, blame for the mistakes I never even did.
"I am sorry." She whispers and flate out my hand on the marble desk, letting the cold surface calm me.
"Why are you even sorry? You never hurt me." I muttered and hang up the call as I lean back on the swivel chair and let the tears run dry.
Flashback catches upto me, yellings, swears and words that a child should never.
"I am so tired. God, I am so tired!" The weak cry escapes me before I even realize that I was crying. And suddenly I am crying for every version of me who never got love. This one, who had to lose herself just to get love. But not again. This time I will just move away from the people who can't accept me. Away from the people who think I am nothing better than just being to use. Away from the people who have used me. Away forever.

"How far are we into.this project?" I ask my assistant and she fills me up with all the details that I have missed.
"I think we should visit the factory this week. Give them a heads up." She suggests as she points some minor tweaks in the production.
"And did we secure the tenure for the mining place?" I ask but before she could speak the door burst open and there is him inall his glory heaving on the door.
author's note
hey, everyone I know this is a small and not a very good chapter. The thing is I just returned to novelsnack and the past—let's just say I wouldn't like to visit it in any form. But I am back (though I don't know for how long) but I am back and I am planning to complete every novel I started on this platform. It might take longer than I think. But if you all stick with me. I think I will do it.
thankyou!
