Henry's hand loosened for a moment when he saw a faint hint of pain on Evelyn's face.
Quickly, Evelyn withdrew her hand and shook it.
Her hand did hurt. She wondered why this man have such strength.
Looking at his now-empty hand, Henry suddenly felt a sense of loss.
Was she so eager to distance herself from him in front of that man?
What was she going to do next? Hurry to another man?
He couldn't restrain himself.
"Evelyn." Henry was genuinely irritated, his deep voice.
In her previous life, seeing him like this, Evelyn would have been scared to death, but now, she felt a warm sensation in her heart.
"Alright." In a soft voice, tinged with a hint of appeasement, Evelyn took a small step forward and held Henry's hand again, fingers interlaced.
"I won't casually let go of you next time. It's your fault for using so much force just now; it hurts."
In an instant, Henry's mind went blank.
Everything was different from what he had expected. He even planned that if Evelyn caused a scene or threw a tantrum, he would just take her away.
William, witnessing this, couldn't help but furrow his brow. Especially seeing Henry subside from his hostility to calmness because of a small action from Evelyn, he felt extremely uncomfortable. Evelyn was actually very beautiful. If it weren't for on that banquet, where he was enchanted by the piano piece Mia played, he might have been attracted to this woman.
"Evelyn, I have something to tell you," William couldn't help but speak up.
He could put on the most elegant appearance in the world. In the past, Evelyn was deceived by his gaze filled with tenderness.
But now, just seeing him made her nauseous.
The girl didn't come over, and William felt a bit anxious.
Immediately, he put on a stern face. "If you don't come over, you won't see me for the rest of this month."
In the past, as long as he frowned, Evelyn would obediently agree to all his requests. Now that he intentionally put on a stern face, Evelyn must be panicking.
Seeing her indeed walking towards him, William was extremely satisfied. He even gave Henry a provocative look.
Evelyn stopped in front of him, looking at him disdainfully.
"If I could be happy without seeing you for the rest of my life, that would be great. You, this disgusting trash with an unpleasant voice, who would want to see you?"
She already had a handsome husband by her side. Why would she care about him?
"Scumbag, stop deluding yourself."
Unable to comprehend what had just occurred, William tentatively reached out to touch her hand. However, Evelyn swiftly slapped his hand away, delivering a resounding slap across his face. Without hesitation, she forcefully pulled Henry into the waiting car parked nearby.
David had been stunned by this scene.
He thought it was another bloody showdown between Evelyn and his boss, but unexpectedly, a massive plot twist occurred.
This madam... did she really changed?
Lost in his thoughts, he didn't even hear Evelyn urging him to drive.
Evelyn gave him a big eye roll. "David, drive! Are you deaf?"
Feeling aggrieved, David weakly sought approval from Henry. "Boss?"
"Drive." Not even a glance was given to David. Henry focused on Evelyn, captivated by the vivid emotions on her face.
Once, he had given up hope, even thinking that as long as Evelyn stayed by his side, he could turn a blind eye to anything. But now, it seemed like something had changed.
Henry closed his eyes slightly, a beautiful curve appearing at the corner of his lips. His long fingers gently touched Evelyn's head, caressing it with increasing tenderness, as if handling a rare treasure.
If everything happened in these two days was a performance, he hoped this play would go on forever.
'Evelyn, this time, I really can't let go.'
Evelyn didn't notice Henry's change; her eyes were fixed on the window.
She only breathed a sigh of relief after leaving the hospital.
"Phew, luckily we escaped."
"Escape?" Henry whispered.
Evelyn glanced at him, "Didn't you see he was half a head taller than me? If I didn't run away, what if he got angry and beat me up?"
That would hurt a lot.
Henry was surprised. He hadn't expected this reason. Seeing that Evelyn wasn't faking, he pulled her into his arms.
"He wouldn't dare."
Though Evelyn wasn't short, she was completely enveloped in Henry's embrace, feeling a genuine sense of security. Her eyes turn red, and tears swirled in her eyes.
In her past life, no matter how she acted, he was always there to shield her from the wind and rain.
Standing at the pinnacle of the top-tier society, Henry, the authoritative figure overseeing everything in The Wilson Family, who can devoured everything in the business world, always by her side.
Reaching out to embrace him, Evelyn murmured with a touch of loss, "I'm truly foolish."
As her words fell, the air in the car stagnated for a moment, then softened completely.
"Not foolish."
The man's low, gentle voice naturally brushed past her ears. Evelyn felt as if she were a little drunk despite not having consumed any alcohol.
"Mm, not foolish." She wouldn't be foolish anymore in the future.
As the atmosphere between them intensified, a cellphone suddenly rang.
