65. Famous Act 6
65. Famous Act 6
Her voice attracted Capt. Bolton and he looked up in its direction. When he saw her disheveled look, he commanded, “Take her out of here immediately.”
Since on her accord, she stripped herself of Tim - her glory and covering, anyone can trample on her.
“I got it, Captain,” the Corporal agreed and brought out his handcuffs.
Nevertheless, the cameramen were diligent in their duties. They captured the scene, and before they realized that it was not part of the program, they withdrew their cameras, and it had been aired, and they could not stop it.
At that point, she opted to leave on her own. Meanwhile, Stephanie was surprised to see her dressed like that and attributed it to the divorce and miscarriage.
Laura's House
Right from the time she left for the complex, her parents were glued to the television and waited eagerly to see her execute their instructions. They were conversant with the distance and the estimated time of her arrival.
“Why is she not there yet?” Her father asked anxiously and her mother was mute.
They watched the television in silence and cursed Stephanie in their minds for taking their daughter's job. After a long wait, they saw her walk into the auction ground while another person was holding the microphone.
“Why is she looking like this?” Her mother asked.
Now, her father was mute and tried to process the situation. Of course, they did not expect her to snatch the microphone from a Captain if she was not tired of life and wished to die.
They watched anxiously until Capt. Bolton shouted at her and they shuddered as though he was shouting at them. Their fear increased when Cpl. Barton brought out the handcuffs.
“Oh, my God! What has she done to deserve this?” Her mother exclaimed.
Her father was mute for a while before he spoke, “I will advise that she should contact the new President immediately.”
“Why do you think so?”
“She should do that earlier than others and let him know the situation of things. Otherwise, before he resumes, they would have vilified her before him.”
His wife thought for a while before she responded, “That is a good idea. But how will she get across to him? She does not have his contact.”
“That is true. We will brainstorm on how to get it if she returns.”
“That is good,” her mother approved.
Tim's House
As powerful as he was, his heart was pounding harder and harder as he drove on. He imagined what would have happened if Laura had seen him. Not long after, he was at home, and George got out of the car after he parked. Instead of getting out of the car, he sat back and monitored the auction sales from his device.
Her stupidity knows no bounds. Why are her clothes wet?” he pointed out after she walked away instead of being locked up in the guardroom.
Nevertheless, his curiosity will not be satiated if he does not know what she will report to her family.
“I will find out what she will tell her parents and why she chose to appear with wet clothes,” he resolved and got out of the car.
He walked into the boys' room and to his delight, they were sleeping peacefully while their intolerable big sister was running away from the shackles. Irony of life.
“They need it,” he said and shut the door.
He walked to his room, turned on his television, and rested on his bed. The local channels were still transmitting the auction sales and he watched on.
“Selfish man,” he said happily when the sales came to an end and Mr. Watson bought almost half of the cars.
It was clear to him why he proposed that the cars should be merged. Now, it was time for lunch and he freshened up, dressed up, and walked to the boys' room.
“They are awake,” he said when he met their bed empty and followed them to the parlor.
Meanwhile, the chef on duty, Sgt. Francis Hilton, was different from the one they met the previous week but they got along. Tim was happy when he saw them setting the table with the chef.
“How come they are different from the other members of their family?” He wondered.
"Lunch is ready," the chef announced and interrupted his thoughts.
“Thank you, Francis, for this,” he appreciated him and walked to the table.
Gerald and Samuel joined him and they began to eat. Samuel felt that putting him through the training they got at the training range was a recompense for the kindness he had shown to them, and reminded him.
“Brother-in-law, will you be chanced today for the training?”
Tim looked at his cheerful face and asked, in wonderment, “Which training?”
“The training that we got at the shooting range today,” Gerald reminded him.
“Oh! I completely forgot. It's all right. I will be chanced.”
The boys were happy at his acceptance and they scheduled to meet at 5 PM in the garden. They ate their food silently and afterward, they left for their rooms. Tim could not wait to connect with Laura and her parents.
“Why are your clothes wet? Did it rain there?” Her father asked the moment she walked into the house.
She explained all she knew about the water and Tim laughed loudly. Then, he continued watching.
“I could not snatch the microphone from her as you advised me,” she informed her parents after she sat down dejectedly on the monobloc chair to avoid wetting the couch.
“This is ridiculous. So she wanted to disrupt the auction sales by snatching the microphone from Stephanie?” He wondered.
“Don't bother yourself, my daughter. We saw everything,” her father consoled her.
“Can you imagine such a degree of hatred? Stephanie has finished me before everyone,” she cried out.
“Stop crying, dear. She will have a taste of her medicine someday,” her mother encouraged her.
“Your mother is right. We have a great idea that would keep her where she belongs.”
She focused on her father, askance, and he smiled softly. Tim was desperate to hear the great idea, too, and he focused on his device.
They relayed their decision on how to meet the new President ahead of Stephanie and she was thrilled.
“Wow! That is great. How come I have not thought about it?”
“You were overburdened to think straight.”
“That's the truth. We are here to watch your back,” her mother added.
Tim shook his head, amused himself, and said, “Keep dreaming. You are in for a shock.”
He continued watching them while they continued fooling themselves.
“Your ideas are good, Mom and Dad. But how will I get across to him? I don't have his contact.”
“We thought of it but there must be a way out,” her father stated.
“How?” She asked excitedly.
“No one knows him. Not even the General Manager,” she straightened out.
They thought for a while and could not come up with a solution. Then, her father breathed freely and announced, “Let's go for our lunch. A city that is far from others is close to other people.” (African Proverb)
“I agree with you, Hubby. He is not invisible. Some people know him,” his wife added and they went for their lunch.
However, Tim was disappointed when they paused on how to get across to the new President. He watched them having their lunch and hoped to hear more but they discussed other things that had nothing to do with him or the organization.
“Mttchhheeww,” he hissed and disconnected from her phone.
“Samuel will teach me shooting tactics today,” he was amused by the gesture and looked at the time before he resolved to take a nap.
The zeal to teach Tim kept the boys restless and robbed them of their siesta. With the help of the janitor, they set up a makeshift shooting field in the garden for tactical shooting.
“But we don't have rifles, shotguns, and the rest,” Gerald stated and Samuel was bashful.
“We can use wood as pistols,” he stated.
“I see. What of silhouettes, skeet, and traps?”
Samuel cracked his brain for a while and when he could not think of anything, he said, “Sgt. Young may have an idea.”
“I see.”
