63. Famous Act 4

63. Famous Act 4

Without delay, she walked into her bedroom, dressed up, and returned at once.
“Go, my dear. Don't hesitate to snatch the microphone from her. It is your responsibility as the President's secretary to anchor the event,” her mother gingered her up and she assented.
“I got you, Mom. Bye.”
“Bye.”
She left home at once and got a cab. In a few minutes, she was at the complex.
The Auxiliary Armory PLC
“Ha!” She exclaimed when she saw the uninvited guests running towards her with wet clothes.
While the bidding was going on, Tim sent a message to George.
(Come let us inspect my office.)
(Okay, Boss) He responded and inquired from the Maintenance Manager, “How far have you gone with the painting?”
“We are through. The boys concluded it before they left yesterday.”
“I see. Thank you for that, Capt. Sawyer.”
“You are welcome, Sergeant.”
He got up at once and walked up to Tim. He got out quickly and they moved. Not long after, they were in the office.
“They did a good job,” Tim said after inspecting the work.
“Yes. They are the best.”
“When is the furniture company coming?”
“Today, Boss. I will find out from them,” he promised, and dialed the company's number.
Tim focused on him while he waited for the call to connect.
“Hello. This is the White Wood Upholstery LTD. How may I help you?”
“I'm calling from the Auxiliary Armory PLC. I have been waiting for my order.”
“We are so sorry, Sir. We are trapped in the gridlock at your gate.”
George looked at the spot of the security television and discovered that it was not there.
“Hold on. Someone will meet you right away.”
“It is Okay, Sir.”
George cut the call and faced Tim for directions.
“Let's go. You don't even have an intercom to contact the gate.”
“Okay, Boss.”
They left the office and walked to the gate. Cpl Barton and Simpson saluted George and gave Tim a nod. Tim nodded in agreement and George instructed them.
“The furniture company's truck is trapped in the gridlock. Kindly clear the way for it to pass.”
“Consider it done, General,” the two Corporals promised simultaneously.
George joined Tim, who was standing aside and waiting to see the magic they would perform, because the number of people standing from the gate up to the main road was large.
“We have no choice but to use the tear gas on them,” Cpl Barton proposed.
“That is just it. We have warned them severally and they refused.”
George and Tim were not pleased with that because they would only spray on those by the gate and they would not be able to leave because of the people behind them. All the same, they watched on.
“Let's use water instead,” Cpl. Simpson suggested after he studied the situation.
“That is a better idea,” the other Corporals agreed.
Instantly, they went for the fire service rubber hose.
Unexpectedly, the pests began to experience a heavy downpour. The rubber hose could travel for more than two kilometers. Therefore, everyone was wet at the same time and ran for their lives.
Nevertheless, the soldiers at the entrance gate were wet too but it made their work easier. Laura could not believe her eyes when she saw them and did not bother to find out the source of the wetness.
As the people were running towards her, she was navigating her way towards the main gate. Just like a thunderbolt, she felt a downpour all over her body and she staggered backward.
“What?” she screamed and ran into the security post.
“Oh, Miss Dickson! You are wet,” one of the officers sympathized with her.
She used her hand to scrub the water off her face before she asked, “What is happening? Where is the water coming from?”
“I suspect that it was from the main gate.”
“They used it to ward off the unwanted guests,” another officer pointed out.
“Goodness me! What will I do?" She murmured aloud.
“Nothing. Just to go back home.”
“You cannot go into the complex like this.”
Now, she was in the middle of nowhere and undecided.
Meanwhile, the truck had moved into the premises and the soldiers and janitors began to offload the goods.
Nevertheless, Tim was interested in the television and its installation. Once he spotted the security cameras, he picked them up and looked at George.
“Let's go,” he said when their eyes met and they moved.
He was teaching him how to install the security cameras when they brought the goods into the office.
“Thank you, officers,” George appreciated.
“You are welcome.”
The staff members of the company began to assemble the furniture while Tim and George concentrated on the cameras.
The Auction Ground
The speed at which the sales were going was encouraging. Within one hour and thirty minutes, well over three hundred cars had been sold.
“I like that. Can the media team project the next car?” Stephanie asked.
“I have a proposal,” Mr. Watson stated and everyone looked at him.
“Let's hear your proposal, Mr. Watson,” Stephanie said and walked up to him.
He collected the microphone from her and said, “As you can see, time is not on our side. I would propose that we merge the cars. Like three or four cars at once. We will leave here faster than you can imagine."
Left for Stephanie, she would not mind merging ten cars at once so that she could leave at once. Howbeit, she was under authority and had to seek her Manager's permission. She looked in his direction and he acknowledged with a nod.
“That is good to hear. Those in support, say I.”
“I”
“Those against, say Nay.”
“Nay.”
“The I's have it,” she concluded in favor of 'I' even though the voice of the nays was louder.
Mr. Watson was happy because he wished to buy everything immediately.
Meanwhile, Laura was still wet and undecided but the urge to retain her position as the President's Secretary kept her going.
“Is there any way I can dry my clothes? I mean, can I have a pressing iron?”
The security guards looked at her and wondered why she was there.
“We don't have. The best thing is to go back home.”
“The event would have ended before you are through with ironing your clothes.”
“No. It won't. We have over seven hundred cars and it may take the whole day to auction them,” she clarified.
“I see.”
The female warden, who was tired of clapping for the buyers at the auction ground, strolled to the office and wondered who could be standing there with wet clothes.
“Who is this?” She asked at once.
Laura recognized the voice and turned at once. The warden saw her face, studied it, and looked away.
“What brings you, Warden?” One of the officers asked.
“I'm just strolling. I will soon go back,” she answered and took her seat.
Since she is a female like Laura and has the facilities for female offenders, the officer felt that she could help her out.
“How will you help her dry her wet clothes? She needs to be on the premises.”
“I don't know,” she replied curtly.
The pompous Laura was not cooperating either. She neither greeted her nor showed respect.
“I suggest that you stand under the sun for your clothes to dry, Miss Dickson,” an officer proposed.
“Yes. That is the only alternative for now,” the second officer stated.
She had no choice but to step outside and walk around the office.
“If this despicable Sgt. Young did not take my cars, this wouldn't have happened,” she murmured and began to stroll around.
