60. Famous Act 1
“I will look at Gen. McDonald's report on the war and get back to you, Your Excellency.”
“Kindly do that and come up with a budget as well. Time is of the essence.”
“I got it, Your Excellency.”
“Good. How is work?”
“Work is fine, Your Excellency.”
“How is your boy? He is not doing badly.”
“He is fine. You are right. He is a nice boy.”
“How did you get him?”
Tim looked at the Second in Command and his face was unreadable.
He faced the Head of State and informed him, “Gen. Hill brought them to me.”
“That is good to hear. How did you get him, Kay?”
“They were unassigned soldiers who whiled away their time at the mess hall. I felt they would be useful to him as his domestic staff.”
“That is interesting. An intelligent chap like him would have been wasting for nothing.”
“That is true, Your Excellency,” they stated simultaneously.
Then, he faced Tim and asked, “What are your plans for the South Coast?”
Tim frowned his face and answered confidently, “We will speak their language. Brig. Dale was at the office yesterday to coach my boy on war strategies.”
“Oh! You are truly prepared for them.”
“Yes, Your Excellency. One more threat from them, we will attack them before they attack us.”
“That is all right. To rub it in, prepare your boy to respond to their idle talk,” His Excellency informed him and they laughed aloud at his intention to ridicule the South Coast.
“Yes. We will tell them where to shove it,” he emphasized and the two laughed.
“You are right, Your Excellency. They don't deserve your attention,” the Second in Command declared.
“Yes. They would be pained to know that a Sergeant is talking back at them.”
“It is all right, Your Excellency. I will prepare him,” Tim admitted.
“Kindly do. By the way, how are your brothers-in-law? I got their 'thank you' messages.”
“They are good. They came for a check-up.”
“That is kind of you.”
“You have a large heart, Tim. Despite their sister's despicable behavior, you still accommodate them,” Gen. Hill pointed out.
“It is my pleasure, Your Excellencies. They would have died at the gate if I had transferred their sister's offense against them.”
“That is true. Kindly appreciate them for the message.”
“I will do that. They will be at the shooting range with me tomorrow.”
“That is nice to hear. Kindly take care of them.”
“I will, Your Excellency,” Tim said and left afterward.
In less than an hour, after getting the statistics of the fallen heroes and their family status, he drew a budget for eight thousand, two hundred soldiers. Not only that, he chose a name for the suburban - Canterbury Heroes Borough.
When he was satisfied with the proposal, he emailed it to the Head of State. Afterward, he called the Brigadier to inform him that apart from George, he would come with two Cadets from the Academy and he agreed to accommodate them.

'For to him who is joined with the living there is hope; for a living dog is better than a dead lion' (Holy Bible).
Although Laura was going through a hard time, she believed that she was better than Tim, who was killed like a dog. Despite her state of mind, she came to work and stood in her office. After Gilbert cleaned the President's office, he mopped up the dust in the Secretary's office and left. He returned after a while and stood too.
As he expected, Laura will not let him off the hook.
“Why did you not greet me this morning, Gilbert?” She asked audaciously.
Nevertheless, he seemed to be prepared for her. Without thinking twice, he answered daringly, “Because junior staff no longer have respect for senior staff members in the organization. They even fight them.”
“What! What are you trying to say?” She asked arrogantly.
“Figure it out,” he answered dismissively but she would not let go.
After staring a dagger at him, she asked, “Why did you involve yourself in the talk between me and the Corporal yesterday?”
He was surprised to hear that because he thought that his answer would humble her and cause her to shut her mouth.
All the same, he answered her, “You were disturbing the environment and I wish you to leave at once.”
The word 'disturb' infuriated her and she flared up, “What do you m…?”
She halted when the door opened and the Brigadier walked in.
“Good morning, Brig. Dale,” they greeted simultaneously.
“Good morning to you,” he responded cheerfully.
He switched guesses from one person to the other before he faced Gilbert and requested, “Kindly inform the President that I wish to see him.”
“Okay, Brigadier,” Gilbert responded and moved.
Laura moved too, but stopped when she observed that he might push her down out of excitement. He walked happily into the office and returned immediately.
“He said you can come in, Brigadier,” he held the door for him and informed him.
“Thank you, for this,” the Brigadier stated and walked in.
Gilbert shut the door after him and glared at Laura.
“Why do you wish to inform him that he has a visitor? You told me yesterday that he is not the President but a mere representative. So, he is suddenly the President?” he brought to her attention.
Laura never expected that from a mere janitor. To avoid more insults for herself, she just grinned and took it in her stride. Nevertheless, she had unfinished business with Barr. Gibson.
“Fake and greedy lawyer. I will contact the leader of the Human Rights Agency,” she said, and drafted an email for him.
Since she was idle and George was busy with the Brigadier, she had all the time to state what transpired between her and the barrister.
She concluded with, “Barr. Wentworth, you have to bring the fake lawyer to book.”
Afterward, she sent the email to him. A smile of accomplishment flickered across her face and she began to wait for his response.
Brigadier Dale had a two-hour lesson with George and it was splendid.
“I will not forget this gesture in a hurry, Brigadier. I'm most grateful,” George appreciated afterward.
Brig. Dale smiled softly and answered, “You are welcome. This is the least I can do to support a promising young man like you who has his fatherland at heart.”
“I got it,” he responded and walked him to the vestibule.
He waited for his driver to pick him up and subsequently, he visited the General Manager's office.
The General Manager's Office
Stephanie was nervous when he walked in and concluded that it was her turn to go to the guardroom. She stood up quickly from her seat and welcomed him.
“Good morning, Sgt. Young."
"Good morning, President, " the clerk stood and greeted him as well.
"I'm pleased to see you,” Stephanie said even though her heart was pounding.
George smiled warmly at them, grabbed the General Manager's door, and asked, “How is the work going, Stephanie?”
She was taken aback and responded quickly, “Work is fine, Sgt. Young.”
Meanwhile, George was already in the office, uncertain whether he had heard her or not. She breathed in and out, dabbing the sweat that was on her forehead. She looked at the clerk with an unreadable expression and sat down.
“Is that all he could ask?” She mumbled and continued with her work.
Shortly, Capt. Bolton and George walked out of the office and headed to the Tenth floor.
