56. Infamous Act 8

56. Infamous Act 8
Tim's House
He was monitoring all the activities in the office and was happy with the support given to George especially the humility of Brig. Dale.
So far, he could not tell what punishment George would give to the two erring staff members.
Meanwhile, George returned after two hours with the Brigadier and read through Stephanie's letter.
“Why can't this untrained girl do the same thing? She has been here with me and has not thought of apologizing,” he murmured.
He looked at the time and it was a few minutes before 11 AM. Instantly, he called Cpl. Barton. Tim was on and off his monitoring device because of the news.
The President's Office
Cpl. Barton arrived after a few minutes and saw Laura and Gilbert hanging out of the window. He did not answer her question the previous day when she inquired about when to refurbish the office. Not because he did not wish to but because he had no answer for her.
“Good morning, Cpl. Barton,” they greeted him simultaneously.
“Good morning,” he answered and moved.
“When are you bringing the furniture, Cpl. Barton?”
As usual, he gave her a 'silence is the best answer' attitude and walked into the President's office. Gilbert laughed inwardly at the way he ignored her.
“You sent for me, General,” he announced.
George gave him a cold look and he felt some sweat on his forehead.
“You were on duty at 1600 hours yesterday. Am I right?”
“Yes, General.”
“Why didn't you report the staff members who fought yesterday?”
“Fight?” He asked and filled George with indignation.
“Are you asking me? Are you insinuating that I am telling lies?” George blurted out
“I apologize, General. At 1600 hours, I was busy at the gate.”
Without a word, he played the footage of the scene.
“Take a look at this,” he ordered and the Corporal did.
He was dumbfounded while watching it. He furrowed his brow and squinted his eyes to get the faces of the ladies involved.
Furthermore, he recognized Laura because of her dress. At that time, he resolved that it was better to be calm and take all the berating.
However, George's question helped a lot.
“If you were busy at the gate, what about the Lance Corporals who were supposed to be patrolling that area?”
“I am not proud of this, General, but if you give me time, I will fish out the fools and deal with them accordingly.”
“Send that secretary to the guardroom for breaching the peace of the premises? Release her at 1600 hours.” He ordered and the Corporal was glad to do that.
“Consider it done, General,” he accepted and moved immediately without asking who the second person was. George laughed when he saw him angrily walk out of the office.
'She will bear the brunt of his anger,' he told himself, and faced the surveillance camera to catch some fun.
“What of the refurbish …?” she tried to ask but the Corporal interrupted and called her attention.
“For breaching the peace of the premises by fighting a colleague, you are arrested. Follow me immediately.”
She was gobsmacked at once and could not believe that anyone in that organization would dare to take her to the guardroom.
“Move or do you want me to move you?” Cpl. Barton shouted with sheer audacity, just to impress George.
“Hold on. I will inform my boss before I leave,” she declared and moved.
She hoped to apologize and ask for mercy but it was too late. Instantly, George picked up the remote control and locked his door. The Corporal watched her trying to open the door but it was locked. He was surprised, too, because the door had never been locked.
“Follow me at once or I will use the handcuffs on you.”
“Use the handcuffs, Cpl. Barton if she doesn't want to comply,” Gilbert added rudely.
Now, she had no more energy to fight but to ignore him and follow the Corporal.
“She can rebroadcast that everything will fall into shape when the President resumes from the guardroom. Stupid girl,” George cackled.
In The Premises
Unpleasant news travels fast. It was abnormal to see a soldier walking with a staff and heading towards the guardroom. Those who saw them were curious and watched to see their destination. Some whipped out their phones and began to take selfies and record the latest movie in the complex.
Nevertheless, Laura moved on without argument because she was mistaken and deserved to be punished. Likewise, she hoped to see her opponent in the female guardroom.
“Take her. The President said she would be released at sixteen zero, zero hours,” the Corporal informed the female warden.
She saluted him and accepted, “Consider it done, Corporal.”
Cpl. Barton turned and left immediately for the scene of the fight to fish out the officers on patrol.
“Where is Stephanie?” Laura asked when she got into the guardroom.
The warden ignored her question, locked the protector, and returned to her seat. Now, Laura was hysterical and pushed the protector vigorously.
Likewise, she demanded, “Why am I the only one here? Why is Stephanie not here?”
The thirty-year-old warden gave her a fiery glare and cautioned her, “You would have asked all your questions before getting here. I don't want noise, please. My duty is not to answer your questions but to lock you up.”
“This is injustice,” she stated.
Likewise, she rested her head on the wall and cried silently.
George hissed and tried to look away but the Corporal captured his interest. He was walking towards the guardroom with two handcuffed soldiers whom he suspected to be the security guards on patrol the previous day.
“They will remain here until I decide what to do to them,” he told the warden at the male guardroom just to impress George and redeem himself.
Tim's House
“Good job, George,” he complimented him after she was locked up. He watched her rant and cried helplessly. Tim would have been considerate if she were still pregnant.
He hissed before he called on Brig. Dale has to appreciate him.
Nevertheless, Brig. Dale was not familiar with his number and was skeptical of speaking to the caller. On a second thought, he picked up the call, and asked, “May I know who is on the line?”
“Good morning, Brigadier. You are speaking with General Tim Williams.”
Although he could not see him he believed that he got up before he saluted, “Good morning, General. I'm privileged and honored to hear from you.”
“It is all right. I wish to thank you for your humility in visiting my boy. I considered it a great honor.”
“Thank you for the compliment, General. I wish to do more.”
“That is good to hear. Keep coaching him. We will soon speak the language of the South Coast.”
“Arrh! You just said my mind, General.”
“It is all right. You will see more of him than me.”
“I got it, General.”
“Before I forget, I will bring him to the shooting range on Saturday.”
“That would be marvelous.”
“Okay. Bye for now.”
“Goodbye.”
After the call, he went for his lunch.
The Auxiliary Armory PLC
The unpleasant news had circulated among the staff members both junior and senior. Stephanie was scared to death. Although she had apologized she was not aware that Laura did not.
To avoid more trouble for herself, she ensured that she did the registration of the bidders with utmost caution. When it was time for lunch, she put herself together and left for the canteen with the clerk.
