54. Infamous Act 6
54. Infamous Act 6
“Yes, Boss. I am prepared.”
“I like that. You will address the soldiers tomorrow. You would have done that today but I forgot to inform you.”
George's eyes widened and Tim asked, “I thought you said that you are prepared.”
He composed himself and answered. “Yes. I'm prepared, Boss.”
“I will give you the contact of the Brigadier before you leave for work tomorrow.”
“I got it, Boss.”
“Good. Is there anything else you want me to know?”
“None, for now, Boss.”
“It's all right. Just a heads-up. My brothers are coming tomorrow.”
“Wow! I can't wait to see them.”
“Okay. You can leave.”
“Good night, Boss.”
“Good night.”
The Canterbury Defense Academy.
After the call, Gerald walked to his brother's block and searched for him.
“Guess what, Samuel,” he requested.
Samuel looked at his happy face and asked him, “What's up?”
“Just guess?”
“What will you give me if I guess rightly?”
“I will take you to my Brother-in-law's house tomorrow.”
Samuel laughed aloud and asked, “Can you even trace his house?”
“I can. Just guess.”
“Even if you can, will he permit you?”
“I will plead with him.”
“I can't guess anything. But don't tell me anything about those killers,” Samuel warned.
Gerald smiled and declared, “You guessed right because I won't tell you about them, but I will take you to my Brother-in-law's house before they come.”
“What do you mean before they come? Did you answer their calls?”
“I was only pulling your legs,” Gerald laughed and gave him the details and he was happy.
“I can't wait for tomorrow to come.”
“Even me.”
The Next Day
The Auxiliary Armory PLC
George arrived early as usual and opened his office for Gilbert to clean. While he was waiting for him to do that, he mumbled, “Let me call the Brigadier before I forget.”
Instantly, he called Brig. Fidelis Dale's number and watched it ring. As he expected, he did not pick up the call until it timed out.
“It is too early to call besides, he is not familiar with my number,” he told himself and sent a message to him immediately.
(Good morning, Brig. Fidelis Dale. I am Sgt. George Young. My boss, Gen. Tim Williams, the Third in Command and the President of the Auxiliary Armory PLC sent me to you. I will call you back after an hour if it is all right with you. Regards.)
Afterward, he walked to the window to view the premises and give Gilbert the chance to do his work. Unexpectedly, his phone rang and he looked at the caller.
No one is busier than another. People decide where to focus their attention based on their order of preference. Brig. Dale, who did not pick up his call at first, suddenly had the time to call back.
George smiled dryly and picked up the call.
“Good morning, Brig. Dale,” he greeted him and waited.
Brig. Dale was confused when he heard the voice of a young man. As a Member of the Supreme Military Council, he was present when Tim was decorated and wondered if he was speaking with a scammer. He cut the call and read through the message again.
“Does he operate through a representative?” He asked himself.
At that point, George was confused. He wondered why he had cut the call and could not decide whether to call him back or not. To his relief, the Brigadier called again and he picked up.
“Good morning, Brig. Dale,” he greeted him again.
“Good morning, Sergeant. How may I help you?”
“Thank you for asking, Brigadier. My Boss asked me to meet you.”
The Brigadier was not convinced and asked him, “Where are you?”
“I'm in the office, Brigadier.”
“Which office?”
“The Auxiliary Armory PLC.”
The response confused him more, and he simply declared, “I will get back to you.”
“Okay, Brigadier.”
After the call, Brig. Dale looked at his phone for a while and could not decide what to do.
Now, Gilbert was through with the cleaning and announced, “I'm through, Boss.”
“It is okay. Don't be too far away. Okay.”
“I got it, Boss,” he said and walked away. He was not surprised to see Laura standing by the window and waiting patiently for her office to be refurbished.
“Good morning, Miss Dickson,” he greeted her cheerfully.
The cheering on his face disappeared when she responded, “Good morning, Gilbert,” and he saw her swollen face.
“What happened to you, Miss Dickson?” He asked with concern.
“It's nothing,” she answered curtly and looked away.
Gilbert walked away, and she rushed to the toilet to examine herself.
“No wonder everybody on the bus was looking at me,” she told herself, and wore a face mask that was always in her bag.
The General Manager's Office
Stephanie was too ashamed of herself. Though she was in pain her injury was not obvious like Laura's. The moment she got into her office, she dropped her handbag and walked to Capt. Bolton's office.
“Good morning, Captain,” she greeted coldly.
The General Manager looked up and observed that she was burdened.
“Good morning, Secretary. What is troubling you?”
She looked down and explained the previous day's incident. She hardly completed her story when the General Manager interrupted and reproved her.
“You should be ashamed of yourself, Stephanie. How can you stoop so low to fight in the office?”
Stephanie was mute and could not look into his eyes.
Likewise, he continued with his chastisement, “I expected that as a senior staff, you should know how to avoid that disrespectful brat.”
“I apologize, Capt. Bolton. I promise to be careful next time.”
He looked at her remorseful face and advised, “The best you can do for yourself is to inform Sgt. Young of the fight by yourself before he finds out on his own.”
Stephanie was bewildered. She looked into the General Manager's eyes and asked him, “What will I tell him, Captain?”
“Put yourself together and tell him everything you told me or else your adversary will give him a perverted story and incite him to hate you.”
“Thank you, Captain,” she said and ran out of his office.
Instantly, his phone rang.
The President's Office
After Gilbert left, he sat in his seat and began to read books on Office Administration from his device. He came across a of the book that teaches how to handle colleagues who fight in the office.
“They will just end up in the guardroom,” he told himself, and bypassed the that was talking about what he already had the solution.
At that point, Gilbert had returned and was perched around like Laura. Stephanie opened the door and walked in. She almost ran back when she saw the empty office.
“Good morning, Laura,” she greeted her despite the age and status differences.
As the untrained girl from a black-hearted family, she refused to answer her greetings because she felt that she had offended her, and the bickering must continue.
Stephanie overlooked her and faced Gilbert and requested, “Kindly inform the President that I wish to see him.”
“Okay, Ma'am,” Gilbert said and inched toward the door.
“Don't. Are you the Secretary?” Laura tried to stop him.
Gilbert was most delighted to be useful. As though he did not hear her, he walked into the President's office and walked out immediately.
“He said you can come in,” he announced cheerfully.
