Chapter 70 I can't do that!
Chapter 70 I can't do that!
Rosie's POV
At first, he seemed startled by the meal he had prepared for me as his eyes stared at the plates.
"I cooked them," he suddenly said, as though in a trance and just jerked back to reality.
There's a plate of toasted bread in his hand as it seems his love for bread is enthralling.
Even if I didn't want to sound excited, his smile was infectious.
"What do you think princess? I organize cooking competitions with me involved in it."
"To prove what your cooking skills are?" I added, coming out of the counter feeling reeled for more.
He takes a bite of his bread and then chews, feeling the taste all at once, before responding to me.
"It's basically to win back my award," he confesses in between his teeth as he seems proud of his confession.
I scoffed at him, stunned by his words while trying so hard not to burst into laughter.
"You're a crook," I joked, chuckling at him as he snickered back.
"And you're the Luna of the crook," he responded back, and I shook my head, thrilled by his words.
My body tensed up as I stared at him, but my hand reached for Chris's favorite plate, which I intended to use, but it suddenly slipped out of my hand, landing on my feet.
I shuddered, my heart skipped a bite as I felt pain coursing through my chest. It's like something's wrong.
My eyes stared at my feet, which now had bruises, even when Damien had appeared in front of me, even when his subtle touch left me jinxed, my thoughts were drawn to my boys.
Are they safe?
"Princess," Damien calls, rising up to meet my terrified gaze. It was obvious that I wasn't moving, and he carried me in his arms to the sitting room.
He made me sit on the couch, kneel on a foot, gently at my feet, and placed my bruise on his knee, which was pointed outward, just to see the bruise clearly.
Yet not a word or reaction was felt by me. I was scared that all my mouth whispered was my boys.
I can't tell why I'm in my mind, it's a feeling, it's like they're in danger.
"Where's the first aid kit?" He questioned, taking off his shirt to wipe the blood off my skin, but I couldn't spit a word as my eyes traced him.
My lips open slightly like I'd utter a word, but it's suppressed.
"Princess, hey, what's wrong?" he asked, his hands reaching out for my cheeks and his worried eyes were settled on me.
My face turned pale as I pushed his hand away, stood up, and, as if I was being drawn by an invisible force, I scurried to Harry's room.
"Princess!" He called, and I could hear him as he chased after me. However, my mind was divided with my heart flipping inside and out.
"You're hurt, you should move!" he scolded, and he was so close that just a hand stretched would grab me, but then, I got inside the room and immediately slammed the door in his face.
Nervously, I scurried towards the bed, searching for my phone. It wasn't there which left me jinxed until I heard the buzzing of the phone.
Turning my attention to where it was, I found it on the table. Hastily, I grabbed the phone to respond to the caller.
"Harry," I whispered as soon as I answered the call. My whole body shook with tremors, my eyes sucked inside as my heart choked in my throat.
"What's wrong?" I asked, not breathing as I placed my palms on the chest.
He was yet to reply, and his sudden silence had tears brewing up in my eyes.
"Answer me, Harry, my boys, what's wrong?"
"They're fine..." He replied as his voice broke from the other end. It's as though he were hiding a pain.
"Don't you fucking lie to me!" I yelled at the top of my lungs as I was so baffled that sweat rushed to my face.
"It's..."
"Princess, I'm breaking in!" Damien's voice calls from outside, and I could hear the screwing sound that the doorknob makes from outside.
I ignored Damien, ran towards the dresser to get a coat that I'd want to wear because I'm coming to him.
I don't care if Damien is here or not, the lives of my boys matter.
My eyes were unsettled as my gaze swept the room at once.
"Rosie, I won't lie to you, they're safe with me, I swear it..."
"Switch to video call now, I want to confirm!" I bawl, struggling to put on the coat I had grasped, while my face etches with a deep concern.
"I can't do that!"
"Then you're lying!" I cried, my words trembled with emotion as shivers ran down my spine.
"Rosie, relax, so you want Damien to know about this? You've kept them hidden for so long...this movement of yours will only make him know," he murmurs, his voice sends nothing but regret and sorrow to my heart.
My chest heaves with exertion as my shaky fingers cover my eyes while tears stream down gently.
"When you have a chance, you'll meet them. I'd send you a photo... they're fine, I swear to you on that," he furthers, trying to console me, but my restless heart doesn't want to believe it.
I need to see my kids. He's scaring me more with his assertions.
My feet seem rooted to a spot, unwilling to take the step I intended to take.
I took a sharp breath, trying to calm the storm raging inside me.
"Harry," I whispered as a bitter taste rose in my throat, and my tears had already taken control of my voice.
But the phone dropped from my hand when I heard a wrecking sound from behind me.
My eyes shifted to the door, and there he was, Damien.
His eyes seemed sunken and haunted, as if the weight of his worries had physically drained the light in him.
He was panting softly, his gaze riveted on me as if he was scared he would lose me for a second.
