CHAPTER 136: FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF OUR LIVES

Tully, Jon, and the rest of the survivors had made it back to Moonville and were recuperating. It was a few days of gloominess in Moonville, as they mourned their loss at the Valley of Death.

Roweena helped most of the injured humans heal. The other witches also gave a helping hand. Roweena felt bad that she couldn't make it to the battlefield. Probably, Prince Tristan would not have been taken captive. So she thought, regrettably.

As they went about their affairs, one of the men spotted a rider on a horse heading towards them. As the rider got to the barrier, they identified that it was Mona. So they quickly informed Tully.

He went to the barrier and had it lifted, giving her access through it. She hasted towards them as she got off her horse.

Tully furrowed his brow as he saw that Olexa wasn't with her.

"What's going on Mona? Why are you alone?" Tully asked. Roweena, Jon, and the rest were there to meet her as well.

"Olexa ditched me and left for the First Kingdom," she replied.

"What?! How? When?" Tully enquired anxiously.

"Two days ago, after we met the True Bloods," she responded.

"The True Bloods? They do exist?" Roweena asked, perplexedly. In fact, they were all perplexed to hear that.

"Yes, they do. And it turns out Olexa is the granddaughter of the leader of the clan," Mona responded.

"Goodness!" Roweena exclaimed.

"So, what did they say?" Jon asked.

"They won't be getting involved with the war," Mona said.

"What?! Why not?" Tully enquired.

"Olexa begged and pleaded, but her grandfather was unflinching with his resolve. He said Olexa's mother knew the consequences of leaving the clan and getting involved with the inferiors," Mona answered.

"Inferiors? Who are the inferiors?" Commander Glenn asked.

"Apparently you werewolves who aren't True Bloods," she answered.

"What? They call us inferiors?" Commander Glenn asked rhetorically.

"So we're on our own then, huh?" Lieutenant Silka asked.

"Olexa is strong and powerful, but she can't singlehandedly save the Prince. She hasn't fully tapped into her True Blood nature. I'm afraid she might be in trouble," Mona said.

"So what do we do?" Mr Thorne asked. "Our last encounter with the enemy ended badly for us. We're still recovering. So how are we going to win this war?"

They all didn't know what to say. They all looked despondent, feeling hopeless.

Then, they heard the sound of horns being blown. It drew their attention to it. The sound was coming from outside the barrier.

As they looked, they saw a great army marching towards them. The uniform looked foreign to them. The people began panicking, fearing it was another attack.

But as Jon looked closely, he recognized them. He saw Jason, Nima, and Lord Varitas amongst the army. They were fully armed, wielding weapons the people of Moonville didn't have.

"That's the army of the Fourth Kingdom. They are allies of the Prince," Jon said to them stilling their hearts.

Tully lifted the barrier, and they proceeded to go meet the visitors.

"Lord Varitas," Jon bowed, as he approached him.

"Jon." Lord Varitas bowed slightly.

"We saw that the Prince and Olexa needed help, so we're here to offer the little help we can. I hope we're not too late?" Varitas said.

Mona looked at Tully, smiling. Finally, there was a glimmer of hope.

"This couldn't have come at a more appropriate time my lord," Jon responded.

"We truly appreciate this, but anything could be happening to either of them as we speak. It's a three-day journey to the First Kingdom. We surely can't get there in time," Mona analyzed.

"And that's why we'll portal there," Nima responded.

"Portal?" Roweena furrowed her brow. "It's going to take a lot to sustain a portal strong enough for such a multitude to go through."

"Yes, and that's why we'll have to work together. Everyone here who has magic will have to join in," Nima said.

"Alright then. No more talking, let's take the fight to those bastards," Tully said.

"Just before that, we came bearing weapons that should prove useful in the fight against those beasts," Varitas said, nodding at his son.

Jason signaled a soldier, and he brought a good number of weapons and placed them on the ground.

"These are weapons forged from a piece of the moon that the goddess blessed the ancients with, and was used a thousand years ago during the Lycan wars."

They all gasped in amazement looking at it and smiling.

"If it was useful then, it should be useful now also," Lord Varitas added.

They all armed themselves with various weapons of their choosing.

"Now, let's give them a proper fight," Lord Varitas declared, and they cheered.

The Legion attacked the Prince, Olexa, and the other prisoners who they had released. The prisoners barely stood a chance against them, as they were humans and unarmed. They were all finished off as ordered by General Klaus.

But the Prince and Olexa fought valiantly, triumphing over The Legion. Seeing that they couldn't prevail against the Prince and Olexa, he whispered to a soldier, and he quickly ran off.

As Olexa and Prince Tristan fought, they were hit from the back forcefully, causing them to fall to the ground. The attack was swift. They couldn't detect the attack from behind them.

As they turned to see who it was, they saw it was Jasmine.

"Mother," Olexa said softly. Jasmine stood, looking emotionless at the duo.

"Subdue those two by any means necessary," General Klaus ordered.

Jasmine rushed at Prince Tristan, but Olexa stepped in the way, grabbing the mother's hand.

"Mother, it's me, Olexa," Olexa said with a strained voice, as she tussled with her mother.

Jasmine overpowered Olexa, throwing her against the wall. She then turned to the Prince and rushed at him. He did his best to skillfully evade her, and got to where Olexa was. They both stood together, ready to defend themselves.

A soldier saw a strange anomaly and called the attention of General Klaus.

With the aid of a telescope, he saw what it was. His eyes widened in surprise.

"Summon all the soldiers," he instructed. The soldier nodded and ran off. A few seconds later, they all heard the blaring sounds of the war horn.

The inhabitants of the First Kingdom heard it, and all scrambled into the houses, locking it. They knew what the sound meant.

Olexa and Prince Tristan heard it as well and wondered what was going on.

Roweena and the witches opened a portal and they came straight to the First Kingdom. The soldiers of the First Kingdom set up a perimeter around the gate, and archers mounted the walls of the city.

When they were all through, Roweena and the witches closed the portal, coming through it as well. It drained a lot of energy from them, but they weren't going to miss this fight for anything in the world.

The King rushed out of his chamber to see what was going on. He saw the army that they were up against and his heart trembled a bit.

Tully stepped forward and addressed the coalition of armies.

"Today, we all are here as equals. None of us are werewolves, none of us are humans, none of us are witches. We are all just one people, who have decided to fight for our freedom. And if it'll cost us our lives so that future generations live, then so be it!"

"We fight today so that we fight no more tomorrow! Our future will be determined today! Today is going to be the first day of the rest of our lives. So, are you ready to take your freedom?!"

"Yes!" they all chorused.

"Then take your freedom!" Tully shouted.

The people shouted and began charging towards the city. As they ran Tully and the other werewolves transformed, running furiously.
