CHAPTER 122: THE ESCAPE PLAN
Prince Tristan couldn't believe what he just heard from Blossom. He was as shocked to his core, causing him to be gripped with a bit of anxiety after hearing that.
"Oh man! This is screwed up," he lamented, sighing, as he ran his fingers through his hair, trying to process what he just heard and come to terms with it. Blossom sat down, weakened, on the chair, as she sobbed, feeling so terrible.
Prince Tristan walked to his window and looked outside, surveying the environment. He didn't notice any significant changes outside of the level of security. He knew they wouldn't make it obvious to him that he was in danger.
"I am deeply, truly sorry, Prince Tristan. I'm such a terrible person," Blossom apologized.
"No no no no. You aren't a terrible person, hmm?" he said, as he quickly walked up to her and held her by her shoulders with both his hands.
"You're not a terrible person. I understand why you did what you did, okay? Just like you said some time back, it was only a matter of time before they'd catch on with the pretense," he said, consoling her, giving her an assured look as he smiled.
She weakly nodded in acknowledgment.
"These people force you to do things you'd rather not want to do, by your own volition. They are evil," he fumed.
"I can't believe my father was in on it too. But why?" she lamented.
"As much as I'd like to tell you why, I need to get out of here now," he replied as he walked to his closet.
"Please, take me with you."
Prince Tristan turned and looked at Blossom furrowing his brow.
"Take me with you," she requested. "After Juron was released, I gave him some gold and told him to leave the city immediately, and go somewhere I do not know, so I don't become a snare to him. He'll be waiting for me there."
"So how will you find him, if you do not know where he is?"
"You always find your mate, no matter where, or how far they go," she replied.
That word struck a chord in Prince Tristan's heart. He immediately remembered Olexa, and it almost brought him to tears instantaneously, seeing how Blossom was willing to sacrifice everything for love.
He quickly shook off the feeling and walked over to his door and opened it.
"My Lord," Jon greeted.
"Come in," the Prince instructed, as he looked left and right to see if anyone was there. Jon entered and saw Lady Blossom sober than usual, and the Prince seemed a bit edgy.
"What's going on, my Lord?" Jon enquired.
"They know. They know that I can walk."
Jon's eyes widened in utter shock upon hearing that.
"How?"
"I can't explain right now, but Lady Blossom had no choice in the matter. We need to leave, right away," he responded.
"You mean Lady Blossom told on you, my Lord?" Jon asked, with a note of anger towards her.
"She had no choice!" Prince Tristan defended. "Get ready, we're leaving, now."
"Okay my Lord," Jon obeyed, but he still wondered what led to the revelation.
Prince Tristan couldn't let Jon remain because he knew he'd be punished for being an accomplice. So Jon had to give up everything just like he was about to, and flee for his life.
"I'll be right back," Blossom said, exiting the chamber hastily.
Jon helped the Prince put together some of his supplies which were necessary, loading them into a bag. Prince Tristan grabbed his sword from the wall where he hung it and strapped it around him. That was a prized possession of his.
Just as they were done getting ready, lady Blossom returned, wearing a different dress that would enable her to move quicker and would hide her face, just as the cloak the Prince and Jon had on. She also brought along her personal maid, holding her bag for her.
Prince Tristan gave her a look of inquisition.
"She'll be punished if I leave her behind, please," she implored. Prince Tristan shrugged, accepting her plea.
"Let's go," he declared, and they headed to the door.
He took the lead, while the ladies followed behind him, and Jon was behind them. Seeing that the path to the secret tunnels was clear, he whispered that they go, and they all exited the room, heading there.
They got into the tunnels and made their way to the exit, with the Prince holding a torch. As they got to the exit, he discarded the torch. He surveyed the environment and saw that there were no soldiers, so they headed out, walking briskly to leave the palace.
"Hey! Stop right there!"
They were startled by the sound of that authoritative voice. But they didn't turn around.
The soldier along with three others walked towards them.
"Identify yourselves, and tell me how you got here," the soldier instructed.
"We are just mere servants. We've finished our obligations and are heading back to our homes," Jon responded.
The soldiers drew their swords as they stood behind them.
"Turn around and reveal yourselves," the soldier instructed. But they didn't. Their faces were all covered with a hood.
"I said, turn around, and reveal yourselves," he instructed again.
Prince Tristan could hear the sound of their palms clasping the hilt of the swords. He turned and nodded at Jon, and they all turned slowly.
"Good, now reveal yourselves," he said once again.
The atmosphere became tense for the ladies, as they had never been in such a situation before.
One of the soldiers analyzed them and noticed a part of the sword the Prince had strapped around him. His eyes widened in surprise when he realized who it was.
"It's the-"
Before he finished the sentence, his throat was slit. The Prince swiftly drew his sword and killed him. The other soldiers were also attacked, and killed, quietly.
"Let's get going," Prince Tristan said to the quivering ladies, and they all made a run for it.
They headed to the city, as they went to check on The Rebellion at the Juror's residence. He noticed the place was unusually quiet, with no movement around the area. He knew something was definitely off about that.
So, they made their way to the back of the residence and peeped through the window. Prince Tristan and Jon saw that The Legion were already there in the house, and had the members of The Rebellion bonded, and on their knees.
Prince Tristan used hand signals to instruct Jon on the plan of attack. He nodded when he got the plan.
Prince Tristan and Jon broke in through the wooden walls and gave the soldiers a surprise attack, fighting fiercely as they took them down. They loosed the men tied and they joined in the fight.
A soldier took aim at the Prince and threw his sword at him. Cal noticed when the attack was about to happen, and stepped in the way, pushing the Prince away. He was struck by the sword.
Prince Tristan angrily attacked the soldier, killing him, as he came back to Cal who was groaning in pain on the ground. Prince Tristan saw that the sword had pierced through his gut.
"Hey, hold still, okay? We'll get you out of here and get help," Prince Tristan said to him, and they lifted him up as they exited the house, having taken care of the soldiers in it.
As they got outside and were leaving, a swarm of soldiers surrounded them, ready to attack.
They looked around, wondering what to do.
