Chapter 22: A good cause
ANNA'S POV
"Jonas! Watch out!" I heard Aria yell and my head snapped to look at Jonas. He had started to run quickly toward Kai and he had no time to dodge the arrow.
I couldn't just watch and not do anything. In the next second, I dashed forward, almost at the speed of light.
In one second, I was already by Jonas' side and swiftly, I pushed him to the side. His body went flying to the ground but then before I could dodge the arrow, it came through, stabbing through my flesh and straight to my heart.
Blood spurted out as pain shot through my body.
"Anna!!" I heard Aria yell but then I couldn't comprehend anything anymore. The pain from the arrow was searing through my body and blood continued to spill out.
Looking down, I saw that it was a wooden arrow and not a metal one.
"Shit!" I cussed in my head, knowing that the attack was mainly for me.
"Are you okay?" I heard Aria ask as she held onto me but then I was just focused on the pain. I wanted it to stop and swiftly, I dragged the arrow out of my chest. More blood spilled out, soaking the forest floor.
I couldn't just die from just a piece of wood! I couldn't!
However, as I took out the arrow, I fell to my knees as I couldn't hold up anymore.
"She's bleeding!" Aria yelled in alarm but then as I looked at her, all I yearned for was blood. The more I bled, the more I craved blood.
Without thinking twice, I dragged Aria toward me as I couldn't control myself anymore.
"I'm sorry..." I whispered to her and in the next second, I bit into her neck and sucked in a mouthful of blood. I felt alive again and the pain in my body disappeared.
However, even though I continued to crave blood, I let go of Aria. Deep down in me, I didn't want her to die and she would if I didn't stop.
On the other hand, Kai had been captured and he was being held to the ground. As I stood up with blood-red eyes, my eyes zeroed in on him and all I was filled with was killing intent.
He attacked me and so he must die!
At this point, all eyes were on me and I could feel the apprehension in the air. My senses were heightened and it was as if I could feel what they were feeling and what they were saying..
"She's going to kill Kai!" One of the rogues yelled, in alarm.
"He deserves it! He attacked Anna and Jonas first! A person who is part of us wouldn't do that!" Another said and I was filled with joy amidst all the ravaging emotions within me. I was finally accepted.
At that thought, I decided that I had to eradicate whatever threat that was to us.
"How does it feel to be held to the ground, huh?" I asked, with a small smile as I walked toward Kai. Looking at him and seeing the blood running through his veins, I wasn't enticed at all.
It was a first! His blood looked like poison to me and I wonder why.
"You killed my brother! Don't fucking say nonsense to me! You do not deserve to live! Not a monster like you." He yelled back at me, with eyes filled with hatred and anger. His rage was evident and it was obvious he had no control.
"Well, your brother attacked me, just like you have now." I replied, in a low tone as I continued to walk toward him.
My eyes were set on him and my gaze was piercing and wicked. I saw him shiver in fear and it was obvious he was afraid of death. He looked toward Jonas who had been keeping him down.
"Please..." He said to Jonas, with a pleading look. At this point, he knew it was only Jonas who could save him.
Whatever Jonas wanted, I would do. Kai attacked him anyway.
"No, brother! She makes the decision here." I heard Jonas say and brows were raised in surprise. His words caused me a subtle feeling I cannot explain.
"You won't help me, huh?" Kai let out, through gritted teeth. It was obvious he felt like he was being betrayed. It was laughable to know that since he had attacked us first.
"I'm sorry, I can't!" I heard Jonas say, in a low tone. Looking straight at him, I knew he was sad about seeing Kai that way. I knew if Kai died, Jonas would really take a hit. However, he was leaving the whole decision-making to me, regardless of how he felt.
"Jonas..." I called out, as I was determined to let Kai go. I wouldn't want to see another death even though I was still filled with killing intent. I had to slowly suppress the most brutal and feral side of me.
I could feel my wolf take balance within me again and I inhaled deeply.
I was about to order Jonas to let him go but then Kai suddenly spoke up.
"Why don't you kill us all then? Don't be so biased, you monster!" He yelled.
I realized he wanted me to kill all the rogues.
"Why should I do that? Huh?" I asked, with raised brows.
"We all attacked you! Why does it have to be my brother who dies alone? Let's all go down!" He said as he looked straight at me. I realized that apart from being pained about his brother's death, he was also selfish.
"You all deserve to die!" He yelled at the rogues who had been on standby.
"Shut it! Kai shut it! No one was with you when you pulled your stunt. Now, you want everyone to go down with you?" Aria suddenly yelled, with a livid look. She had been so quiet all along and I never knew she could be so fierce. My likeness for her increased in multiple folds.
"Well. ." I let out.
"You bitch!" Kai yelled, straight at Aria, and in the next second, he struggled out of Jonas' grasp and went straight at Aria.
He was so fast and I knew danger was coming. Aria had saved me once and I wouldn't just let her die.
Swiftly, I dashed toward Kai as my claws lengthened and my eyes turned red.
"Forgive me, Moon Goddess." I prayed and in the next second, I took in between Aria and the fast-running Kai.
Without thinking, I slashed my sharp claws against his neck, cutting off his life force.
His blood spilled out as he fell to his knees, before me. His dying eyes were filled with horror, pain, and disbelief.
It was a good cause, however, it would hunt me for a long ass time.
