Chapter Nineteen: Answer the question
ANNA'S POV
"What did you say?" I asked as I turned around with narrowed eyes. I was both surprised and suspicious of him.
"What business do you have with the Prince?" I added. Even though he had a grudge against the King, I didn't care about him one bit.
"What business do you have with the Crown Prince as well?" He asked back and I frowned, in irritation..
"Answer the fucking question!" I yelled in anger as my eyes turned red. At the mention of the Prince, my brain had gone into an overdrive. The humiliation he had made me go through was too much and I couldn't forget it. If he had not thrown me out mercilessly, I wouldn't be wandering in the forest, aimlessly.
Hell! I might not have discovered that I was a monster, different from the members of my Pack.
"He must have done you really bad!" Jonas replied with a mocking smirk on his face as he avoided the question I had asked. Aside from being irritated, I was getting really livid. Jonas wasn't giving me the answer I wanted and his smirk got me irked in the worst way possible.
"What? Do you think so? What do you think he did, huh?" I asked, with red eyes and I couldn't even control my emotions anymore. Before I knew what was happening, I dashed toward Jonas. Without thinking twice, my claws wrapped around his neck, digging into it.
"What do you know?" I asked, through gritted teeth and red eyes as blood gushed from his neck. The sight of blood enticed me so greatly and coupled with my anger toward Jonas, I was a shadow of myself. However, deep down in my heart, I couldn't get over the fact that he could have witnessed my humiliation in the royal palace.
Was that why he had been after me? Was that why he had been seeking my death or shame or whatever it was he wanted?
"I..." Jonas tried to speak up but as the minute passed by, my anger increased in multiple folds, and my grip on his neck, tightened.
"I... Don't... Know... Anything..." He let out and I let out a sinister smirk. I couldn't just believe him that way.
"Let go of him, right now." I heard a stern voice from behind and I turned to see the rogues behind me. Their eyes were filled with so much killing intent. They had spears and swords in hand and I smirked, mockingly.
"You want him?" I asked, with a small smile. I looked back at Jonas who looked like he was hanging on his last breath. Though his blood enticed me so much, I suppressed my thirst and in the next second, I took him up and threw him toward his minions.
His body hit the forest floor with a loud thud and I could hear his bones cracking.
At this point, I knew I had to leave, or else I'd be biting down on his neck in the next second. I started to walk forward while I could hear Jonas coughing, consistently. I could imagine the pain he was in at this moment but then I didn't care.
However, his voice suddenly resounded, and I halted, "He threw us out of the Pack with no fucking reason! We were made to take on the crimes of those government officials! We need our revenge!"
I was greatly surprised that the Prince would do all that. He was useless and disabled, how could he be so vile? I wondered what he would do if he was a complete human being.
"Who did all that to you?" I asked, with a frown on my face. I just wanted to be sure it was really the Prince.
"The King!" Jonas replied and I was intrigued and then a frown settled on my face.
"But I do not have a grudge against the King. I can't help you." I replied, with a small smile on my face. I was about to leave but his words stopped me again.
"Help us fight against the King and we will bring down the Prince for your sake. The Kingdom could be ours and however, we want it to be." He said and I was a bit moved.
I hated my life so much and I craved the time I could move and live freely.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked as I was starting to have a change of mind. I turned to see Jonas already on his feet and the rogues behind him still looked alarmed.
"Join us! Lead us in the battle against the Kingdom. Your strength as a Hybrid is needed." I heard him say and my brows raised in amusement.
"You do not think I'm a monster! I killed one of your own. How do you want the other rogues to look at me?" I asked, concerned. I was already set on joining them but then there were other things to take into consideration.
"Of course, we all do think you are a monster..." He started to say and I felt like my chest was being stabbed, with a hot knife. Even Jonas thought that I was a monster.
He then continued to say, "However, your kind has gone extinct for decades. Seeing someone possess such abilities as yours is bizarre to us." He explained and I nodded, complacently.
"You say my strength is needed to help you all fight against the Kingdom. Are you sure you can keep up? I'd have to take in blood regularly. You know that, huh?" I asked, with a small and expectant smile on my face. My eyes fleeted across to the blood on his neck and I licked my lips, in hunger.
"I know that..." He said and then turned his neck toward me. The crook of his neck was visible and inviting and immediately, I dashed toward him and my fangs sank into his neck.
I relished in the taste of his blood and I felt alive once again.
