Chapter 4 The Trespasser
Ophelia's pov
I sat down on the bed, my leg trembled, my head spinning reel to reel.
I wondered why they locked me in here instead of a cage, just like they treated trespassers in a moon pack, they just assumed them as a spy and killed them terribly, am I wrong about king Logan.
I paced around the room, not finding anything amusing to do. My heart still shattered with the rejection.
My heart aches, my finger numb, as I walk to the window looking outside the room. I am on the third floor of the house and I can see everything going on outside. King Logan sat at the garden with a cup on his lip sipping on it slowly.
It's as if he noticed me. He looked up and I quickly hid away behind the curtain.
My heart skipped a quick beat, I touched my chest, and peed again but he was gone.
I frown. I don't know if it's disappointing.
I looked through the garden, but he was gone. I bit my nails. My lip trembles. Did he discover that I was peeping at him?
“Were you looking for me?” His voice suddenly came from my back, he breathed on my neck, sending a shiver to my body.
I quickly turned to him, my breath catching. My lip almost touched his. My eyes wandered around, looking everywhere but his eyes.
“Why does it look like you are caught doing something wrong,” he muttered with his brows raised.
“I….I didn't do anything wrong why do you keep me locked in here?” I stammered, my lip trembled.
He smirked, his hand brushed my wrist and it glowed, I quickly covered my wrist hiding it behind my back.
My eyes flinched. He noticed, but didn't say a word.
“Why are you here? Are you a spy?” He leaned in.
I shook my head immediately and took a few steps away from him. “No…..I am not a spy.”
“Come with me,” he grabbed my hand, dragging me out before I could speak.
My wrist glows again. Why is my wrist glowing with his touch? I frowned, but didn't argue.
We walked for a while, the servant stared, watching us, none of them murmured. He didn't care about their gaze as well and continued to watch.
I could feel the servant gaze differently from how they look at king Logan, just like how they look at me at moon pack. An outcast, a weak slave omega born to a dead omega.
My heart sank, each step I took piercing into my heart.
We didn't stop until we reached the dungeon, the slave tied up, some getting tortured, the smoke filled across the room.
My leg trembled, the smoke filled my nose. “Why are we here?”
“This is how a spy should be treated, you are lucky to be locked up in that room. Now tell me what your motive is?”
“I don't have any motive, I am just a weak omega cast out from the camp, almost getting killed by the rogue,” I blurted.
He leaned him, the corner of his lip moved into a smile. “Do you think I will believe that?”
I bit the corner of my lip, and looked away, my eyes blinked.
“You can believe whatever you choose to believe, you can as well execute me,” I spat.
He pinned his lip together, staring at me for a while observing me. I don't know what's in his mind, my heart is beating so fast.
“Do you feel it too?” He suddenly asked.
I frowned. “Feel what?”
He didn't respond and kept staring into my eyes. I wondered what he was thinking and why he was speaking in riddles.
“You are a servant from now on, you will serve me,” his voice came out sharper and colder than before.
I robbed my arm and nodded. Without another word, he turned and walked away without glancing back.
I had a deep sighed after he left, just now I almost forgot how to breathe.
Being a slave is better than being killed as a spy.
I walked down the hall, almost getting lost, but I managed to find my way back to the bedroom.
I opened the door slowly, and saw a tower figure of a man standing by the window. His back was wide, but I didn't know who it was.
I stood there. Not a word.
“There is a banquet tonight, king Logan asks you to be present.” He didn't turn his back and I could feel the coldness coming from him. “Not as a slave,” he added.
I nodded. “What am I?”
“Don't ask questions, just do as you are told, your dress will be sent to your room,” with that he walked away, I didn't even get to see his face, or his name.
I sat on the bed, my knees weakened. I don't want anyone to discover my identity. Moon packs and the Lycans are like enemies. I will just get killed If discovered.
The servant walked in with the dress and the jewellery. I stared at the dress, my heart sinking and rising at the same time. It was beautiful—too beautiful for someone like me. The fabric shimmered under the candlelight, soft gold mixed with white, like moonlight woven into silk.
“Am I supposed to wear this?” I whispered.
The maid nodded nervously. “Yes… King Logan personally chose it.”
My breath hitched. He chose it? For me?
Why?
I touched the gown carefully, scared I would stain it with my hands.
“It looks… expensive,” I muttered under my breath.
The maid smiled faintly, unsure. “Everything for tonight is important. A lot of nobles are coming. You must not embarrass the king.”
My chest tightened. “I… I don’t know how to act at a banquet.”
“You will learn,” she said quickly. “Just follow his lead.”
His lead? I swallowed hard.
She helped me wash and fix my hair, and as she touched my wrist, the mark glowed faintly again. I snatched my hand back immediately.
She frowned. “My lady… are you hurt?”
“No!” I said too fast. “I’m fine. It’s nothing.”
Does my hand now glow with everyone's touch, I hid it behind.
The glow faded slowly, as if hiding itself.
When the maid finished, I stood there, staring at my reflection in the small mirror on the table.
I didn’t recognize myself.
The torn, dirty omega from the Moon Pack was gone. This girl looked… almost noble. But fear filled my chest again. What if they discover who I am? What if someone from the Moon Pack is here?
My heart skipped painfully.
“Time to go,” the maid whispered.
“Can I have a bracelet?”
She stared at me for a while. Curious. But she nodded and took out a bracelet from a box, the bracelet shined like a star, my eyes sparkled.
“What's this?” I asked as I held it, my hand robbed it. I have never seen anything like this before.
“King Logan asked me to give this to you if you ask for it.” She reached out for my hand, but I quickly pulled away.
“I will do it myself,” I carefully put on the bracelet, even if my hand glows no one will notice.
King Logan picked this out for me. I touch the bracelet on my wrist. He noticed, but ignored.
“Let's go,” she cut in through my thoughts.
I took a deep breath, gathered the skirt in my hand, and walked out.
The hallways were quiet, only the sound of my footsteps echoing.
And then he called my name.
“Ophelia.”
I froze. That voice.
King Logan walked toward me, his eyes scanning me from head to toe. His jaw tensed. For a moment, he just stared, breathing slow, deep… almost like he was struggling with something inside.
“Come,” he said softly, stepping closer. “Stay close to me tonight.”
I nodded, my throat dry. His hand brushed mine lightly, and my wrist burned again, but stronger this time.
He paused. His eyes narrowed slightly… like he felt it too.
But he said nothing. He ignores again, his eyes shifted away from my wrist.
He offered his arm, and even though my body trembled, I placed my hand on it.
The warmth between us sparked again. Dangerous, powerful and unmistakable. He felt it too.
We walked toward the grand hall together.
And deep down… I knew nothing would remain the same after tonight.
Immediately we stepped in I saw their cold gaze, their threatening stares, their whispers.
“Is she even worthy to be next to him?”
“She is just a trespasser, a spy, what right did she have to be standing next to him,” another one said.
My grip tightened on his arm. My gaze low, my face burning up.
“Look at her, she thinks she is special just by wearing diamonds.”
My chest tightened, and my lip pinned together, my lip trembled.
He suddenly grabbed my hand. “Why are you trembling?” His lip curved into an unshakable smile.
I feel it, it is fake, he doesn't want this. It is a pretence.
