SHOLA. was smiling while approaches Alexis.
Alexis immediately got out of his car.
"Good morning," Shola greeted him first.
Alexis smiled at her." Good morning too." He hugged her.
"Did you sleep in your car? Or did you just arrive here?" she still asked.
"Hmmm!" Alexis just grunted.
"Why? And wait, didn't we talk last night? I waited for you."
"Hmmm, sorry, my love, I forgot about it; I've been doing so much at the office."
"Hmmm, why did you sleep outside? You can go inside the house."
"I'm okay outside to watch over you, because you're alone there in your house. I'm your night watchman, my love. Maybe if I go inside, hmmm, you know we can talk about that; maybe it will happen there."
"But, Alexis, you shouldn't have done that; I can take care of myself."
"Yes, I know, but it's different now that I'm here."
"Alright, aren't you going home yet?"
"No, where are you going? Why are you out in the morning?"
"I'm just going to buy breakfast," she had to tell him.
"Is that so? Let's eat breakfast first."
Shola did nothing but go with him.
While they were on the road, there were patrol cars going to Fernan Morale's house.
"Alexis, why are there so many of them?" She pointed to the patrol cars, but Shola knew why she pretended to ask.
"I don't even know, Shola."
"You can follow them; you know you're a police officer."
"Aren't we going to eat?"
"Later."
Alexis was surprised, but she didn't show it to her. Okay, if that's what you want."
He made a U-turn to follow the police patrol cars.
When they arrived, they saw the body of the congressman being loaded into the ambulance.
"Who's that?" Alexis asked after getting closer.
"Sir, it's Congressman."
Alexis was speechless as he looked at Shola, and her face was blank. He thinks she doesn't know what happens; she's so innocent. But he knows the truth; now he knows that her innocent look is only on the outside because inside she's a monster. Damnit!" He said he was crazy because what was on his mind was calling her a monster.
"Captain Alexis, do something about it! Look at the Congressman, who's next to me!" Fernan said while approaching Alexis.
"Why you, sir? Did you do something related to the killer?" Alexis said directly to Fernan.
He didn't answer immediately; he looked at Shola and said, No, no!"
"Then, sir, don't be afraid if you haven't done anything wrong."
"I'm not afraid, Alexis. Never in my life have I felt afraid of anyone, you know that!"
"I know, Sir."
"So, what is your finding in this case?"
"I have begun, sir."
"Have you found out anything?"
Before Alexis answered, he looked at Shola. Can he tell Fernan what he found out?
Shola felt nervous; she knows there is something when Alexis looks at her. Does he know something?"
"Soon, Sir!"
Shola was relieved to hear this.
"Good, I want you to find out fast, Alexis. Look, every night that killer kills someone, but when I find out who he is, I will deal with it, he or she!" Fernan looked at Shola with emphasis on the last word.
"Yes, we will calculate, Fernan Morale; soon you will be able to bury that family together so that you are complete like you were to my family." Shola also met his gaze.
The congressman's body was brought to the morgue, and Alexis looked into the cause of his death.
Same with Erica, the mayor's son, and others. Everyone who is killed has a connection to what happened to the Monticellos back then. It's clear that everything for Alexis is revenge. After looking at it, he needed to talk to Shola. And He had to make Shola admit that it was her who was killing them.
"Where do you want to eat, Shola?" he asked when they were in the car.
"It's up to you, Alexis."
"We'll just buy food and eat my house."
"If that's what you want, go ahead."
They passed by a fast-food restaurant. They take out what they want to eat.
While Alexis was fixing the food they bought on the table, he kept looking at the girl. This is my chance, Shola. I hope you tell me the truth."
Shola realized that her boyfriend had been looking at her for a while. Alexis, is there a problem?" he asked.
"Huh? Why did you say that, Shola?"
"Because you keep looking at me, like you want to say something."
"Okay, I'll say it, but let's eat first; come on."
Shola came immediately. There was silence between them as they ate, as if there was tension between the two of them. When they finished eating, they put away their food; they were still speechless.
"Coffee, do you want?" Alexis broke their silence.
"Okay, thank you."
Alexis first brewed their coffee after inviting her to the living room.
Alexis need to tell her what he find out. He took a deep breath first so he could say what he should.
"The depth, huh?" Shola commented.
"Yes, I don't know how to start what I tell you, Shola."
"Do you think I'm the one who killing, Alexis?" She has preceded it.
"Is that you?"
"Do you think I can kill anyone, Alexis?"
Alexis sighed again."Shola, please, enough!"
"Enough! I'm not done yet!"
"So, it's you?"
"You know, don't you? What are you going to do to me? Arrest and then jail? You can do this to me, Alexis, because you're a police officer!"
"You think I can do this to you, Shola? I love you so much!"
Shola grabbed his palm."Do the right thing, Alexis. But not yet; I will finish him first."
"Shola, please, I'm begging you; you love me, don't you?"
She nodded."Yes, I love you. But my heart knows what to do."
"Shola, forgive him for what he has done. And let the law punish him."
Shola stood up."He hold the law, Alexis. Death is what someone like him deserves!"
"If he is guilty, why did you feel sorry for his two children?"
"It should be fair! He did this to my sister and my older brothers; isn't that enough?"
"What should I said or done to you, Shola? To stop you?"
"Just one thing, Alexis. Kill me because I won't let you down until I finish Fernan Morela!"
Alexis stood where Shola pointed.
"Why would I do that? I love you, but if I could hold you in my arms, that's what I would do." He approached her Then hugged.
"Alexis?"
"I love you so much, Shola. Remember that!" suddenly Alexis grabbed her lips.
Shola closes her eyes to savor Alexis kiss. She feels how much he loves her.
