Plan B
Damien Ashford was in his luxurious car, lost in thought as he watched the New York landscape pass by the windows. The driver, accustomed to his boss's silence, navigated the city streets skillfully, keeping the vehicle impeccable.
Finally, the driver parked the car in the Rikers Island Correctional Center parking lot, a prison located in New York City where prisoners awaited trial, including those accused of fraud. Damien got out of the car and headed to the visitation room, where he waited for a few minutes until Amelia Turner, a woman with a serious and determined expression, appeared.
Amelia looked at Damien with an expressionless face and asked directly, “What are you doing here?”
Damien took a deep breath before replying, “Amelia, you were right about Victoria. I found out she's been impersonating other people and investigating my company's business partners.”
Amelia furrowed her brow and asked, “Investigating? What do you mean?”
With a serious air, Damien admitted the gravity of the situation. “I found out that Victoria, she's been impersonating others, trying to get close to my business partners.”
Amelia's eyes widened at the revelation. “And you think I'm here because of Victoria?” she asked, surprised.
Damien nodded. “Yes, I'm certain you're in jail because of her involvement.”
Faced with Damien's contemplation, Amelia understood the gravity of the situation. “What do you plan to do?” she inquired, anxious.
Damien let out a heavy sigh. “I can't do anything. I have an issue with Towsand, the partners found out about the embezzlement, and Stefano refused to help me. I need Victoria.”
Amelia, with a keen look, understood the complexity of the situation. “It's time for Plan B,” she affirmed, suggesting a change in strategy.
Damien agreed with a nod. “Yes, it seems so,” he said, reflecting on the implications of his dilemmas.

Victoria Ashford's room was a private sanctuary, a subtle blend of elegance and sophistication. Heavy curtains filtered the soft light that poured into the space, highlighting the refined furniture and personal touches that denoted the personality of the woman who inhabited it. While Damien, her husband, set out to resolve the complicated matters hovering over his life, Victoria stayed at home not to rest but to advance her own secret mission.
Victoria made her way to her room, determined to continue the investigation she had started. Her laptop rested on the polished desk, ready to be used as a tool to unearth the secrets that could free Damien from the entanglements holding him back. She sat with a determined expression, her agile fingers gliding over the keyboard as she delved into the underworld of her husband's business.
Victoria's objective was clear: to identify other partners of Damien who might be involved in the intricate webs of fraud threatening not only the Ashford family fortune but also Damien's reputation. She compiled a list of names, each entry representing a piece in the puzzle she was about to assemble.
As she investigated, Victoria's mind was alert and sharp. The connection with each name she researched was meticulously analyzed, evaluating not only the financial transactions but also the relationships and power plays permeating the business world.
In this moment of intense concentration, Victoria's maid, a discreet figure gracefully moving through the mansion's corridors, interrupted her thoughts. The door opened softly, and the maid announced the presence of an unexpected visitor.
“Mrs. Ashford, Mr. Ethan Blackwood is here to see you,” the maid informed with a discreet bow.
Surprise painted Victoria's face. Ethan Blackwood, Damien's business rival, the man who, by a strange twist of fate, was also her husband. A disconcerting sensation enveloped her, but she suppressed any sign of uncertainty. The investigation was ongoing, and she couldn’t afford to veer off course.
“Let him in,” Victoria responded, quickly stowing her laptop and concealing traces of her research. The maid withdrew, and Victoria awaited Ethan's entrance.
The rival entered with a magnetic presence, his clothes immaculate and his gaze piercing. Their eyes met, and a spark of recognition and something more passed between them. They were unexpected allies in a dangerous game.
“Victoria,” greeted Ethan, his voice soft but containing a complexity of emotions.
“Ethan,” she replied, maintaining composure, though a whirlwind of feelings hit her like a wave. The room became a silent battleground, where unspoken words reverberated in the air.
“What are you doing here?” Victoria asked, curious about the surprise visit.
Ethan paused before replying. “I heard about Damien's complications. I thought we could have an open conversation about how this affects our mutual interests.”
Victoria's eyes studied Ethan intensely. There was palpable tension between them, not just due to their business rivalries, but something deeper, something she couldn't ignore.
“I'm listening,” said Victoria.
“I can't ignore how I feel about you anymore,” Ethan continued. “I've separated from Michelle because I can't stop thinking about you. What happened between us wasn't just a casual encounter. It's deeper than that. And I know you feel the same.”
Silence hung between them, heavy with meaning. Victoria knew her emotions for Ethan were real, but she also knew she couldn't simply leave behind her marriage with Damien, especially now that she was so close to avenging her husband.
“Ethan,” Victoria began, “I can't just leave Damien. There's much more going on than you can imagine.”
Ethan gazed at her, understanding evident in his eyes. “I know, Victoria. I just want you to know that I'm willing to face whatever it takes, as long as you're willing to share them with me.”
Ethan's offer was tempting, but the complexity of Victoria's situation left her hesitant. She found herself in an emotional dilemma, pressed on all sides.
“I need time,” she murmured, feeling overwhelmed. “Time to understand things and figure out what's right.”
Ethan nodded, seeming to accept her words. “That's okay, Victoria. I'll wait. And I'll do more than that, I'll help you in this vengeance. However, when all this is over, I want you to move forward with me.”
