Chapter 47 Her Kings

Chapter 47 Her Kings
Rhea POV

Rhett's words hung in the air, and the tent flap parted almost immediately. Korr stepped in first. His massive frame filled the entrance, and his auburn-gold hair caught the firelight like molten metal. Nox followed, sleek and silent, his black hair falling over eyes that shifted from crimson to silver as they landed on me.

They both stopped short.

I lay sprawled across the furs, utterly spent, with cum still glistening on my breasts and leaking slowly from between my thighs. My body hummed with satisfaction, but exhaustion pulled at every limb. I wanted more...I always wanted more...but my eyes were heavy, and my muscles trembled from the intensity of what Rhett had just done to me.

Korr's bronze gaze raked over me, and flames flickered in his pupils. Nox's expression remained controlled, but his throat worked as he swallowed.

Rhett lounged beside me, with one arm propped behind his head, utterly smug. "Told you. Not subtle."

I managed a tired smile, pushing myself up on my elbows. "You two going to stand there all night, or are you coming in?"

Nox recovered first, stepping closer with that fluid grace of his. "You are... exquisite," he said softly.
"Exhausted, yet still radiant."

Korr crossed his arms, and his voice was low and rough. "We would each like our private turn with you, little queen. When you are ready."

The offer sent a fresh spark through me, but my body protested. I sighed, flopping back onto the furs. "Now I'm all revved up for nothing."

Korr chuckled, and the sound was warm and rumbling. "I can help with that. My dragon's purr is meant to soothe our mates. Calms the nerves, eases them into sleep. Not sure if it will work since we are not bonded yet."

I perked up at that, and my curiosity overrode the fatigue for a moment. I hopped off the bed, my legs a little wobbly, and headed to the copper basin in the corner. The cool water felt heavenly as I washed away the evidence of Rhett's claim, though I could still feel him inside me.

I knew they were watching. I could feel their eyes on my back, my ass, and the sway of my hips as I moved. When I glanced over my shoulder, both were staring openly.

Nox whispered, almost to himself, "I have seen thousands of naked women."

I shot him a glare over my shoulder. "Cool story, bro."

His pale cheeks actually flushed. "I meant no disrespect, Rhea. Only that you are unlike any I have ever seen."

I winked, turning to face them fully, with water dripping down my skin. "Well, I'm a fucking handful too. Don't forget it."

To emphasize the point, I slapped my own ass, and the crack echoed in the tent. Both men groaned, low and involuntary.

Rhett laughed from the bed. "Told you."

I finished washing, slipped into a soft robe that did absolutely nothing to hide my curves, and climbed back into the furs. I patted the space beside me.

"Come purr me to sleep, dragon man."

Korr moved immediately, shedding his shirt as he approached. Nox hesitated, then followed.

I grinned at him. "You can all come to bed. Hell. Let's not make this awkward."

Rhett shifted to make room, pulling me against his chest. Korr settled on my other side, and his massive body was as warm as a damn furnace. Nox took the foot of the bed, close enough to touch.

Korr's chest began to rumble. It was a deep, resonant purr that vibrated through his ribs and into mine where we touched. It was like lying against a living engine, soothing and powerful all at once.

I sighed, melting into it. "That's nice."

Nox reached out, and brushed a strand of hair from my face. "Sleep, Rhea. We will be here when you wake."

Rhett pressed a kiss to my temple. "And then," he murmured, "maybe we'll see about those private turns."

I smiled, with my eyes already drifting shut, surrounded by heat and safety and the promise of more.

"Good," I whispered. "I plan to be very awake."

King Korr POV

She slept against my chest as if she belonged there.

The realization struck me with unsettling force.

Rhea’s face was warm where it rested over my heart, and her breathing was slow and even now, four rhythms braided into one strange cadence beneath her skin. Fire lingered in her, quieted but never gone, a living presence that my dragon watched with rapt fascination.

Vaelrith vibrated beneath my ribs, barely contained.

"Our Mate," he whispered reverently. "She is ours. Finally. A flame worthy of flame."

I did not silence him.

Instead, I kept still, allowing my chest to rumble in a low, controlled purr. Not instinct. Not dominance. Intention. I felt her relax further, and her fingers curled faintly in the fur beneath us as sleep claimed her fully.

Only when I was certain did I move.

My hand rose to her face, and my thumb traced the curve of her cheek with care that would have shocked my council. Her skin was warm and alive, marked by power that did not belong to any one realm.

“She takes this far too well for a mortal,” I murmured.

Rhett’s quiet laugh answered me from the other side of the bed. “You didn’t see her die.”

My gaze sharpened. “Explain.”

“I thought I lost her,” he said softly. “She was cold. Gone. My wolf was tearing itself apart. And then she rose.”

Vaelrith stilled completely.

“Fire,” Rhett continued. “Purple. Wings. Power that flattened stone and dropped me to my knees. She came back wrong in the best way. A Phoenix who could burn the world down if she chose.”

I exhaled slowly, as understanding settled into my bones. “And she did not.”

“No,” Rhett said. “She chose to live.”

From the shadows near the foot of the bed, Nox watched her with a stillness that spoke of old hunger and older restraint. “She chooses,” he murmured. “That is what terrifies them.”

Kingly courts. Councils. Thrones built on fear and obedience.

“They will demand explanations,” I said.

“They will demand control,” Rhett answered.

“They will demand blood,” I added.

Nox’s voice dropped, and he seemed thoughtful. “Perhaps it is time they stop demanding.”

The idea lingered between us, dangerous and electric.
Change meant war. But stagnation meant rot.

I looked down at her again, at the way fire and softness coexisted without tearing her apart. At the impossible balance she embodied simply by breathing.

“She will not submit,” I said quietly.

Rhett smiled. “No. She fucking won’t.”

Vaelrith rumbled with approval. "Good."

I shifted carefully, settling closer, allowing the warmth of my body to shield her from the cooling night. Nox moved as well, and his shadows folded into place without claim or challenge.

Three kings. One sleeping Phoenix. For the first time in centuries, the future did not feel inevitable. It felt… possible.

And as her breathing deepened, I remained awake, guarding a flame that could either end the world or finally remake it.

Rhea POV

The dream came like heat under my skin. Not fire. Not pain. Presence.

I stood in a place that wasn’t a place at all, just light and shadow folded together. The air shimmered, alive with power older than language. Shapes moved at the edges of my vision, too large to look at directly, and too heavy with meaning.

"Stay the course."

The voices weren’t loud. They didn’t need to be. They pressed into me, steady and inevitable.

"You will be tested."

I swallowed, and clenched my fists at my sides. “I already have been.”

"You will be tried."

“I know.”

"You must be strong."

That one settled deeper. It was not a command, but a reminder. Like they already knew I would be.

The light shifted, warming, then fading.

"Remain on your path, Phoenix."

I gasped awake.

Sunlight spilled into the tent in pale gold stripes, catching on fur and fabric and bare skin. Morning birdsong filtered through the canvas, impossibly normal after gods and destiny and fire.

I lay there for a second, blinking.

Rhett stood near the basin, freshly washed. His hair was damp, and he had his sleeves rolled up. He was whistling. Actually whistling. His shirt was only half-laced, his muscles were relaxed, and he was looking infuriatingly content and unfairly attractive.

A sound rumbled out of me before I could stop it.

Low, and absolutely fucking feral. I froze.

Then I laughed, dropping my face into my hands. “Wow. Okay. That just came out of me.”

Rhett glanced over, and his grin was slow and dangerous. “Good morning to you too.”

“Gods,” I muttered. “Becoming a Phoenix is like turning into an animal.”

A deep sound answered behind me. Korr’s arm tightened around my waist, pulling me back against his chest. His growl was low and approving. “I like it.”

I swatted at him, still laughing. “You would.”

Movement at the foot of the bed drew my attention.

Nox stretched, unhurried. His eyes were still heavy with sleep. He yawned and then went very still, and his gaze fixed on my neck with an intensity that made my pulse skip.

I tilted my head. “Do you drink blood?”

The silence that followed was almost impressive. His pale cheeks colored faintly. Korr snorted. Rhett laughed outright.

“Yes,” Nox said, clearing his throat. “I do.”

I smiled, slow and curious. “Want to drink mine?”

He choked. Actually choked. Korr burst out laughing. Rhett had to turn away.

Nox stared at me like I’d just suggested we set the temple on fire. “Very much so, Rhea,” he said carefully.

I shrugged. “Then let’s not make it weird.”

Before anyone could comment, I shifted closer, nudging Korr aside with a playful shove and leaning into Nox’s arms. I tipped my head to the side, offering my neck openly.

He stiffened.

“You would offer this freely,” he said quietly, “after I once took what was not offered?”

I glanced back at him. “That was then. This is now.” I smiled. “Shit happens. Let it go, yeah?”

Something broke into a soft, disbelieving laugh in his chest.

“You are impossible,” he murmured.

“Frequently,” I agreed.

His hand came up, steady but hesitant, and his fingers were warm against my skin. I felt his breath first, cool and careful, before a brief, sharp sensation followed.

The moment his fangs pierced my skin, something inside me unraveled. Not pain. Not fear.

Heat. Sooo much heat.

It spread fast, curling low in my belly and climbing my spine like wildfire finding oxygen. My knees weakened, and I had to brace my hands against Nox’s shoulders. My breath hitched as his mouth sealed over the wound, warm and reverent.

“Oh,” I whispered, startled by the sound that came out of me. Soft...and wanting.

He fed slowly, and deliberately, like he was savoring more than just blood. Every pull sent a ripple through me, each swallow dragging a low, needy thrum out of my chest. My heartbeats went wild, all four of them racing and tangling until I couldn’t tell where one ended and another began.

My body reacted without permission. My thighs pressed together. My back arched. A low growl slipped free before I could stop it, vibrating straight through him.

Nox stiffened. His hands tightened at my waist, and his breath faltered just enough to tell me he felt it too. When he finally pulled back, it was with visible effort.

Blood smeared his lips. His fangs were still out. His eyes were blown wide and silver-bright.

He smiled. Slow, dark, and satisfied. I didn’t give myself time to think. I surged forward, climbing into his lap, with my knees bracketing his hips, and my hands gripping his shoulders as another growl tore out of me. Desire slammed through me.

“Out,” I snapped, not even looking away from him. “Both of you. Now.”
