FINAL CHAPTER - A New Life

The tweeting of birds, a familiar honey scent and the comfort of a bed slowly brought me back to life.

My eyes faintly opened to a room illuminated by the sun rays coming from the window above me. The bed was different. It was larger than mine and the bed sheets were a spotless design of velvet green. It was exactly in sync with the color of the large room. A spotless shade of green. I didn't know this room, yet it felt so welcoming and peaceful.

Series of sparks emanated from my bare chest and spiraled across the rest of my body. It forced me to look down and there I saw her pretty fingers. Laying peacefully on my tattoo. My eyes briskly darted to my side, and there she was, my beautiful mate staring at me deeply.

I turned towards her and my hand wrapped across her bare waist. I didn't care as to how we were naked or how I arrived here, in her room. All I cared for was her. She was safe and so was I. Even though she didn't wear a smile but just tears that streamed her cheeks.

"What happened?" I asked as I gently wiped her tears off with my thumb.

"You fainted." She mumbled. "You were barely healing from your injuries and so I had to try an old trick again." She pursed her lips as tears soaked her eyes again.

"Share your pain while my Wolf healed you."

I inched closer to her, so our foreheads touched.

"I'm so sorry." I mumbled. "For everything, for making you go through so much pain and agony for an undeserving mate like me."

She held my cheek.

"Don't ever say that again, Kev. You're my perfect mate. I love you."

Her warm breaths swarmed across my cheeks and it made me close the distance between us. Her breasts were rocking against my chest and our legs were intertwined beneath the sheets.

"I love you too." I whispered. "So much."

"Then promise me, promise me never to be a fool and just die for nothing!" She cried and I smiled. "Promise me you won't ever leave your mate in a painful way. Promise me Kev."

"I promise." I whispered and her sobbing came to a gradual end. We remained there, our eyes closed for minutes, enjoying each other's embrace.

"Did you kill him?" I asked.

"I couldn't." She answered softly. I almost heaved a sigh of relief until she spoke again.

"We're waiting for the Lycan's order."

"We're waiting for you Kev." She added as she set her gaze upon me. And surprisingly, for the first time in my life, I didn't want to run away from this responsibility. My body, soul and spirit easily accepted this title.

She pulled away from my embrace to get a scroll by her bed side. And with uncertainties blooming on her face, she handed them to me. To which I gracefully collected. A golden scroll with archaic writings I barely understood.

"My Father wanted you to have this." She said while I sat up, letting my hands open this Scroll. It was a letter, an attestation of The Lycan, handing over his position to me.

"I know you're not ready and not inclined but—"

"I accept." I cut her off with an assuring smile. Her eyes exclaimed for a brief moment before a blush dawned on her cheek. "I, Kevin Manchester, accepts and hereby assumes the titular position of the Lycan."

"B-but..." She stammered.

"But what? My love."

"It means you're the Alpha of Alphas now, and that you have to forfeit your position at Greenville just to rule here. It means sacrificing everything you have in Greenville."

I heaved a sigh. "I know and I'm ready to do that. Gabriel will be the new Alpha and I'll have to come here. This is my destiny Claire. I can't run away from it."

"But I don't want that." She said in a worried fashion.

"You don't want me to be the Lycan?" I asked in the same mannerism too.

"No! I want you to be the Lycan but not here. Not here at Moonsville. I want us to go home to Greenville where you and I truly belong. It's not a necessary rule that the Lycan must live in Moonsville." She explained and then inched closer, running her fingers across my forearm tribal tattoo with a smile of admiration.

"I want your child to grow up in her Father's Pack. To be welcomed by its beautiful people. I want her to see the beautiful garden of your Pack House. I want us to tell her the tales of how we fell in love, our favorite spot, the battles we fought, everything. Greenville is our home, and you know it."

"But what about here, your brother can't rule, and you don't wanna either. We can't also deject Moonsville. I want our child to know where her mother lived in too." I said, dearly hoping she had a solution for that.

"Beta Conrad will be the new Alpha of Moonsville and us leaving doesn't mean we're deserting Moonsville. Of course, we'll visit here occasionally." She held my cheek, and I couldn't help but smile.

"Wait," I frowned, "you want our child to be a girl?"

"Yes, I don't think any of us can bear to see two of you in the house." She laughed while I rolled my eyes.

"I had a dream," I pursed my lips as my eyes trailed to her fingers.

"we had twins. A boy and a girl." I bit my lower lip softly from just reliving that dream again.

She blushed. "Well, let's just pray the moon goddess answers to this wish of ours."

"She will, I know it."

She blushed again. I let my hand trail to her stomach and in a divine way I could feel two heartbeats. My smile deepened and my heart fluttered while she placed her hand on mine too.

"I think the moon goddess is giving our wish a trial." She said softly yet with so much joy and happiness blooming in her tone.

"Yes." I said gently. "I have a story to tell them,"

"Really?" She chuckled.

I nodded with my eyes still retained on her stomach. I heaved a light sigh before letting the words roll out.

"Far in the west, deep in the forests, amongst the beautiful Green valley lies the one and only Greenville Pack. A place filled with so many memories, joy, happiness, A place, where I found love." My lips pursed while my eyes moved up to hers. Enchanted by her beautiful honey eyes that beheld tiny traces of tears.

"A place, where I found my redemption. A place, called home."

As I finished those words, a tear trickled across her cheek. A tear of joy and without further thoughts,

I held her jaw gently while my eyes fell on her lips. Our heads inched closer till our lips locked against each other.

A slow kiss devoid of the fight for domination. A kiss intertwined with passion and the promise of love.

My past wasn't perfect, yet life gave me another chance. I didn't care what the future beheld for me, but I was going to live my present,

Being a good man, a good friend, a good son, a good father, a good husband and above all,

A good Alpha.
