Chapter 27
"Now you look perfect." Said Gabriel as he stood by my side, admiring my blazing suit in front of the full-length mirror.
I wore an anxious smile even though I hated the way my hair was streamlined backwards. I preferred my usual style, but Gabriel wouldn't let me. Now I looked like a corporate businessman.
"I'm scared." I didn't know when those words rolled out, but I needed his advice regardless.
"About what?"
"That I may end up ruining everything or that I might bore her. This is my first time doing something like this." I responded, my eyes still mirroring my reflection.
"Kevin." He patted my back gently, somewhat in a fatherly manner. "You'll do just fine. Just follow your heart or let Lupus take the reins. I know him to be more reasonable."
I rolled my eyes while Lupus seemed to agree.
"I'll do just fine." I whispered, trying to allay my anxieties.
"Come on, you don't wanna be late." He gently pushed me towards the door. "And don't forget to give me the full gist later." He toned in a cocky manner before helping himself to the stairs. I gulped down my saliva, adjusting my jacket before pacing solemnly to her room. As I arrived the door, I immediately felt the usual exciting sparks course through my body like blood.
I exchanged heavy breaths with the warm air around me before knocking gently. The door quietly opened and if anyone had told me that my mouth was going to be wide open or my eyes exclaiming, I would have outrightly denied.
She's beautiful I know but seeing her in this long red deep V-neck gown with high slit changed everything. She complemented it with a simple silver necklace and heels. Her makeup was simple, just the usual mascara, powder, and lip gloss but it still made her face glow like the moon. She didn't let her hair sway like the usuals, rather she styled them in a neat braid. She was the moon goddess of my life and I couldn't help but gawk at her chest.
"Do I look bad?" Her voice jerked me back to reality. I cleared my throat while a bright smile spread on my lips.
"You look beautiful as always." I said but she frowned.
"Is that all you're gonna say?" She arched her eyebrow upwards and it was my turn to frown. "I spent an hour to look this elegant."
"An hour and thirty." I corrected.
"Whatever."
"What else do you want me to say?" I asked whilst wondering where I had gone wrong. We hadn't even left yet.
"At least don't give me some lazy compliment." She chirped and was about to slam the door, but I quickly held her back.
"You look Ravishing, Claire." I started not even sure I knew where I was going. "Your hair looks perfect; your dress is absolutely dazzling and your skin glows just like the moo—" I stuttered when she started laughing. I stared confusingly, wondering if I had gone wrong again.
"It's enough Kevin." She muttered with laughter still minting in her words. "I just wanted to tease you." She smiled and I heaved a sigh of relief.
"Very funny." I eyed her but she inched closer to me, her cologne swarming around me like butterflies.
"Do you know, I love every version of you." She whispered while her hands went to my hair. Ruffling and brushing them till it fell to my natural hair style. A side part while the other softly brushing my eyebrow.
"But I love this more. You look perfect, like a hot bad boy you are." She beamed while my heart leaped for joy. I wasn't inclined with Gabriel's idea and thankfully my mate wasn't in support too.
"It was Gabriel's idea." I confessed as I stared deep into those beautiful honey eyes.
"I figured." She whispered. "Shall we?"
I grinned before intertwining my left arm with her right.
"Yes, Milady." I answered before we proceeded. Down the stairs decorated with beautiful dim lights. Courtesy of my Beta. As we arrived outdoors, we were greeted by blissful warm air of Greenville. My guards had their heads all bowed as we proceeded to a Black Mercedes. I escorted her to her seat first before entering the vehicle.
Our journey to Chef McCarthy's restaurant, one of the best South Carolina had to offer, was a peaceful one. Both of us entertaining ourselves with music from the radio while I stared across the streets. Wondering when last I had lived in the human world or even had an actual conversation with them.
As we walked into the gigantic building we were greeted officials dressed in a spotless white shirt and black pair of trousers. My eyes gawked at luxurious view and divine calmness, this was why I loved Gabriel, he was the perfect Beta. Everything from the tables, couches, chairs and even the bulbs definitely had a speckle of Gold on them.
I didn't recognize the solemn music playing in the background, but I enjoyed it. Claire loved it; I could tell from the expression on her face.
"You like it?" I whispered by her side as we approached our table, a small circular red table complemented with two black metal chairs opposite each other.
"I love it." She answered while I pulled her chair for her to sit. I gently tucked at my jacket before relaxing to my seat.
"Good evening, Mr. Kevin, Miss Claire." Said the waitress who approached us in her dazzling attire. Her face donned an endearing smile and her tone, was of elegance.
"I'm Silvia, and I will be attending to any of your needs for the night. May I ask what you would you like to have?" She quoted.
I stared at Claire for a brief second before making my call.
"Can we have your Main menu please?"
"Of course." She chirped and gestured with a flick of her finger. Two waiters joined us, carefully handing us their menu boards.
"I'll be back after five minutes to take your orders, if that pleases you." She added while I stared at the board in my hand, viewing through what looked like an unending list.
"But would you two like anything else before then?"
I almost wriggled my head until Claire suddenly interjected.
"Ice Cream please!" She said. I frowned. "That's all I wanna have. One bowl of Chocolate ice cream." She toned whilst returning the menu board to one of them.
"Ice cream?" I sported a quizzical look and she asserted with her eyes.
"Are you sure?" Silvia queried politely too.
"Yes."
"And you sir?" The waitress gaze fell on me, obviously trying to hide her surprise. I was too.
"Same." I muttered without thoughts before returning the board.
"As you wish! Two bowls of Ice cream coming right up!" She chirped with a bright smile before sauntering away.
"Ice cream?" I toned again with a quizzical face while she stared at me innocently. "Claire you can order for anything; the expenses are all covered don't worry."
"I know but it's ice cream I want only." She smiled.
"So, we drove all the way from Greenville to just to have ice cream?" I asked, regretting why I chose the same thing with her when my stomach was on rampage.
She chuckled.
"I've long had a craving for Ice cream. Besides their menu is fantastic but it's nothing compared to Greenville."
I nodded in agreement while two chilled bowls of chocolate ice cream was served.
"Would you like anything else? Mr. Kevin, Miss Claire." She asked.
"No, Thank you." I responded.
"Alright Sir. Please, enjoy." She replied with her accustomed smile before parting away.
"Claire are you sure you don't want anything else?" I asked again while she chuckled.
"Kevin, I'm okay with this. Besides, ice cream is what I need to calm your peppery noodles raging my stomach."
"It wasn't that peppery if you ask me." I shrugged while she rolled her eyes.
"That's because you cooked it." She replied before taking a scoop of her cream. I chuckled before entertaining my taste buds with chilled taste of chocolate.
"So, When last have you dwelled amongst humans?" I asked.
"Few months ago. Before I came to Greenville." She answered.
"I can't even remember when last I did." I chuckled but I lied. I remembered it was days before my Father died.
"Well, this is your chance. Perhaps after this dinner, you and I could explore a little." She proposed.
"That would be lovely, perhaps I can score a chance with a lady." I winked while she chuckled.
"Flirt!" She remarked jokingly. "But unfortunately, you won't find any as beautiful as your little one."
I blushed.
"You know, there's no difference between our kind and theirs though. Well except that we have Wolf Spirits and can actually change into wolves." She chuckled while I kept on staring at her like one who was enchanted.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" She asked after a few scoops.
"I'm grateful to the moon goddess for blessing me with a perfect mate like you. For someone so undeserving as me, I never thought I would find love." I mumbled. She dropped her spoon quietly before pulling her seat backwards. She approached me, holding my gaze for a second before relaxing on my thighs. Her left arm curled around my neck while her right index finger slowly brushed the cream around my lips. I felt series of sparks explode in my lips as her finger gently caressed them.
She smiled before licking her finger like a seductress.
"You're the perfect mate, I wished for. You might be a dick sometimes but yeah, I love you." She softly responded, her eyes gleaming with sincerity and my heart couldn't help but melt in love.
"May I have this dance with my Alpha?" She asked as the music tune changed.
"I'm not good." I responded but Lupus said otherwise. She pulled me, taking us to the dance floor.
"I'll show you the ropes then." She said. She placed my hands around her waist and then wrapped hers around my neck.
"Just let your body flow with the rhythm."
And like a student I was, I listened. Slowly moving in sync with her.
"How are you feeling?" I asked in concern.
"I can't describe, but I don't want this to stop." She responded as she looked into my eyes.
"Not that Claire." I answered and she understood.
"Just little pain around my body but I'm getting better day by day."
I heaved a sigh. The thought of her fighting this pain alone was nightmarish. How could I be living fine when my mate was in pain?
"You're getting worried again. And I don't want that." Her soft voice broke my thoughts.
"And I don't want that for you too. Being in pain." I mumbled.
"Kev," she pursed her lips. "I'll be fine."
"You know, My Mother told me there is a way to speed up your healing." I let the words roll out.
"And what's that?"
I cleared my throat, trying to summon courage.
"By Marking you."
She smiled and it surprised me a bit.
"So, what's holding you back?" She asked and I frowned a little.
"I thought you weren't ready." I stuttered. "Or maybe I wasn't ready. Marking is an intimate process you know."
"So," she pursed her lips, and I knew she was going to say something naughty instantly. "You're afraid to fuck your mate?"
My lips parted slightly but deep inside, I imagined my jaw dropping.
"I-I’m a virgin." I stammered.
"I'm a virgin too but I'm not scared to fuck you." She arched her brow upwards and I could tell she was totally sincere.
"Or maybe my Alpha is a little cowardly than I thought."
On impulse, my grip on her waist tightened while my other hand slowly toured up her bare back. The feel of her smooth skin and warmth was enough to arouse me. Lust was beginning to overpower me again and she knew. Yet she reacted positively to my touch, her eyes beckoning me to do more.
"The way you tease me wants to make me have you badly. Whenever we touch and even those nights we spend on the bed cuddling." I whispered in oblivion and she rewarded me with a naughty smile.
"That's what I want. I want to make you to crazily crave for my body badly, till you lose your sanity, till I become your cure."
"If that's it then," I brought my face closer, my gaze falling on her gleaming lips. "Then just forget ever seeing my perfect chest you run your pretty little fingers on or my hair which your hands never stop playing with."
She gasped.
"That's not fair." She whined and I chuckled.
"Why don't we go for a walk, this place is already feeling too steamy for me." I proposed, unable to stop my arousal. She must have noticed the lust gleaming in my eyes perhaps why she agreed.
"I have a place I wanna show you." She muttered once we stepped outside, into the cold weather.
"It looks like it's gonna rain soon though." I pointed out, looking at the sky but Claire wouldn't be dissuaded. Instead, she pulled me away from our Mercedes till we started walking hand in hand. And after ten minutes of walking, I noticed her tired status, but she tried to hide it.
I quickly lifted her off the grounds, carrying her in my arms even though she struggled against it.
"You're tired Claire, don't fight it." I mumbled with a tiny smile. I loved the way she curled up in my embrace, it reminded of our first night together.
"I can walk on my own, you know." She whispered even though she enjoyed it secretly.
"At least give me the chance to treat you like a Queen." I answered and she maintained silence. From the very first moment, I saw her. I knew she was strong; at that time, I was sure she would even beat me in a combat.
"Enjoy the fact that you're mated to a strong Alpha." I added with my tiny smile still gracing my face.
"You're the Wolf of Justice now." She said almost in a quietness but enough to pass a stern note.
"Since when did you know?" I glanced at her.
"That night."
I gulped down my saliva, Hoping those awful memories wouldn't sprang up as I stared across the silent road we were touring in.
"Sometimes I feel I don't deserve it."
And her hand gently caressed my cheek in response.
"You deserve it because it's shaping you for good. Your life was dark before but now," she paused. "It's beautiful."
My legs halted abruptly as we finally arrived a lake side. How we had gotten here confused me because earlier before, the road was just a dark, empty, and silent place.
"How is this possible?" I muttered in oblivion while I dropped her carefully. I was easily captivated by the view. The moon and stars were definitely closer to us and the lakeside had two duck paddling gently causing silver ripples to appear. Apart from its captivating beauty, it was peaceful. As I stared at the moon, all I could see was memories of my childhood. Where I played hide and seek with my father while my mother would busy herself making new recipes.
The laughter, the joy, the words, everything felt like I was reliving them. And tears started to grace my eyes.
"My Father bought this place for me when I was young. He had a witch seal it off from the human eyes." She mentioned, her gaze on the moon too. "He called this place, the lake of memories." I swallowed my saliva as I refused to remove my gaze.
"This place only shows you beautiful memories of our lives. It's a place where we find peace and reflect. And regardless of whether it's daytime or not, it always stays the same."
In oblivion, our fingers slowly intertwined, and I could vividly see the time when we first kissed reflecting on the moon. I felt droplets of rain fall on my cheeks.
"It's raining Claire." I mumbled even though I wanted to remain here.
"No, it's not." She mumbled, her gaze still focused on the moon.
"But it is."
"Then let it drench us." She whispered and like an enchanted being, I nodded in agreement.
"Let it drench us." I repeated her words like one who was charmed.
###########
We arrived the Pack House drenched by the heavy rain. I for one had ran off to the kitchen to make tea while Claire went upstairs. Once the liquid steamed enough, I carried it upstairs to our room. And as I opened the door, I found her struggling to undress.
I dropped the tray carefully on my desk before nearing her back. She stopped struggling when a drop of water fell from my hair to her shoulder. As I helped loosen her clothe, my face inadvertently inched to her neck. I placed a soft kiss and planned to stop but my lust took control. I continued, placing those soft kisses across her neck to her shoulder. She turned to me immediately, claiming my lips. Our tongues intertwined with passion, love, and lust while her hands peeled my wet shirt off my body. Her gown fell too, and her breasts pressed against my chest. Our nipples touching and wriggling against each other as our kiss intensified. My hands flowed to her buttocks which I grabbed like my life depended on it.
She moaned and slowly we toured to the bed.
And at that point, I knew. I knew we were ready for the final stage. To mark ourselves.
I tore my trouser off my body and then climbed above her. Giving her soft kisses across her thigh. Her legs shuddered but I pinned her down till I reached her honey pot. Just one kiss and she moaned loud. I didn't even care who else would be hearing us, I continued raveling in her sweet taste. Kissing and sucking gently. My tongue slowly travelled across her stomach and then to her breasts. Her entirety shuddered and her breaths came out strong and unsteady as I sucked on her nipple. My tongue salivated on it and without further thoughts, I shove my rod in. Another loud moan escaped her lips, but I took my pace slow. I went to the left side of her neck and she went to mine too. As I kept on stroking deep, I decided to make the move, to mark her.
I let my canines extend before biting gently into her skin. She did same too, and we screamed from ecstasy exploding within us like bomb. If I had thought the biting process would be painful then I was wrong.
It came with the sweetest feeling of joy and excitement. Our sparks dosed on a higher note and I could feel the mate bond between us deepen. I could totally feel what she was feeling, I could see some of her memories, I could read some of her thoughts.
We were like one and on that note, my pace quickened. Giving her deep strokes with pride. This ecstasy felt like forever but in the end, we both had our orgasms.
Our breaths were slowly returning to normal and a smile imprinted on our faces. I kissed her one last time. This time it was deep again, but not with the usual lust. It was my assurance that we were one. That even when the storm came, I would be there. I might be bad at all things, but I would never exchange her for anything.
It was a kiss of promise. One I never ever dreamed to break.
